This is what I mean about losing a war you refuse to admit you’re already in. The "not our fight" appeasement crowd conveniently ignores years of Russian onslaught on their elections, businesses, economies, etc as if the only aggression is tanks—which Russia is also using.
Ukraine is the rarity, a battlefield on which hostile Russian forces can be seen and destroyed. No so simple with Russian oligarchs making donations, energy company acquisitions & IPOs, hackers and propagandists manipulating candidates & elections. But those are also Putin’s war.
Putin was emboldened to launch kinetic war in Europe after years of being emboldened by the West's refusal to defend itself against his assassinations, election interference & economic capture. It was all always war to Russia. The Baltics knew. Ukraine knew. They were ignored.
For those saying Putin was wrong, that he overstepped in Ukraine, underestimated the West's support, etc., ask the only question a dictator cares about: Is Putin still in power? He is still relying on the cowardice of the West and to outlast & bluff them with a much weaker hand.
If Ukraine isn’t winning it is only because its allies do not want it to win. The weapons needed for victory have been withheld while they collect dust in US warehouses. Putin correctly sees this as weakness, not diplomacy, and will continue his hybrid attacks on you in return.
I explained this in Winter Is Coming, what dictators think of proportionate response. Putin isn’t stupid. He sees the overwhelming military might of the US & NATO and thinks "They could destroy me, but they don’t. Because they don’t want to. Because they are weak. So, I attack."
Ukraine is paying a high price in blood and terror. They are not the first and will not be the last if Russia isn’t defeated now. This is the lesson I wish the West would finally figure out. The price always goes up. There will be no better chance than now.

For 10 years, Ukrainians have shed blood for the values and freedoms other Europeans take for granted. Their brave people have defended Europe against Russia while the world's most powerful military alliance looks on. We can never repay them, but we must do everything we can. 🇺🇦
Ukraine refused to bow down to the Russian mafia state that was making pipeline deals & political alliances with the EU leaders who dared lecture Ukraine about their best interests. Ukraine is now the conscience, the leader of what Europe is supposed to stand for.
Many Europeans are annoyed at Ukraine for exposing their weakness & hypocrisy by fighting back where they would not. Putin was buying EU politicians as his oligarchs were buying houses and assets. Ukraine's resistance brought it down, saving Europe from its own corruption.

It’s what I called them looking for their lost keys where the light is better instead of where they lost them. Hamas doesn’t care. Iran won’t listen. Assad will continue to slaughter. So, pressure Israel and the US. Eventually you lose your moral compass entirely.
Same with those calling for ceasefires and negotiations in Ukraine, even though Russia doesn’t want any such thing. So they write op-eds criticizing Ukraine and its allies. Because Putin, the aggressor, doesn’t care what they say & just lies to tell them what they want to hear.
Hamas is responsible for this war. It may not fit your worldview or political goals, but it’s a fact. There was a ceasefire on Oct 6. On Oct 7, their terrorist army invaded, raped, slaughtered, and took hostages that are still in captivity in Gaza. Do not rob them of agency.

Upcoming report by @WLCongress EE/CA Group on Russian sanctions is an eye-opener. In 2022, Kyrgyzstan exported 115,920 detonators to Russia, the kind used in landmines, up from zero in 2021. Also 2022, Kyrgyzstan imported 193,536 detonators from Canada. Sanctions, @JustinTrudeau?

Will the Russian bombs and mines used to kill Ukrainians still have "Made in Canada" on the parts? Kyrgyzstan is small, and the report shows much more similar "middleman" activity from Kazakhstan, despite Toqaev's photo-ops with EU leaders denying helping Russia break sanctions.
How about tons of gunpower from France? Or millions in semiconductors and integrated circuits from all over Asia and Europe, even the US? They're all making their way to Russia, much of military gear, not dual use. It makes a mockery of sanctions and Western promises.

What is it about the oxymoronic "Russian peace deal" you don't understand? Ukrainians are fighting because surrendering their territory means surrendering their people to torture, kidnapping, and genocide. It also means only waiting for Putin's next invasion.
You can't declare a ceasefire unilaterally. Only Ukraine would stop fighting, not Russia, as has been demonstrated many times since 2014. Ukraine may fight and lose, especially if its allies listen to idiotic takes like this, but if they stop fighting they will lose much more.
The issue isn't if Ukraine should surrender and allow Russia and Putin's mafia to destroy their country, as they have made clear is their goal. It's that it wouldn't save any Ukrainian lives. It wouldn't be peace. The only real peace will be Ukrainian victory.

These are serious questions, due to the track record of many Biden admin officials in betraying allies while the US is predictably betrayed by adversaries like Iran and Russia. I documented this timeline re Ukraine in August: kasparov.com/a-history-of-b…
The White House's mantra that "We will stand with Ukraine as long as it takes" may be missing a few words: "...to make a deal with Russia." Zaluzhnyi said it plainly that they need weapons and the weapons aren't there. Instead, they collect dust in US warehouses.
This is a choice by the Biden admin. The Crimean bridge is still standing not because of Mike Johnson. Ukraine doesn't have F-16s not because of MAGA isolationists. Yes, Congress matters in the long run but the White House could do enough to win this war now.

Dictators and terrorists are working together and boast of their cooperation in waging war on the modern world order. Why don’t the US and the rest of the free world unite to defeat them, instead of trying to make deals? My new @WSJopinion op-ed: wsj.com/articles/biden…
The Biden foreign policy team refuses to commit to victory in Ukraine. This hesitancy has cost many lives and allowed Putin and his allies in Iran to spread chaos. They will continue to escalate as long as they are able to.
Hamas and Iran say they want to wipe Israel from the map. Putin says Ukraine isn’t a real country. Their genocidal actions back up their words, and yet we still hear excuses for not doing everything possible to defeat them.
