In today's #vatniksoup, I'll talk about Russian attempts to "russify" and completely wipe out the Ukrainian identity in the Eastern Ukrainian territories and Crimea that Russia is temporarily occupying.
1/10
Today The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) published their findings on an extensive investigation spanning over several months, on the harsh reality of Russia's aggressive policy of assimilation in the regions they temporarily occupy in Eastern Ukraine.
2/10
Eyewitnesses and experts have revealed incidences of torture, coercion, deportation, cultural erasure, and military indoctrination in these regions. All this is a violation of the international law and in some cases even amount to possible war crimes and genocide.
3/10
Former police officer, Anton Lomakin from Kherson was detained for four months. During this time, he was given multiple electric shocks, beaten with an iron club & waterboarded. Waterboarding is illegal under the law of war with the adoption of the third Geneva Convention.
4/10
Artem Petrik is currently doing his PhD in History in Vilnius. He was caught in Kherson after the start of the full-scale invasion, and was persecuted because of his profession: Russians consider a historian a propagandist, who is part of the ideological system.
5/10
During the interview, he stated that "if you don't want to be Russian, you will die. If you support the Ukrainian identity, you will have serious problems: imprisonment, death, torture."
6/10
Larysa Borova fled the occupied territories last June. She said that if you don't have a Russian passport, you don't get pension, food or medical services. She said that many elderly require medication and attain Russian passport just to stay alive.
7/10
Leonid Remyga, a medical doctor who worked in Kherson told that they were forced to give out Russian birth certificates. They were forced to memorize the Russian anthem and if they couldn't, they were beaten and tortured.
8/10
In addition, all children have to attend Russian schools and follow the Russian curriculum. Ukrainian children are being denied access to their own culture and their own history, and are being forced to learn the revised history of Russkiy Mir instead.
9/10
Yet,people like @tuckercarlson & the Grayzone "journalists" are complaining because Ukraine is temporarily banning pro-Kremlin Orthodox churches that are basically an extension of the FSB. How corrupt and/or stupid do you have to be completely disregard an ongoing genocide?
10/10
In today's #vatniksoup, I'll introduce a German journalist and documentarist, Hubert Seipel. He's best-known for creating several propaganda pieces on Vladimir Putin, for downplaying Putin's atrocities, and for receiving money from a Russian oligarch without disclosing this.
1/17
Let's start with the obvious - Hubert Seipel, a German "Russia expert", received at least 600 000 EUR in undisclosed offshore payments from companies linked to an oligarch Alexei Mordashov, a person very close to Vladimir Putin.
2/17
This money was paid to him in installments, and it was allegedly paid to support his work on two books about Putin. Both of these books portray the Russian president in a very positive light. The second book was actually titled "Putin's Power: Why Europe Needs Russia".
In today's #vatniksoup, I'll introduce an American attorney, weeaboo and social media personality, Tyler Weaver (@ArmchairW). He's best-known for his copium-infused, pro-Russian analysis on the Russo-Ukrainian War, and for his deep admiration of Russian Imperialism.
1/17
Tyler spent 9 years in active service as an Artillery Officer in the US Army, and he frequently leans on his military background to lend credence to his takes and to shut down criticism. And although Tyler claims not to like credentialism, they seem very important to him.
2/17
As someone who often bends the definition of truth, Mr. Weaver has definitely chosen the right career path - he currently works as an Assistant District Attorney after graduating from the University of Washington School of Law in Jun 2022.
In today's #vatniksoup, I'll discuss the anatomy of a grifter. As a case study, I'll talk about @jacksonhinklle, and how he's utilizing social media to make money and become a popular yet highly controversial figure online.
1/18
My #vatniksoup on Hinkle was published already back in Feb 2023, but a lot has happened since then: his YouTube channel has been removed due to the massive amount of disinformation he spread, and he was also banned from TikTok.
After this, he started focusing heavily on X/Twitter. His account is the fastest growing account on the platform, and 5 minutes don't pass without him advertising his 3USD "premium subscription" with no notable benefits to the subscribers.
In today's #vatniksoup, I'll introduce an American social media personality, conspiracy theorist and neo-Nazi, Angelo John Gage AKA Lucas Gage (@Lucas_Gage_). He's best-known for his rabid antisemitism, support for white nationalism, and his anti-Ukrainian statements on X.
1/16
In 2015, Gage was chairman of the National Youth Front (NYF), a far-right organization that's goal, according to Gage was "declaring our freedom from this oppressive, anti-white, globalist government that has been slowly subverting our country since the 1960's."
2/16
In 2016, Angelo started creating racist videos on YouTube, discussing topics such as "anti-racist is a code word for anti-white", "diversity is white genocide" and making videos with titles like "Make Whites Great Again".
In today's #vatniksoup, I'll talk about peace negotiations. There's a common misconception that only Russia wants peace and Ukraine wants to keep on fighting "until the last man", but of course this is far from the truth.
1/18
There's been peace talks pretty during the whole duration of the Russo-Ukrainian War. The first meeting was held in Belarus, just four days after the start of the invasion, on 28 Feb 2022. In March, there were four more rounds of negotiations in Belarus and in Turkey.
2/18
In 5 Mar 2022,Israel's Naftali Bennett was mediating the negotiations between Ukraine & Russia. They were also coordinated by the US, France & Germany. Bennett said that both sides wanted a cease fire, and that it was the Western powers that stopped this deal from happening.
3/18
In today's #vatniksoup, I'll introduce a Swiss social media personality, investment banker and journalist, Vadim Loskutov (@runews). He's best-known for praising Russia and its politics, and criticizing the West while living comfortably in Switzerland.
1/16
This research was conducted in collaboration with the Swiss NAFO fellas and The Unintelligence Agency.
Loskutov allegedly originally hails from the Republic of Kalmykia, located in the North Caucasus region of Southern Russia.
2/16
According to some Wikibin entries, Vadim was allegedly building a career as a media personality in Russia. Based on the text, he worked as a presenter and video jockey on various Russian music shows during the 90s, and he allegedly also voiced radio advertisements.
