🧵 It’s not only assault rifles that Erin O’Toole wants to legalize.

His promises to the gun lobby will bring in thousands of guns that have never been legal in Canada, like concealable pistols, combat shotguns, and anti-material rifles. During his leadership campaign, Erin O’Toole was presented with this list of requests by gun lobbyists.

Almost all of their requests went directly into his platform, including the Simplified Classification System.

This morning, my team was informed that a large number of our signs had been taken from lawns and dumped in a wooded area. This type of behaviour is criminal, undemocratic, and un-Canadian. 1/4 These signs had been put up in front yards across Scarborough Southwest by a hard-working group of volunteers. If your lawn had one of the signs that were taken, please email my team and info@votebillblair.ca - we'll get one back-up right away. 2/4

Today marks 1 year since our government chose to do more than offer only thoughts and prayers in response to gun violence.

On May 1, 2020, we took decisive action to prohibit the sale, use, and importation of 1,500 assault-style firearms designed for military use. In Canada and around the world, we’ve seen examples of the devastation that gun violence can cause – at École Polytechnique de Montréal in 1989, in Quebec City in 2017, and most recently in Nova Scotia last year.
