A confidential complaint letter to CBI exposed the hypocrisy of the MP who has been vocal about 'Pegasus Story'!!

The complaint letter sent to the CBI director on 29.12.23 reads that Mahua Moitra conspired with senior police officers in West Bengal to carry out illegal surveillance, including physical location, using mobile phone number.

The complainant alleged that Mahua Moitra has a "history of misusing her connection in WB police to obtain CDR of private citizens to satisfy the personal desire to stalk .."

For readers, CDR (Call Details Record) captures extensive details of calls & location of the user. Police and security agencies use these "exclusive powers" ONLY in the dire need to track suspects and criminals.

Apart from records, they can track user's live location too.

The letter further reads "She had been actively tracking her ex-boyfriend, one Mr. Suhaan Mukerji as she suspected him of being in a relationship with a German lady by the name of Ms. Helena Lersch"

Allegedly Moitra was not just stalking Mukerji but Ms. Lersch too.

The letter has an annexure of a WhatsApp snapshot of CDRs and Moitra's claim that Ms. Helena & Mr. Mukerji are speaking through the night and so "I can't sleep getting terrible anxiety and panic"

Note that this privacy breach happened to score personal relationship matters.

Dramatic twist:

Suhaan Mukerji is among the top lawyers in India who owns his (legal) lobbying firm PLR Chambers in the field of governance, regulation, and public policy.

Notedly, Adv Mukerji was part of the legal advisor of the former Prime Minister (2012-14).

He has represented West Bengal state as counsel including for the defence of TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee in a coal scam.

It will be interesting to see how TMC leadership will absorb the embarrassment of illegal surveillance of the state counsel by party MP, using state police.

Mukerji has been Moitra's 'election agent' in AE2019. They apparently worked (as directors) for the same advisor company.

Then why & how did Mahua Moitra get desperate to the extent of intruding on privacy?

For that, let's go back to the complaint letter.

Analyzing the timeline, Mukerji & Moitra had been in a relationship for 7-8yrs till MM got suspicious about Mukerji dating Ms. Helena Lersch.

Ms. Lersch is the global public policy director of the Chinese company Bytedance (owns Tiktok).

Moitra allegedly aimed to destroy Lersch's career by e-mailing Lersch's officials about her involvement with state lawyer Suhaan Mukerji citing a conflict of interest.

Apparently, Moitra was so confident about the WB police officers who "can't refuse" her requests.

Here is an alarm, Ms. Helena Lersch is a German resident working for a Chinese company.

Imagine the international repercussions of being even suspected of being stalked by an Indian MP.

The height of desperation crossed when MM allegedly tracked down Mukerji once in a premium hotel in Delhi and booked a room on the same floor (as she was denied access to Mukerji's floor) to confront him.

She allegedly was accompanied by Caravan mag editor Anant Nath.

This is an ugly example of misusing power & unethical tracking of live locations.

At this junction let me remind you that Moitra has been consistently attacking govt on Pegasus and she also happens to be part of the Data Privacy bill discussion as an IT committee member.

The complainant, who is suspecting movement outside the residence & vehicle being tracked, said Moitra exploits her power as MP to threaten, and extract exact whereabouts and also claimed to have access to "phone-tapping" through WB top cop, apparently an IPS officer.

Now take a pause and measure the credibility of the Brut. celebrity MP who has been criticizing govt for 'not enough safeguard' Data Privacy bill and 'isolation with truth' on Pegasus.
