Despite the scorched earth politiking & resistance from the other side, I had hopes that @reda_getachew and his like minded colleagues were going to succeed in bringing change to how we do politics in Tigray. The verdict is now in and it is that he has failed decisively.

Getachew’s presidency was doomed to fail from the get go. Insinuations of him being Abiy’s puppet run wild within the TPLF echo chamber & still being echoed by the likes of @dedebitmedia. TPLF’s entitled reactionaries pulled all kinds of obstacles to render his govt ineffective.

For this & many other reasons, Getachew’s govt failed to deliver anything of value for Tigray. It made no progress toward recouping our occupied territories or stopping death by starvation or providing wounded members of TDF the care that they deserve.

It failed to deliver even on the simplest of things any govt can do. People are getting robbed in broad daylight, #ZewduHaftu’s killers are freely walking in the streets of Mekele, #Semhal continues to be illegally imprisoned.

But Getachew himself was also his own govt’s problem. He squandered valuable time to initiate whatever change there was that his limited power would have allowed him to effect. Instead, he focused more on saving TPLF or consolidating his power within it that he ignored the rest.

Things he could’ve done but failed to do include diverting govt resources away from TPLF, empowering the opposition & be transparent w/ the people. Periodic pressers & consultations on situation in Tigray & path forward could’ve gone a long way in ensuring a cooperative solution

Alas, that time is gone now. The thieving wing of the TPLF is able to depose Getachew with help from Tigray’s generals. Getachew is a sitting duck who can’t do anything without the blessings of the crooks running the show.

Desye Ashenafi speaks of the sustained pressure & threats of violence that the generals put on sitting TPLF cc members who voted to relieve Debretsion & Monjorno from their leadership positions. I hope @Tewodros_Tse or @UMDMedia_ will interview Desye at least to preserve history.

In this light, Sebhat Nega’s incendiary allegations of treason on members of Getachew’s administration:
1) was a victory speech on behalf of the entitled oligarchs, and
2) hints into what TPLF has in store for Getachew come the general assembly

Getachew leads a lame duck govt with little to no control over Tigray’s administrative structure. He leads a govt that has effectively been bullied into submission by generals turned war lords.

Question now is what will Getachew do after all this? Will he bow to Sebhat’s TPLF or will he break free & stand with his people? If Getachew respects himself & the people he ‘governs’, I think he should follow Dr Atinkut’s suit & RESIGN unless he too is in the thieving business.
