How to move a list of references from a paper/book to Zotero without typing them all manually: A screenshot of a list of references in a PDF and Zotero.
1. Copy the references you want to export to Zotero and paste them into ChatGPT with the following prompt:

Please convert this list of references into a BibTeX file.

ChatGPT will do the needful.
2. Copy the code ChatGPT generates and paste it into Notepad.
3. In Notepad, click on File and then Save as. Save this file as .bib

I am saving the file as References.bib
4. Open Zotero and click on File and then Import.

Select the first option "A file" and click on Next.

Navigate to the References.bib file you just saved and click on Open.

Zotero will ask you if you want to put the items in a new collection.

Click Next and that's it.

Worried about ChatGPT making up fake research papers that don't exist?

Here's a simple trick to make sure it doesn't.

This will take you only two minutes. And it works with ChatGPT 3.5.
1. Open ChatGPT and click on your profile photo in the bottom-left corner.

Select "Custom instructions."

In the first box, write "I am an academic researcher."

In the second box, write "Any claims and opinions you cite must be supported with references to published sources. Do not make up any sources. If you don't know a source, simply tell me that you don't know any relevant sources."

Then click on "Save."
2. Now when you ask ChatGPT any question, it will give only give you published sources.

I asked ChatGPT to give me the titles of five books by David Damrosch.

It gave me four books and an edited volume in which Damrosch has an essay.

Not a single fake reference.

A challenge almost every writer faces — how to get started started on a piece?

Here's how ChatGPT can help you get started 👇

If you follow these steps, you will never face the writer's block again.
Open your MS Word and click on the "Dictate" button in the top-right corner.

Click on "Dictate" in the menu and start talking about what you want to write. As you talk, Word will transcribe.

Talk as much as you can. The more the better.

This will be your zero draft.
The purpose of a zero draft is to help you process your ideas in and through prose. You don't have to show your zero draft to anyone.

Don't worry about structuring or organizing your zero draft.

Just focus on generating as much text as possible.
