This is not going to be my typical “We are winning” post.
I know I play the tough guy. Most Israelis do.
But we’re all in a deep state of shock and devastation. Some Israelis won’t admit that publicity. Others don’t even realize it themselves.
I’ve met several organizations and people over the past few weeks that are starting to think about the day after from a mental health perspective.
But let me tell you a little bit about what it’s like to be an Israeli and a Jew as we wrap up 2023.
I wake up every morning with a heart that weighs a thousand pounds. I open my WhatsApp while holding my breath asking Hashem to please not let one of today’s IDF casualties be a family member.
You see, I have several family members in the IDF. As soon as I see the names and one of them is not Fuld, I exhale. And then the guilt goes to work.
“What’s wrong with you, Hillel?! Why are you relieved? Someone else just lost their father or husband! Why are you so selfish that all you care about is your family?!”
And then I remind myself that I’m allowed to be thankful that I don’t need to be re-traumatized, that I can’t handle more bad news, that my family can’t.
Ok, I put the guilt to rest. For now.
I then spend the rest of the day trying to fight lies about Jews on the internet and spread positivity wherever I can.
For me to do that, I need to avoid seeing or reading about the Hamas atrocities at all costs. That requires a LOT of effort. They’re everywhere.
If I fail and I read or view something, it takes me hours to be able to snap out of it. It kills me and triggers me horribly every single time.
As the day progresses, more soldiers critically injured, more casualties, more trauma, more PTSD. And on the digital front, more lies, more blood libels, more lunatics going viral with there lies about Israel.
I try to take a breather and shut down my social media apps so I can clear my mind but that doesn’t last long because I feel like I have a job to do.
So I jump right back in. Into the mud. The poison. The hatred. I’m surrounded by it. All the lies. The propaganda. The hate speech. The pictures of Hitler and the calls for my death and the death of my family.
I block. A lot. But it seeps in. Because I’m human.
And then the sun sets. I grab a bite and try to decompress. I fail. The sadness is just too overwhelming. Too all-encompassing.
I give up. I put my phone down and try to clear my head with some Netflix and hope to fall asleep, and if I’m really lucky, I sleep through the night without nightmares.
And then? It’s morning. Rinse. Repeat.
We might all play macho but this is how most of us feel. It’s unbearable.
We will win this war but then we’ll have to fight another war immediately, the war back to mental health. Not sure which war will end up being more challenging.
This entire country is in deep trauma. We weren’t wired for this level of evil and cruelty. We don’t know how to handle it, how to digest it, and how to battle it.
We are going to have to learn fast, because I don’t want to think about the alternative.
Pray for us. It’s a long road ahead. 🇮🇱🥺

If you’re ever in the mood to hear the truth and not fall into the global campaign to vilify Israel, here are some things you should know.
- There is no genocide in Gaza
- There is no famine in Gaza
- There wasn’t a single Jew in Gaza pre 10/7
- Israel never targets innocents
Some other things.
- There was never a sovereign state called Palestine. Palestine was Israel.
- Palestinian terror has zero to do with some made up occupation
- Since its inception in 1964, per its charter, all the Palestinians wanted to do was erase Israel/kill Jews.
The Palestinian identity is one big contradiction
- You can’t be a refugee in your own home so either Gaza isn’t their home or they’re not refugees
- ‘From the river to the sea’ means erase Israel. It can’t coexist with a two state solution
- ‘Globalize the intifada’ and ‘ceasefire now’ are mutually exclusive
Here are some facts, not opinions, facts that the media won’t tell you. Each one of these is a hard fact based on history and evidence. None of these are my opinion, not even one.
Let’s start with the obvious one.
There is no genocide in Gaza. No starvation and no genocide.
The people who call themselves Palestinians are really just Jordanians and Egyptians. Even the father of their movement, Arafat, who established the PLO, was born in Cairo, Egypt.
There has never been a sovereign state of Palestine. (Spoiler: There also will never be one.)
The “Palestinians” don’t want a state. They never have. From day one, the PLO was established to erase Israel from the map. That’s what “From the river to the sea” means. Don’t believe me? Open a map. They had an offer for a state countless times. They rejected them all.
Let’s make a list of all the contradictions in the Palestinian narrative.
I’m not talking about historical inaccuracies. I’m not even talking about the conflict. Forget anything you know about the Middle East.
Let’s get started. This should be fun.
“There is no food in Gaza. Gaza is starving! Israel is using starvation as a weapons! Israel is committing war crimes!!”
Also…
“The hostages are fed well.“
Um, who’s gonna tell them that those two things contradict each other and can’t coexist?
Next.
“Let’s boycott all Israeli things. Let’s even boycott companies not in Israel because their founder is Jewish. Like Starbucks. But most importantly, no matter what, let’s never use Israeli products!”
Also, “Please send us water, electricity, gas, internet.”
Since it’s all anyone is talking about, I figured you’d like to take a course in the Middle East conflict.
After this, you’ll be an expert on what the world likes to say is the most complicated conflict in the world, but in reality, is one of the simplest ones to understand.
Palestine was Israel pre 1948.
In 1947, the UN created the partition plan. A state for the Jews and a state for the Arabs who were living in “Palestine”.
Israel accepted. The Arabs rejected and attacked Israel. They lost. And that’s what happened in every war since.
In 1964, a terrorist who was born in Cairo Egypt named Yasser Arafat established the Palestinian Liberation Organization. I’ll remind you, this was before any so-called occupation, so what was he liberating? The answer? All of Israel. Every last inch. His words, not mine.
Some hard facts no one will tell you, but if you care about truth, you’ll want to know.
Let’s start with the most fundamental lie you’re being told.
“Israel occupied an Arab Palestinian state and stole their land.”
Sit down for this.
Such a state never existed in the history of the world. Don’t believe me? Try to find a date that the Arab Palestine was established. Try to find out who the president was. What currency did they use? What was their national anthem?
I’ll save you the time.
It never existed.
Onward….
The next blatant lie is “Israel occupied Gaza before October 7th, which is why Hamas attacked.”
Really?
Here. I’ll help you.
Open your web browser. Open Google. Type in “The Disengagement.”
2005. Israel forcefully removed 10,000 Israel from Gaza, dug up its dead (Yea, you read that right!) so Hamas wouldn’t rape (Yes, that’s a thing. Hamas raped corpses on October 7th.) the dead bodies, and handed the Palestinians Gaza on a silver platter for them to build a state.
The Palestinians pretty much immediately elected Hamas to govern them and chose a terror state over what could have been paradise.
There were zero Jews in Gaza on October 6th.
That’s not an opinion. It’s an indisputable fact.
Next…
Genocide. People love to use that word when describing the war in Gaza.
So there are a few ways to address this.
First of all, the numbers everyone keeps quoting are from Hamas, a terrorist organization that raped little girls and burned families alive.
Have you considered that maybe they’re lying?
But you know what? Let’s go with Hamas. What ridiculous number are they up to? 30,000? 40,000? You know what? Let’s go with 50,000.
50,000 dead in Gaza? Sure. How many of those were terrorists? Because according to the Gaza Health Ministry, out of those tens of thousands, zero of them were terrorists.
Cool. Makes sense… 🙈
But forget the numbers. Just kindly explain to me why Israel has lost hundreds of its soldiers in Gaza. Why didn’t Israel just attack from the air and flatten Gaza if genocide was what Israel was after?
How long would this war take if Israel didn’t send in soldiers and just dropped bombs on Gaza? Spoiler: It would have ended on October 8th.
Finally, do you know how those numbers, again, even according to Hamas’ fake numbers, compare to other wars and conflicts in the world? Syria, for example.
If the numbers in Gaza are so microscopic compared to other wars, why is it that you haven’t heard about a genocide going on anywhere else but Gaza?
