RE: SEC Championship game (from one UGA fan's perspective):
This one's going to hurt a little bit. That's Ok.
1/
First, tip of the cap to Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide. We just watched a hell of a chess match between two of the best coaching staffs in college football - coaching what I truly believe are the two best teams in college football.
2/
It was a hard fought and pretty evenly matched game. Someone was going to win, meaning someone had to lose. Today was their day.
3/
For those who feel entitled to a win today, get over it and yourselves. Look at what Ladd McConkey and Brock Bowers did today, fighting through obvious pain. Look at the list of those not able to play because of injuries incurred on the road to get to this championship game. 4/
Look at the faces of the players, and what they invested to get here, and stand here, tonight. This is about them. We are just spectators.
5/
What we've seen, while we were watching, was a team that grew up in front of us this year. Many replaced teammates now playing on Sundays. Screaming "next man up" is easy.
6/
Grooming those next men up takes time, patience, and practice. We remain in good hands in Athens with respect to both recruiting, preparation, and game day execution.
7/
This team isn't defined by one loss. They now own the longest winning streak in SEC history. They're proud of that, as they should be. And we are proud of them.
I enjoyed this season.
8/
They'll play again soon. Where is no longer up to us, as we're spectators in that process too. I'll leave the arguments for or against to others. My only thought is this: Bulldogs are always willing to face whichever opponent is assigned to us.
9/
I end as I often do, win or lose: Every day is a great day to be a Georgia Bulldog. Some days are just better than others.
Go Dawgs!
