I've read and tested over 100 strategies since 2019.

There are countless bad ones,

And only a handful of good ones to draw from.

Here they are for free:

Most free strategies online have countless backtest errors,

But some hold value you can extract.

Be sure to check the books out as well.

I recently crossed 105 traders that I've assisted in turning their strategy ideas into code.

One trader's algo now manages $1,000,000 of capital.

If you know a trader of 2+ years looking to grow their trading to the next level using code.

I've built and run over 15+ algos over the past year,

With some now running with over $1,000,000 in capital.

Here are 6 learnings to help your strategy development:
1. Live data is invaluable.

Some will think "that's why i don't backtest" hearing this,

But that's not the lesson.

Getting your algo testing on live data,

Reveals mistakes in assumptions in your backtests.

Leading to better historical accuracy & more significant data.
2. Backtesting Library.

While It's easier to use Backtesting libraries or software,

They often lack the fine-grained control to fully debug/assess or change assumptions made.

Using them for performance metrics or smaller tasks can be useful,

But when possible build custom.

When I started trading my account went from:

$3,000 -> $1000 -> $2500 -> $750 -> $150,000+

Over almost 5 years, there were 5 golden light bulbs moments,

That transformed my trading from huge losses to consistent growth.

And I want to share them with you:
1. Process is everything.

Not just trusting the process in trading,

But also building out the necessary process such as:

• Journaling
• Backtesting
• Idea generation
• Execution

Creating a process you can follow for all of them will lead to 1% improvements every day.
2. Realistic Expectations.

We come into trading thinking we'll make 5% a day.

This is never realistic.

Instead, we need an even balance between optimism & realism.

The optimism driving us to continue working,

But also realism to accept success may take longer than expected.

I've helped deploy $1,000,000 in trading capital using algos.

There are 7 must haves before I take any algo live.

Here's a simple breakdown you can follow:
1. Backtests

Before taking any strategy live,

Testing is a must.

The simplest and most common is just a historical backtest,

Where we test the strategy using code and historical data to look for historical profitability. Image
2. Robustness test

A single historical equity curve is a good start,

But trade distribution is not uniform.

To account for this we want to ensure reliability by:

• Good out-of-sample,
• Good average Monte Carlo performance,
• Even performance on parameter sensitivity Image

What if you could predict price action?

That is exactly what machine learning can accomplish,

But it's one of the most challenging things to do correctly.

Until I read this book,

Here's everything you need to know to create predictive trading systems: Image
"Statistically Sound Machine Learning for Algorithmic Trading of Financial Instruments: Developing Predictive-Model-Based Trading Systems Using TSSB"

By David Aronson & Timothy Masters.

Is by far my favorite book on the topic. Image
It starts with the two approaches to automated trading:

1. Rules-based trading.

Which uses IF/THEN statements to create trade signals.

2. Predictive modeling.

Which uses mathematical algorithms to analyze historical data to identify patterns to predict future price movements.

I've been trading for 4 years and a half,

And coding for over 10 years.

Leading me to create 4 algos and generate $70,000+ in profit.

Here's the resources I wish I had when I started out:
30 Strategies All From One Book.

To pull ideas from.

$104,320.32 in profit,

49.81% winrate,

Are the backtest results from a strategy I found in a trading article,

That was published over 5 years ago.

Here's exactly how it works, plus all the code for free: Image
The "Accumulation/Distribution" strategy,

Introduced by Domenico D’Errico back in 2018.

It's based on the Dow theory,

Which believes stocks move in 3 trends:

• Primary trend.
• Secondary Trend.
• Minor trend.

These are then also different in bull/bear phases. Image
I've decided to explore making my own version of this strategy,

But if you want a good starting place,

Or to take the code for yourself.

Here's a version I found for Ninjatrader:
