Woah. Ted Cruz’s Super PAC just reported receiving $214,752.98 from iHeartMedia in February in a new FEC filing.
iHeartMedia is a registered lobbyist—they also host and market his podcast.
Two years ago Cruz’s office said:
“Senator Cruz receives no financial benefit from Verdict. There is no difference between Sen. Cruz appearing on a network television show, a cable news show or a podcast airing on iHeartMedia.” forbes.com/sites/zachever…
Also—after filming his podcast in an iHeart studio for years, he mysteriously stopped filming them a month ago.
The same month his PAC gets a couple hundred thousand dollars from them?
The Senate ethics rules prohibit senators from “knowingly accepting a gift from a registered lobbyist” or from collecting honorarium for an “appearance, speech, or article.”
iHeartMedia has spent $915,000 lobbying Congress last quarter.
Here we go. The Texas Senate has advised Saturday votes on 3 major bills allowing Republicans to seize control of elections—targeting Harris County, the biggest (and bluest) in Texas.
This is what fascist control looks like.
The first bill, S.B.1070, would abolish the elections administrator position in counties with more than 3.5 million people—which *only* includes Harris County.
This bill would likely end efforts to expand voting access in the county.
The second bill, S.B.1933, would give Greg Abbott’s handpicked Sec. of State the power to overturn elections in Harris County.
The SOS doesn’t even need to prove election malfunctions (like running out of paper ballots)—they just need to have “good cause.”
