It’s over 33 Celsius / 92 Fahrenheit at the moment in Thailand which makes it unbearable for some of the street dogs with long hair. I spotted this old girl a few days ago in a different area to where I normally feed and I could see she was in agony. Just moving 10-20 yards was painful for her.
As well as the overgrown fur it was mixed in with sharp pines and big matted clumps on her ears and right into her mouth. As well as that as we started to shave her we could see 100s of ticks and fleas. The amount of pain this girl must have been in is hard to imagine.
It took about 2 hours to clean her up and hand pick ever tick out of her. She also got a full health check up and a lovely little bandana to send her on her way back to the safe place where she lives.
We do lots of bigger way more impactful stuff than this with dogs at scale but sometimes just changing the world for one dog makes all the difference. It feels just as nice for us seeing the dog pain free as it does for the dog. I can only imagine how nice she feels tonight.
Just this morning she was invisible to the world and miserable but tonight she’ll sleep well 🥰🙏
I know she’s only one little street dog in Thailand and there’s a lot of bad news in the world but I love just thinking of how she felt waking up versus going to sleep tonight 🥰🥰
The prettiest girl there ever was. She looks so proud of herself now

It was Valentina’s latest vet appointment today and have to say it went much better than I could have ever wished for.
She’s still in grave danger but there is now some hope… (1/6) 🧵
She woke up after about a 16 hour sleep looking way better. As ever Hank is hanging around fussing over her. I was worried they wouldn’t get on when she came in 2 days ago. How wrong I was. (2/6)
We decided not to go to the vets yesterday as it was 33C outside and a 3 hour round trip and she was really struggling. We worried her lung had collapsed and she might not make the trip. She’s on a bunch of meds but quality of life was in our thoughts (3/6)
16 days ago Billy came into my world and even though it’s been incredibly tough to figure it all out we’ve made some big progress.
Today Billy is in the best state since I’ve met him after he got attack but the journey has been long (1/6) 🧵
As usual it always starts with a WhatsApp message from a friend. We still have no idea where Billy came from or how he got there but he was badly attacked. He’d been slashed around the head (2/6)
We’d a very very tough 3-4 days with him as he was riddled with anxiety. We later found it this was PTSD caused by the attack.
We also found in initial tests he had heart worms, was 80% blind and some other health issues. He needed hospital 1000km away (3/6)
A little update on Valentina. She’s been having a few very challenging days after a good start.
This often happens when dogs come in off the streets. Their bodies stop fighting and they relax as they finally feel safe. That can be when the big problems show up (1/7) 🧵
After getting some bad blood tests in her second round of checks she started to go downhill. She’s become weak.
The weather is crazy hot here at 33C / 92 F so she moved into the office. Her organs were all fine but we hadn’t checked the lungs initially (2/7)
It’s never a good sign when they come to my house. It’s the ultimate refuge for them as I have air con and they can have proper peace and quiet.
Hank welcomed her in but u was scared he was so big and clumsy and she was so frail he could crush her by mistake (3/7)
Back in later September I found Cindy Crawford laying in the street. She was beached and had pretty much given up on life. After months of hard work, medicines and dieting today she left happy doggo land… (1/4) 🧵
You can see her this morning who fit and healthy she is. I think you say she is radiant. Everything form her eyes to her fur and body language has changed. Shes lost a total of 24lbs now (2/4)
While I’ll certainly miss her every single day the main thing I’m happy about is the fact that Cindy has her dignity back.
She could even walk 10 yards when she arrived and was close to a heart attack. Now she is full of life (3/4)
A short thread to show that things always get better. This is Hope. She was shot with a nail gun and sliced with a machete in the jungle in Thailand.
Luckily this story has a very happy ending (1/5) 🧵
Hope was like a rock when she first came in. I had to carry her to the toilet for about a month as she wouldn’t move an inch. The physical wounds healed very quickly but the mental ones not so much (2/5)
If there’s one thing I’ve learnt with sick or abused dogs the best healer is time. Probably the same with humans. It took her months to decompress but she came around over time (3/5)
Amazing how a dog can transform in just 4 weeks. On Christmas Eve she was hiding in 7-11 after having boiling water and oil thrown over her. She wasn't too sure about me at first 😬😬😬
Things have certainly changed today (1/6) 🧵
Eve had so much pain at the start she couldn’t eat, drink or even pee for 2 days. We had to force feed her. When she did improve she spent over a week walking sideways. She had 5 vet visits, constant cleaning and pain relief. It was a very worrying time (2/6)
Despite the pain she was in and what a human had done to us she let us do whatever we wanted to her without question. She had ups and downs with cracks and skin peeling but she’s been getting better fast (3/6)
