2) At a time when we are talking a lot about peaks in wastewaters, we were interested in the relationships between SARS-COV-2 and the intestines. A brief overview of this topic through some visualisations and studies. mdpi.com/2076-0817/10/8…
3) "Potential intestinal infection and faecal–oral transmission of SARS-CoV-2" nature.com/articles/s4157…
11) We will address also later the hypothesis of certain mutations, which play a key role in intestinal damage and which are found in certain new variants.
Thanks 🙏

VARIANTS and WASTEWATER (9)
DENMARK, a beautiful land of sea and islands
2) One of the most advanced countries in terms of sequencing in the world and, a great website for monitoring the pandemic.

3) WASTEWATER DATA
Since this summer, we have seen a strong and constant increase in the SARS-CoV-2 concentration
TEMPERATURE impacts SARS-CoV-2 SPIKE FUSOGENICITY and EVOLUTION
"SARS-CoV-2 infects both the upper and lower respiratory tracts, which are characterized by different temperatures (33 degrees C and 37 degrees C, respectively)." biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
2) "We first observed that rising temperature from 33 degrees C to 37 degrees C or 39 degrees C increased spike-mediated cell-cell fusion."
3) "We found that spike-mediated cell-cell fusion was maintained during evolution at 39 degrees C, but was lost in a high proportion of viruses evolved at 33 degrees C or 37 degrees C."
We retained 3 hypotheses, without being able, to reach a clear conclusion :
▶️ TMPRSS2 promoting infection of intestinal enterocytes
▶️ GI infection through DPP4 receptor
▶️ Invasive gut fungal infections
Sweden wastewater data
2) TMPRSS2
There have recently been many very interesting discussions in particular with @LongDesertTrain and @StuartTurville on this subject.
3) If this entry mechanism is favored by certain new variants, it could be the cause of an increase in intestinal enterocytes.

LET'S STOP SAYING THERE IS 10% LONG COVID !
It is MINIMUM 30% to 40% who have at least 1 symptom on a period between 90 to 150 days after the acute phase !
"Of 518 with only 1 acute episode of COVID-19, 32.2% met the WHO definition of PCC." medrxiv.org/content/10.110…
2) "Of these, 45.5% reported signs and symptoms that fit the fatigue presentation, 24.6% the cognitive presentation and 16.8% the respiratory presentation."
2) Although it's not really my area of expertise, I tried to understand why there was a lag in the increase of JN.1* between Europe and the US.
3) While the circulation of variants is global on the planet, there had already been a gap, between the US and Europe, not in time, but in the % of sequences with the variant 22C (BA.2.12.1).
