‼️Former senior Russian GRU officer, & ex Officer in Russian mercenary groups has fled to the Netherlands with the intention of testifying about Russian war crimes in Ukraine before the ICC. Salikov is not seeking immunity & is prepared to accept responsibility for his role.
1/8
Some of the crimes Salikov has testified to:
-Russia invaded Ukraine in 2014
-Orders came directly from the President's Office & Ministry of Defence
-Russia staged FAKE "referendum" in Donbas by force and falsified the "results" for the Kremlin
2/8
-Russia shelled & mined occupied Donbas in order to kill civilians, and then blamed Ukrainian forces for the killing of the Ukrainian civilians
-Salikov was chief of the Special Ops forces in Russia's occupation administration & totally FAKE "Donetsk People's Republic"
3/8
-Russian forces execute Ukrainian civilians en masse
-Russian forces torture and kill Ukrainian POW's
-Russian forces systemically and in large numbers kidnap Ukrainian children and forcibly move them across the border to Belarus
4/8
Note that this is the account of just ONE person which speaks to the truth of the general picture of Russia's brutal and illegal genocidal war against Ukraine - a war based on total lies, fabrications, and extreme barbarity.
5/8
Testimony from this Russian war criminal put to absolute shame most of the reporting on Russia's war against Ukraine.
Ukraine has been telling the world these FACTS since 2014. But truth from Ukraine was ignored, dismissed, mocked and replaced with Russian lies.
6/8
Many western journalists and experts have a DIRECT role in the sidelining of truth about Russia's genocidal war against Ukraine. They attacked Ukraine when it spoke the truth, and platformed the lies that Moscow told to cover up its crimes.
7/8
Don't be mistaken - Western political leadership was WELL aware of these FACTS as well. They turned a blind eye to the truth, to the suffering of Ukraine and Ukrainians, to Russia's illegal and evil ambitions, and threw Ukrainians to the Russian wolves.

Putin: We are not ending our illegal war against Ukraine until we achieve our goal of the total extermination of the Ukrainian nation and people.
US National Sec Advisor Sullivan: I think you're ready to end it.
Putin: Uh, I just said we go to the bitter end.
Sullivan: Nah
>
Putin: I'm telling you we're going to keep destroying Ukraine. Genocide continues.
Sullivan: I think you're actually worried about your economy, and miss the 300,000 killed fighting in Ukraine (including forced Ukrainian conscripts) out of your population of 143.4 million.
>
Putin: Hahahahahaha. Genocide continues. NATO is next.
Other U.S. experts join Sullivan: All a bluff. Plus, we really cannot be sure of your intent to commit genocide. There's ambiguity."
>
Putin has clearly & unambiguously stated that there will be no "peace" in Ukraine until Russia realizes its initial goals of its "special military operation."
RU hasn't given up ANY of its goals to exterminate the Ukrainian nation & people. It moves forward with purpose.
🧵
Absolutely NO ONE can plead ignorance on this point. The words have come right out of Putin's mouth. He is being totally transparent: Russia's genocide, terror, and all-out-hell against Ukraine are to continue without abatement or a thought to "peace".
2/14
Putin himself is telling the entire world that Russia will continue to bomb the shit out of Ukraine, slaughter innocent Ukrainians, and do everything and anything it takes to get there. There will be no "negotiations" or "peace" deals - just as many of us have long warned.

In August 2022, NATO chief @jensstoltenberg warned of the growing Russian threat to Canada:
“The importance of the high north is increasing for NATO and for Canada because we see a significant Russian military buildup with new bases, new weapons system"
1/10 🧵
"Russia has set up a new Arctic command. It has opened hundreds of new and former Soviet-era Arctic military sites, including airfields and deep water ports. Russia is also using the region as a test bed for many of its new novel weapon systems."
2/10
Russia has been working for over a decade on significantly expanding its military capabilities and infrastructure in the Arctic. It poses a threat to Canada and the U.S., and to Finland and Sweden directly.

NATO and the EU have allowed evil rogue regimes of the anti-democratic coalition grow in strength.
We are well down the path toward all-out global war.
There are concrete steps our elected leaders can take to help prevent this. But the window of opportunity is closing.
🧵
Instead of doing absolutely everything to ensure not only Ukrainian victory, but total crushing military and political defeat of the Russian Federation, the U.S., Berlin, and France are holding out for deals with Moscow. They are pursuing the path to ruin, not peace.
Instead of acknowledging the STATED goals of the anti-western coalition led by Russia, China, & Iran, & pursuing policies to counter this grave threat to democracy & intl stability, our elected leaders are acting as if the West is a sacred cow that evil regimes won't dare attack.
The EU and NATO refuse to impose an international embargo against Russia. At the same time, they allow what is effectively a trade embargo against Ukraine - the INNOCENT VICTIM of Russian aggression. What the hell are our values???
I hope the majority of Poles & Slovaks understand that this blockade will undo all the good they did in '22. Taking advantage of the country fighting for its survival -& the survival of the free world- against a military monster isn't just immoral - it's SIDING WITH THE AGGRESSOR
The blockade is sucking resources out of Ukraine's already decimated economy - helping Russia KILL Ukraine's economy. It is depriving Ukrainians of critical humanitarian aid, and delaying military supplies to Ukrainian defenders on the front lines which means HUMAN LOSSES for UA.
Yesterday, while waiting in line to pay for my groceries at a large store, I noticed a man rather frantically asking other customers if they'd let him cut in line to buy one item - a bouquet of flowers. The lines were long, shopping carts very full. He was clearly in a hurry...🧵
I decided that it was no big thing if I had to wait the extra minute, and waved for him to come and go ahead of me in line. He would be next. He was very appreciative, explained that he was running late to pick up his wife from the airport, etc. Very chatty.

I noticed just a tiny trace of an accent. So faint it wasn't immediately clear where he was from, or what his first language was. I am always interested in knowing where people come from - nice to learn about other people and cultures.
