Soumyajit became youngest national champion at age of 19, represented India twice in Olympics, attained a career-high 58th ranking in Int'l Table Tennis Federation rankings but all went downhill when in March 2018, he got accused of Rape on Pretext of Marriage by his girlfriend
The allegations alone led to his suspension from Table Tennis Federation of India & drop from CWG squad. He kept crying that he really wanted to marry the girl but broke up because she was blackmailing him, but obviously, no one heard his cries.
He had proofs but no one saw!

Immense media trial, strong hit to his glorious career & a charge of POCSO (as girl was minor when they started dating) Soumyajit gave in

This was the same girl who took out protests on streets of Kolkata demanding death penalty for Rapists, aided & surrounded well by women's rights organizations to build pro Max pressure!! Soumyajit Ghosh was ofcourse projected as a monster daily in media for months.
What I saw rolled out in public during this case is a story worth making Gone Girl 2 on !!!

In January 2019, within 5 months of their marriage, Tulika filed a dowry, domestic violence & many more cases against Soumyajit, his parents, his 2 uncles & a cousin!
Once again, he was back from Table Tennis Court to Legal Courts !!!

From whatever I could find on internet, doesn't look like Soumyajit could ever get back to his heydays. He bounced back a little in 2022 & said he's aiming for 2024.
I really hope he's able to get back one day but whenever I think of this case, I really feel bad.
