I announced today that Canada is sending over 800 SkyRanger R70 multi-mission Unmanned Aerial Systems to Ukraine.
These drones, valued at over $95 million, will help Ukraine as it fights bravely to defend itself from Russia’s illegal and unjustifiable invasion. 🇨🇦🇺🇦
The more than 800 drones, sourced from Teledyne FLIR in Waterloo, Ontario, have automated and autonomous navigation systems, enabling them to carry various camera systems and payloads. This multi-rotor drone is one of the best of its kind in the world.
🧵 It’s not only assault rifles that Erin O’Toole wants to legalize.
His promises to the gun lobby will bring in thousands of guns that have never been legal in Canada, like concealable pistols, combat shotguns, and anti-material rifles.
During his leadership campaign, Erin O’Toole was presented with this list of requests by gun lobbyists.
Almost all of their requests went directly into his platform, including the Simplified Classification System.
The Simplified Classification System would undo 40 years of work on gun control.
It was adopted as official Conservative Party policy in 2016, and O’Toole has promised to put it into law it if elected.
This morning, my team was informed that a large number of our signs had been taken from lawns and dumped in a wooded area. This type of behaviour is criminal, undemocratic, and un-Canadian. 1/4
These signs had been put up in front yards across Scarborough Southwest by a hard-working group of volunteers. If your lawn had one of the signs that were taken, please email my team and info@votebillblair.ca - we'll get one back-up right away. 2/4
When I knock on doors here in Scarborough Southwest, I see signs of all colours - red, blue, orange, green - and this is exactly how it should be. It represents the diversity of opinions, beliefs, and value systems that make our communities and our country so incredible. 3/4
We have to take action based on facts and evidence—not fear and misinformation—if we want to win the fight against COVID-19. FACT: Canada’s borders have been closed to non-essential travel for more than a year. Thread ⤵️
It’s been 16 months since Canada became one of the first countries to enforce enhanced screening measures at our border to detect COVID-19, long before the WHO declared COVID-19 a global pandemic. These measures now apply to all travellers.
We adapted our response as the threat to public health evolved. When the UK variant started its spread around the world, we suspended flights from that country. Today, there are NO direct flights landing in Canada from COVID-19 hotspots, such as India and Pakistan.
This week is #EmergencyPreparedness Week! And @Safety_Canada has come prepared with many tips and tricks on how to keep you and your loved ones safe in case of an emergency.
As the weather changes and the impacts of climate change are felt more and more, all Canadians should prepare an emergency kit for weather-related emergencies.
But weather-related hazards aren’t the only types of emergencies you should be prepared for. Every Canadian should have a home emergency plan so you can be #ReadyforAnything 👇
