1./ The Trans Brain Myth Rides Again
What's the truth behind @michaeljswalker's claim on @GBNEWS that there is a difference between the brains of transwomen and men generally that means they should not be thought of as male? Here's how this myth got started and why it's fake.
2./ In the late 80s a group of scientists headed by Louis Gooren claimed to have discovered the "volume of the central subdivision of the bed nucleus of the stria terminals" in transwomen's brains were more like those of females than males. So were they?
researchgate.net/publication/15…
3./ In science a lab discovery isn't the end of the discussion. It's only the start. If it can't be replicated by other labs there's a good chance it was a fluke, a mistake. Or worse. When Gooren describes his "discovery" he appears to have an agenda.👇
4./ When he says his find makes transsexuality "more socially acceptable" it suggests he might have been overinterpreting. Or worse. His "discovery" hasn't been replicated in almost 40 years despite innumerable attempts using ever more sophisticated scanning technology.
5./ Yet this research has proved hugely influential. It was one of the main arguments cited by academics in 1997 when they met at the Tavistock in London; embracing the Dutch Protocol and prescribing 'puberty blockers'. The conference papers were later published in this book. Image
6./ The book's foreword was written by John Money, who popularised the idea of gender identity but whose reputation was destroyed when he was revealed to have forced children to do 'sex play' in his lab which he photographed. He described puberty blockers as 'brave'. Wonder why? Image
7./ Gooren studied under Money and shared his belief that if trans identity had a biological explanation the answer must also be biological. It's this unevidenced belief that has led to the disaster of medicalising thousands of gender non conforming youth.
8./ Gooren's brain work is unreproducible so scientifically worthless, yet it is endlessly cited by trans lobbyists. When the Endocrine Society intervened to support puberty blockers in the Keira Bell case it cited Gooren's "discovery" despite the fact it turned out not to be one

Image
9./ The Society's members make a fortune from puberty blockers and the man who led its intervention, Dr Joshua Safer, runs a gender identity clinic that prescribes blockers and surgically mutilates young people. His name should really be Janus. On Gooren's work he faces two ways. Image
10./ When he is talking to the public, Safer is happy to push the idea that Gooren's work is a proof of trans identity being biological. Listen to him here in a video posted by India Willoughby and you'd hardly know how flimsy Gooren's dusty old work is.
11./ Yet here is the same Dr Safer talking to an audience of medical students about the very same slides. He explains Gooren's work has never been reproduced and that's why he dismisses them as "the weakest data. But they're kinda pretty pictures."

12./ He goes on to explain the origins of the research was part of an attempt to find "a gay gene". The scientists began by studying homosexuality in "rats and mice". I kid you not! Then they suddenly had what these straight dudes thought was a startling revelation. Wait for it.
13./ Safer says "they realised they couldn't tell whether those mice were gay or whether they were trans." At least he admits they made "a lot of mistakes and faulty assumptions". What like thinking a mouse could be trans? 🤦‍♂️😵‍💫
14./ Their research was immersed in gender stereotypes and a whiff of homophobia. Here Gooren relates proudly how the transmen he studies always bring "very attractive women along". This seems to him to be proof the transmen couldn't just be... lesbians.
15./ So is there a Trans Brain? The truth is there are slides from the brains of dead transsexuals taken 40 years ago that once seemed suggestive that no one can reproduce. They arose out of a project studying gay rodents by scientists who thought rats could be trans. Convinced?
16./ The uncritical acceptance of this threadbare brain research is remarkable. Not least since there is almost no research into what's happening now to the brains of vulnerable adolescents prescribed Big Pharma's blockers. You'd think a left-wing radical might care about that.

1./ Gender Self-ID may have been stopped for now. It'll be back. As I told the Scottish Parliament in May 2022 the GR Reform is seen by the LGBTQ+ lobby as a way to enshrine the unproven notion of gender identity into our laws. But where did such a daft idea as Self-ID come from?
2./ In 1974 two Scotsmen brought together gay groups from across Europe to form the International Gay Congress. One of them, Ian Dunn, was an unrepentant paedophile and founder member of PIE. Here's his obituary by paedophilia defender Peter Tatchell. independent.co.uk/news/obituarie…
3./ IGC would go on to become ILGA, the leading international gay rights organisation; despite its status as a UN recognised NGO being interrupted in 1994 when links to pro-paedophile groups were revealed. Here's ILGA's partisan take on that debacle. ilga.org/ilga-ecosoc-st…

3./ Who says the benders don’t pull their weight? On the third day of Christmas my true love sent to me …Let Women Speak’s gayest fan boy. @MrMennoTweets who is the video making genius who likes to dress all sparkily……👀😏 Image
4./ Talking of the boys… on the fourth day of Christmas my true love sent to me the gay barrister @Jebadoo2 who loves to offer legal encouragement to the Terven secretly and loudly. Who says the ancient love affair between straight girls and gay boys is over. 😂😏👇 Image
5./ On the 5th day of Christmas my true love sent to me a fierce mother who defends lesbian & gay youth unrepentantly. @HJoyceGender delivers on the old dream of the gay lobby that families embrace young gays like her son automatically. Here she is with her sister who is lovely. Image

1./ A personal view on gender critical people supporting trans people under threat. Some say we must define 'trans' first. But when regimes attack minorities they don't tend to use dictionary definitions. Pinochet locked up 80000 socialists. Were they all actual socialists?
Image
2./ I don't believe anyone is born in the wrong body. It's a fantasy. But some people believe they have been. We should defend their human rights nonetheless. Those include the right to organise and speak out without fear, even if we disagree profoundly with what they say.
3./ I'm an atheist but I defend the right of Christians in countries like Pakistan where they are under attack. The same goes for the Baha'i in Iran. We no more have to accept their beliefs before defending them than we do those of the trans lobby.

1./ Martina is the litmus test of how much a crisis the gay movement is now in. In 1997 the first gay series on the BBC treated Navratilova with the respect my generation feel towards her. "Be up, be out and go forth" she said, quoting Billie Jean King. Now she's attacked.

2./ Just 26 years later a group of sanctimonious, entitled gay men (who call themselves 'queer'😵‍💫) felt able to lecture Martina, calling her..."a bad parody of a human being". All because she spoke out about a sexualised drag queen rewriting gay history.
Talk about entitlement.
3./ It's common for minorities to argue. That's not necessarily a bad thing. Argument can hone ideas. But the debate about biological sex versus gender identity isn't respectful disagreement. Instead one side tries to silence the other using tactics that eerily echo history.

1./ The ethical black hole that is Owen Jones has come up with new way to minimise the actions of Hamas. First he complains the footage of dead Israeli babies doesn’t prove they were *deliberately* killed by Hamas. Maybe it was all an unfortunate accident? 🤷‍♂️
2./ To support his latest Hamas apologia Jones then suggests some of the Israeli victims may have been killed during cross fire, before repeating a widely discredited claim that many revellers at the rave were shot by an Israeli helicopter.
3./ It’s all part of a pattern. 3 weeks ago Jones defended Hamas from claims of deadly homophobia by suggesting they had merely inherited anti-gay laws from the British in the 1940s. Then cited Crispin Blunt -who supported a convicted paedophile- as some sort of moral exemplar. Image

1./ Should the BBC be promoting Furry Identity? If people want to dress up, who cares. But the BBC should not ignore the links between elements of the furry movement and sometimes troubling sexual fetishism. I wrote about this recently on my substack. Here's a summary.👉
1 of/18 Image
2./ Furries emerged out of comic book fan groups who liked to dress up in cosplay as their favourite characters, as here at the 1982 San Diego Comicon. The same year Steve Gallaci began publishing his highly influential anthropomorphic sci fi comic books. Image
3./ Gallaci's work with its animal-headed alien figures-with huge eyes- drew from Japanese anime which has long played with the shifting boundaries between outwardly childish and cute innocence, and an underlying, more sinister pornographic vibe. Image
