Some may have noticed my preference for using the terms PVC/AVC rather than BCE/CE or BC/AD when dating.
I will first give some historical context on how our ancients dated the years before arguing for my use of PVC/AVC;
PVC/AVC refers to πππππ or ππ π’πππ ππππππ‘π, prior and since the founding of the city of Rome by Romulus respectively.
BC/AD refers to the years prior and since the supposed birth of Yeshua of Nazareth.
BCE/CE is simply a secularization of BC/AD.
1 AVC = 753 BC.
AD as a dating system was devised 1278 AVC by the christian Dionysius Exiguus.
Before this the abrahamics dated years according to the reign of Emperor Diocletian and their slaughter at his hands in 1037 AVC.
AM (π΄πππ ππ’πππ) was also used by both the jews and eastern christians, referring to the year since the presumed creation of the world by their shared god Yahweh.
However, as is often the case with the various abrahamic denominations they disagreed on the actual date.
Prior to Constantine adopting the ibrahimic faith, the individual consulships were used as temporal references (ex: Pompeii erupted in the year of the Consulship of Titus and Vespasianus (832 AVC)).
Before the establishment of the consuls, the reigns of the kings were used.
PVC/AVC was established by the esteemed polymath Marcus Terentius Varro (637-726 AVC), who calculated the date of Rome's founding to the 21rst of April.
This method would be most often used in conjunction to the consular terms in historiographical work (most famously by Livy.)
The Greeks used the Olympiad, a period of 4 years following the Olympic games (ex: Rome was founded in the first year of the 7th Olympiad).
Individual victors were also used (ex: Cumae was conquered by the Samnites in the year Dorieus gained his second victory (326 AVC)).
Why use PVC/AVC rather than BC/AD?
The alienation we have from our roots in the West is in part caused by how modern history is taught.
Rather than seeing the world as our ancestors did we are made to be consciously disconnected from them through our very understanding of time.
I am of a mind that measuring indigenous polytheistic European history in concordance to the supposed birth of a Middle Eastern, Galilean jew, especially when studying anything prior to the reign of Constantine and his adoption of the ibrahimic faith, to be frankly absurd.

Part 8: The Lucanians and Bruttians.
Pre-Roman Southern Italy is often generalized as being solely Greek.
While the Hellenic presence should not be understated we must not forget the peoples they shared the land with.
Finishing our in depth exploration of the Sabellic peoples let us look at the Lucani and Bruttii;
Some argue that the name 'Lucani' stems from the Greek 'lykos' (Ξ»αΏ ΜΞΊΞΏΟ), meaning 'wolf'.
The Lucanian use of a Greek term to describe themselves can be explained by their adoption of the Greek alphabet, which we find in the archeological record.
In the study of Pre-Roman Italy there is no other topic more controversial and polemic than that of the origin of the Etruscan people.
Claims ranging from the Etruscans being Turks, Sub-Saharans, Albanians and everything in between have somehow been 'confidently' argued.
This speaks volumes on the state of 'modern academia' but I intend to settle the matter nonetheless.
For context; the Etruscans, who called themselves 'Rasenna' and were called Tyrrhenians by the Greeks, were the peoples of north-central Italy prior to Roman dominion.

Tales of the Sea.
History remembers the two most powerful cities of Magna Graecia to be Syracuse and Taras.
The Fates would have it they share a common origin among the waves of the Ionian Sea.
The former's story begins in Arcadia, with the nymph Arethusa.
The Naiad came across a stream and began bathing, unaware that it was the domain of Alpheus.
The river god was enamored and pursued the nymph, who fled him. not wanting to break her vows of chastity to Diana.
Today is ππΌπ πΎππ. πππ£.
We celebrate the π΄πππππ’π π‘πππ’π in honor of Mars;
As we have mentioned previously, October was the end of the war season in ancient times, thus many of our festivals this month commemorate Mars and the returning warriors.
The π΄πππππ’π π‘πππ’π is then the ritual purification of both our soldiers and their weapons.
The spilling of human blood always produces a degree spiritual pollution (Latin πππππ’π‘ππ, Greek ππππ ππ), that could 'stain' the individual, hence the importance of purificatory rituals for soldiers returning from the warfront.

Part 4: The Confederacy of Four Nations;
The Marsi, Vestini, Paeligni and Marrucini.
If they are not relevant to modern 'discourse' or have not left an unignorable legacy, many ancient peoples are simply annotations in history books.
I hope to shed some light today on four Italic nations; the Marsi, Vestini, Paeligni and Marrucini, and their respective legacies.
So why the communal focus?
Beyond the notably small amount of material and literary evidence on these four peoples, the geographical proximity, cultural similitude and political history of confederation make an analysis of any one tribe futile without mentioning the other three.

The Nostoi, veterans of Troy find new homes in Italy.
Following the sack of Ilion, the Achaean heroes would have their separate peregrinations returning from the war, the most famous of which being Odysseus.
We will focus on those who ventured to Italy, namely Nestor, Epeios, Menestheus, Philoktetes and Diomedes.
Nestor, the Gerenian Horseman, oldest of the Achaeans, would return to his home of Pylos, eventually receiving Telemachus while the boy was on the search for his father.
He and his men would then sail west, founding the city of Metapontion in the modern province of Matera.
