Ian Botham wasn't like other sportsmen.

A weed-smoking maverick, he punched policemen, shagged waitresses and partied with the Rolling Stones.

From 45 year feuds to "coke-fuelled shagathons", this is the story of England's stoner superstar... Image
Our story begins in 1980, when England cricket captain Ian Botham bizarrely joins Football League side Scunthorpe.

He plays 11 times, but scandal strikes at the Christmas party.

Botham is caught up in an alleyway scrap with gobby local fans, and gets charged with assault.

He's eventually acquitted, and stars in a glorious 1981 Ashes series.

But his new fame makes him a target for the tabloid vultures.

On a tour to New Zealand, he's accused of snorting coke and smoking weed in the dressing room.

He sues the papers, but there's worse to come... Image
On New Year's Eve 1984, four police officers bang on his door brandishing a search warrant.

They find 2.19g of weed in his bathroom, and arrest him, hauling his wife Kath to the station too.

When they get home, a livid Kath throws a glass table at Ian. Image
But Botham is a hero once again when he walks the length of the UK, raising £1m for charity.

There's still time for drama: when a busybody policeman tries to interfere, Ian punches him.

Unfortunately, the copper is wearing a helmet and Botham breaks his hand. Image
High on fame, Botham recruits dodgy agent Tim Hudson.

Tim convinces him he's a global sex symbol and flies him to Hollywood to become the next James Bond.

But Hudson's masterplan falls apart when he tells Botham's father-in-law that he plans to "get Ian's wife out the picture". Image
As Ian sets sail for the West Indies 1986, he promises his wife Kath: "no more tabloid stories".

Within weeks, he's accused of taking heroin and holding a "coke-fuelled shagathon" with Miss Barbados.

He brands the stories bollocks, but can't afford to sue another paper. Image
That summer, Botham finally confesses to smoking weed, sparking tabloid outrage and a 3 month ban.

Hoping to spend time with some like-minded stoners, he goes on a televised Q&A with some Scottish teenagers.

But it's a trap...
After retiring in 1992, Botham releases an autobiography called "Don't tell Kath".

One year later, he's caught shagging an Australian waitress.

At lunch with Kath, Botham breaks the awkward silence by pointing at a waitress and observing: "she's beautiful".

These days, Ian is a retired family man. But trouble still finds him.

In 2014, a naked selfie including a flaccid penis appears on Botham's Twitter profile.

It's captioned "what are you thinking xx".

He insists he's been hacked, tweeting: "very funny whoever that was". Image

"Is Ryan Giggs the last good man in Premier League football?" asked The Guardian back in 2010.

How wrong they were...

Since then his life has been one long scandal.

From knobbing his brother's wife to penning erotic poetry, this is the story of randy Ryan...
Image

Our story begins in 1992, when a fresh-faced Giggs breaks into the United team.

One night, winger Lee Sharpe invites him to a house party.

But livid gaffer Alex Ferguson crashes the bash.

Fergie finds Ryan cowering in a wardrobe, and drags him home by the ear.

At training the senior pros mercilessly prank Ryan.

They convince him that each player gets a club car after playing 25 games.

Thrilled, Giggs bounds up to Sir Alex to collect his motor.

"Club car?" Fergie barks, turning purple. "You've got more chance of getting a club bike." Image

After being linked with Ozil, Fabregas and Cristiano Ronaldo, fans are licking their lips when the club tease a huge deadline day signing.

It's Marouane Fellaini... Image
As rumours emerge Moyes has lost the dressing room, Patrice Evra claims players "joked that Bebé had won more medals than Moyes”.

Diego Armando Maradona. Three words synonymous with hedonism, audacity and sheer batshit craziness.

But perhaps no story of El Diego is as wild as his time at the 1994 World Cup.

From drugs in hotel rooms to shooting reporters with air rifles, this is the truly mental story...
Image

Before the tournament, it was widely accepted that Maradona was finished.

He’d been handed a whopping 15-month ban for cocaine use, and fled Naples after falling out with the local mafia.

Back in Argentina, he'd piled on the pounds, and was hardly playing for Newell's Old Boys. Image
But with Argentina floundering in World Cup qualifying, manager Alfio Basile gave in to fan pressure to bring the old superstar back.

And somehow, a rather rotund Maradona helped Argentina earn a spot at the World Cup.

The fairy tale comeback was on... Or so they thought. Image

When Roman Abramovich rocked up at Chelsea, it kicked off an incredibly weird decade of silverware, scandal and simmering sexual tension.

It was the stuff of Hollywood: guns in training, blood-sucking strikers and enough coke to see off Scarface.

Welcome to the Roman empire...

In the long hot summer of 2003, weirdo oligarch Roman Abramovich snaps up Chelsea from Ken Bates.

During a helicopter ride over London, Roman spots Regent's Park and announces: "that will be our training ground".

When Bates tells him the Queen owns it, Abramovich just shrugs.

Within weeks, scandal strikes: keeper Mark Bosnich tests positive for cocaine.

He admits to snorting six grams a day, and promising his girlfriend Sophie Anderton: "for every line you do, I'll take two".

And he's not the only one smashing gear between matches... Image
