Lots of discourse about Archies and its young actors, but what really caught my eye was the seriously amazing supporting cast of adults – most of them faces you recognise but don’t remember exactly where from.

Here’s a quick thread on them (with some VERY cool surprises 🤯):
Satyajit Sharma acts as Hal Cooper, a very likeable role as Betty’s father and local bookseller. Most of us will remember him as Basant from Balika Vadhu 🤪

I also REALLY liked his stint as Karan’s father in Made in Heaven.
(MIH is gonna come up quite a few times btw. Read on)

Alyy Khan plays Hiram Lodge, Veronica’s dad and the antagonist of the movie. I recognised him from Luck by Chance and Don 2 – both projects by Excel Entertainment, which also produced MIH. He is pretty good in Archies.

The always reliable Vinay Pathak is Dawson. He’s a recognizable face from Khosla ka Ghosla, Bheja Fry, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi etc.

He is ALSO in Made in Heaven as Karan’s landlord who reports him to the police under Article 377.

Delnaaz is hairdresser Pam, and needs no introduction – she is instantly recognisable from her many appearances across film and television, and may be most famous for playing Sweetu in Kal Ho Na Ho.

The second Reggie’s dad came on screen I had an “aha!” moment because that’s Luke Kenny, who plays Rob in Rock On! – one of my fav films and also an Excel Entertainment production.

He recently made waves for his negative role in Sacred Games.

Luke Kenny’s Rock On! castmate, Koel Purie, is also in the Archies as Alice Cooper, Betty’s mom. She doesn’t get a lot to do but she’s cute in her scenes. Image
This may just be my favourite of the lot. Nikhil Kapoor, who plays Pop Tate, actually voiced Rama in the ICONIC animated film Ramayana: The Legend of Prince Ram 🤯

(He did the OG English voice, Arun Govil did the Hindi dub, and Bryan Cranston re-did the Eng for the US release)

The actor who plays Mr Weatherbee is named Deven Khote, and is actually more notable as a producer – he produced Udaan and A Wednesday.

Incidentally, he also played Imaad Shah’s father in the final episode of Made in Heaven season 2.

This also sums it up to at least four actors who did both MIH and Archies – Vinay Pathak, Satyajit Sharma, Deven Khote, and Mihir Ahuja who plays Jughead (and who I think actually did a good job) and played Dhruv Jauhari in MIH.

Is this the Tiger Baby-Excel Cinematic Universe?? Image
Archies also has Jamie Alter, the legendary late Tom Alter’s son, as Gomes. He’s previously been in Mismatched and Rocket Boys, and his father remains an indelible part of a lot of iconic Bollywood movies. Image
That’s all I could spot! Tell me the ones I missed, please, I love easter eggs and cool cameos.
This is a very nice cameo by Ankur Tewari @ankurtewari who also contributed to the music of the film! The wig and the glasses and his fit in the role totally threw me off and I didn’t even recognise him at first – what a solid job. Image

The most pivotal moment in my quizzing journey was at a quiz in Modern School Barakhamba Road The quizmaster showed us a lady's photo, asking us to identify her. I was the only girl in a room of 500 boys & only I knew it was supermodel Ujjwala Raut. But I didn't answer. (1/10)
I watched as other teams didn't answer, passed, or (wrongly) guessed names of famous women. "It's Ujjwala Raut," I said to my teammate, who logically told me to answer if I was so sure. I told him no. I'm sure it's her, but YOU answer. He looked at me questioningly...
...but he knew I was smart & a good quizzer. So he answered. And of course, I was right.

So why didn't I answer myself?

Because in a room full of boys who could name dead US presidents in their sleep (I couldn't), I could recognise a supermodel. And I was embarrassed of that.
