1/ The people aboard Yevgeny Prigozhin's aircraft were reportedly dismembered – and in one case decapitated – by an explosion on board before it crashed. This suggests that they were already dead before they hit the ground and disproves Vladimir Putin's claims about the crash. ⬇️

2/ Two months after the 23 August 2023 crash of Prigozhin's Embraer Legacy 600 jet north-west of Moscow, Putin claimed that grenade fragments had been found in the victim's bodies and hinted at the passengers' possible use of drugs or alcohol.

3/ The scenario he painted was clearly intended to suggest that someone on board the aircraft set off a grenade in a drunken or drugged moment. It is well-established that the aircraft broke up in flight, likely as the result of an explosion on board.

4/ Early suggestions that the aircraft was shot down have received little support, but there have been many suggestions that an explosive device was brought on board and detonated near the rear of the aircraft, severing the tail, which was found 3 km away from the fuselage.

5/ According to the VChK-OGPU Telegram channel, investigators examining the aircraft wreckage and the victims' remains have found that "the explosion on board was very strong, much more powerful than the explosion of a grenade."

6/ "Recently, experts found out that it was from this that the limbs of the victims and even the head of one of the passengers were amputated, and not from hitting the ground."

7/ Investigators had reportedly previously found very clear signs of an explosion on board, with the skin of the aircraft opened from the inside, but had not found shrapnel fragments in the victims' bodies and only recorded mechanical injuries.

8/ It's likely that everyone in the 13-seat passenger cabin was already dead before the aircraft hit the ground. The Russian authorities have not publicly given a definitive cause of the apparent explosion, and it's unlikely that they will dare to contradict Putin's version. /end
