Who wants another thread with sources on how things are bad in Russia?!
Let me know and then bookmark this tweet for later so you can find it if/when I write it!
Buckle in, we’re going on an adventure!
Be prepared:
1. This is going to be more specific than the long one
2. This may not end where you think it will. (Honestly, these threads have a life their own, there’s a good chance it doesn’t end where I think it will)
There will be typos, I’ve accepted it. I do this all on an iPhone. It is what it is. I just consider it part of my charm.
Also there will be references to other threads to explain topics
So now for our starting point!
Russian Academy of Sciences “scientists estimate that it will cost 280 billion rubles a year to lift Russia’s large families out of poverty”
First of all, when you get into these numbers, and then perhaps switch it to another currency than you are familiar with, it just makes it hard to wrap your brain around.
Side Note: If you read about a salary in Russia they are typically referring to 1 months pay.
So let’s look at things to give you some scale of what 280 Billion Rubles per year is comparable to.
31.4 Billion Rubles is how much Russia cut from 2024’s Healthcare budget. Bringing the entire Russian 2024 Budget down to
This insane project where they want build a mega resort in Occupied Zaporizhzhia, and are very likely to use Captured Ukrainians as forced labor on the land Russia stole from them.
280 Billion Rubles per year is what they estimate to lift LARGE families out of poverty. And a LARGE family is 3 or more children.
Does 3 children seem like a large family where you’re from? 🧐
I’m curious, maybe this is just a regional thing. Personally I would classify LARGE as 4 or more kids.
I have 3 kids and 2-3 kids seems just regular sized here.
There’s several things I want you to talk about next, and I’m not sure if there is a way to put them in a logical order, so just hang in there!
So I want make it clear that this is the number that was calculated based on ROSSTAT data and what was DECLARED the 2023 poverty line.
You know it’s really easy to lower the percentage of people in poverty on paper if you just…lower the poverty line. It’s like magic!
I’m going to refer to this thread now as the Russian Inflation Gaslighting thread.
Where this guy with the Russian Central Bank tries to argue that nobody else knows what they’re talking about, and everyone is just misunderstanding what’s actually happening.
Seriously you NEED to read that thread to understand how Russia is manipulating its inflation data. And a lot more “experts” than you think are using Russia’s “official” data as if it truly reflects what is actually happening in Russia.
I’m going to take a break here so everyone has time to read about the inflation because it’s really important.
That way you can appreciate the train wreck I’m going to show you 😇
(Also I’m terrified of accidentally deleting the thread before it posts…because that’s happened)
I’m going to add a few more notes to make it clearer what you should be seeing. Because you definitely read the inflation thread! Right?
It is shocking how many things Russia has tied back to the inflation rate, that all know by now is being manipulated.
So this study is using Rosstat numbers that are being manipulated.
And remember, the prices may be correct in Rosstat’s model because the PRICES were being manipulated before they went into the model and the extra costs are hidden elsewhere.
And those costs AREN’T included in the consumer basket therefore it makes inflation look artificially lower (much lower) than it actually is.
That means that Russia is struggling to get people to above the OFFICIAL poverty line.
But in actuality the amount of money needed to pull people out of poverty in REALITY is much higher.
The Russian government has rigged the game but is still losing.
And the more I talk about this, it might be helpful to imagine it as a pyramid scheme. Where nothing is like they try to tell everyone it is.
To be continued…
Why do I keep pointing at the inflation rate and the demographic crisis?
BECAUSE it is at the heart of a lot Russia’s problems. These 2 topics and how Putin is trying to manipulate or hide the data are a major problem.
It’s important to remember that Putin has been in power for well over 20 years. He has had plenty of time to fix these problems, but hasn’t.
These are HIS problems.
I wrote this thread (that I think someone turned into an article somewhere) that shows actual math of how bad the demographics are in Russia.
You may think that demographics are bad in Europe too, but trust me, Russia is worse.
Acting if you will fast forward toward the end of this video, you’ll see Simonyan and Solovyov discuss the demographic problems and how that could solve that which is disturbing when you realize what they’re actually doing
Ok, I’m assigning homework because I want you to see a historical example of how badly things can go wrong. And I think there’s a lot of people who don’t know about it.
Decree 770 was signed in 1967 and it restricted abortion AND contraception in Romania.
They just forced people to have children without making sure the people could AFFORD the children. It was bad…really bad.
I’m going to recommend a podcast about the guy who signed it and some of the fallout from it. You can listen to it on pretty much any podcast platform but I’ll give you YouTube links since that will be available for everyone on here (I think)
Part 1:
Part 2:
Part 3
I think it’s pretty universally agreed, this guy sucked. And that’s an understatement. But boy did the Romanian people give him a Christmas to remember!
Remember, you can use your bookmark feature to take your time and read all of this stuff. I know this thread is long and you probably won’t get through it all in one sitting.
Expect it to continue (as I write it in between doing other things) until I say it’s over.
We’re going to see repeating themes in a lot of this and a lot of it boils down to a few basic points:
- Not fixing the root cause of a problem, either because they don’t want to or because they can’t. In a lot of cases they just don’t put in the work or allocate the resources.
- When things go wrong, absolutely refusing to take responsibility for a problem and thus AGAIN not solving the root cause. This where we get a lot of bluff AND blame or more simply
🇷🇺: FEAR ME but also I’m the victim 🥺
Again, Putin has been in power for how long, and stuff sucks in Russia but somehow I still see arguments of:
“PUTIN WAS TRICKED, HE WAS FOOLED! THOSE ANGLO-SAXONS ARE AT IT AGAIN!”
But they never suggest they get a leader that isn’t fooled. It’s because it’s an excuse.
- Leadership just demanding things happen without any understanding of what is actually needed to make things happen.
This top down strategy especially when the top doesn’t know what they’re doing is the source of a lot of problems.
Here’s Medvedev reading Stalin’s telegrams to defense factories AGAIN. As if that helps (it certainly didn’t seem to the first time which is why he did it again)
Provide absolutely ZERO help in solving problems, it’s just threatening people.
When you don’t pay people enough, they pick up side hustles (like Russians selling tank parts to Ukraine) or corruption.
When you are severely punished for bad news, you hide the bad news. When you are not going to reap any rewards for hard work, you’re not going to work hard.
There is no upside to trying to fix these problems for an individual. In fact, pointing these problems out could get them in trouble. So people don’t.
Now imagine trying to solve issues in Russia when you have THIS work culture at every single stage.
Russia probably still doesn’t comprehend how bad things are. And when I say you can’t trust data from Russia. THIS is also what I’m talking about.
Russia uses covers for this by lying. And it’s important to realize that Russia will lie about anything and everything.
Something worth pointing out about the secret 7th paragraph of the mobilization order.
There were RUMORS it actually contained instructions about WHERE to focus mobilization efforts. And that it was primarily from the ethnic minority regions that had higher birth rates.
I’ve never seen the ACTUAL text of the 7th paragraph confirmed, but I highly doubt they would give themselves limits to how many they could recruit.
So there’s been a lot stories following themes “Russia will” of “Putin Demands” without people remembering to look if they can of if they’re even putting meaningful resources into doing that
🚨 Warning: I do not want you to take any of this as meaning that Russia ISN’T a threat.
Think of them as a guy that just stole a bulldozer and went on a rampage. He needs to be stopped, and it was a really bad idea to do this…but he can still do a lot of damage even if he’s eventually going to run out of gas.
It would be really nice if certain politicians weren’t willing to allow him to refuel the bulldozer
So if you read this thread (and this is an important one to read) you’ll see that Russia has not made any MEANINGFUL EFFORT to fix the birth rate in a way that makes people CHOOSE to have more children.
And I told you that inflation was a common theme. By artificially adjusting inflation, when someone looks at their budget and sees numbers raised to match inflation, everything looks fine, when it’s not!
He can get away with paying less
So instead of putting the work in, Russia is trying make women give birth and is pushing them towards as Decree 770 type situation.
Read this article for a fast recap. And a lot of women in Russia aren’t happy about it.
If we go back to the article that started this whole thread, you’ll see a list suggested actions for pulling people out of poverty.
I don’t think Russia is doing any of this. The in fact it’s probably the opposite.
Russian propaganda AND the Russian Ministry of Health is telling woman they shouldn’t get an education. That they should focus on getting pregnant. Preferably beginning by age 19 or 20.
Even though that’s EXACTLY what is needed to keep them out of poverty.
Who does Russia have available to provide childcare for all these new children? They’re out of labor and they’re even running off the migrants.
“the emergence of poverty is promoted by both economic reasons (lack of jobs, underemployment, low incomes) and social ones (disability, single-parent families, high dependency load, low qualifications, natural and social disasters leading to migration).”
Putin had caused ALL OF THESE!
ALL OF THEM!
He does have a fail-safe on migration. You can’t leave Russia if you have debt!
On the memos released. This is my own speculation from studying the documents. I believe that the documents released in July was written AFTER the document released in August.
Why?
Well I did an in-depth look at this. But it’s like, imagine you do a short write-up of an idea and you show it to your boss.
Your boss likes it but then says: “expand on this and give me a detailed action plan”
The “action plan” was released first.
But as far as WHEN it was written/when people in official circles became aware of it.
🚨 Speculation alert
I think April/May of 2023 based on some timing of things.
You can follow the details and all the data in this thread if you would like. But *assuming the memos are genuine* this a rough explanation of what happened.
But see, that’s where Oleg Matveychev begins to realize that there’s a problem.
See all these “turbo patriots” were pointing out MAJOR PROBLEMS that were occurring in the war. And these problems were making Putin (and Shoigu & Gerasimov) LOOK BAD!
So do they work on FIXING the problems?
👉 NO
They worked on getting the people to stop pointing out the problems!
And Progozhin just wouldn’t take a hint and Solovyov’s (and Simonyan’s) relationships with Prigozhin were starting to reflect badly on them.
Watch this video of Solovyov from December 2022. And think about how much different that is from what he says now.
I guess I should clarify that he wouldn’t allow these conversations since he’s not talking in that clip. But it is very similar to things Solovyov would say.
Solovyov would point out the soldiers did not have adequate kit. He would point out problems. Not so much anymore!
And Solovyov was on the action list of people who have gotten in trouble!
Here is on passage where basically the author is like: “If no one brings up the problem then the problem doesn’t exist!”
Several people have been attacked or killed are listed in this memo btw.
So fast forward in time and now it’s AFTER the Wagner rebellion and suddenly be associated with Prigozhin is dangerous. And maybe Putin is rethinking things. Girkin has also decided to get political.
So Putin throws Girkin in jail. (Again Girkin has been convicted by the ICC for shooting down a commercial passenger plane, none of these people are “good guys” they all suck)
And the first memo gets released suggesting that Solovyov will get arrested next.
He hasn’t been, but Girkin complained that they were torturing him in the detention center by playing Solovyov on TV non stop
The whole point of the memo was really how to neutralize threats to Putin. Not how to protect Russia or solve problems. It was all about how to protect Putin’s image.
And that meant burying the problems and getting people to stop pointing them out. NOT FIXING THEM.
Which again is sort of a running theme with this thread (and all the threads)
At one point in the leaked documents you’ll see the author point out the worries of dangers from the left when things like: INFLATION or WAGE DELAYS
But he thinks those are small in comparison to the problems on the right.
‼️ Now I want you to look at this page and see if you notice any of the things that have been going on…and how they are desperate to bury it instead of fix it
If you want to read through all the stuff and sources in connection to the memo (there’s more pages). Again, it’s all linked to this thread
For some reason people keep making these video petitions assuming that if people in power just heard what was REALLY happening they would do something.
If this memo is accurate, the reality is that they HATE those videos because it makes Putin look bad. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
“What was another plague? Thunder, lightning and hail [“grad” in Russian]. I have a feeling it was written about our Grad [rocket launcher]. A Grad will destroy all the people and animals and the fields with their crops”
What’s going wrong and why? Buckle in, because there’s going to be a lot!
(Maybe bookmark this because it will probably be a good resource)
What has triggered this thread?
The results of a survey of Russian doctors was recently released. I have a few articles on it. And I thought it would be a good idea to review the causes of issues mentioned & more.
(Be prepared for references, lots of references)
“Russian doctors complained en masse about the shortage of hundreds of drugs and the lack of medical equipment”
There have been a few Russian language articles that have come out related to this. I know I have several followers that are interested in what happened here that are also knowledgeable in the area so I wanted to at a minimum be able point people to them.
“Russian authorities are preparing to tighten control over emigrant citizens, the number of whom has broken records for more than 100 years since the start of the war with Ukraine.
For Russians living abroad, mandatory consular registration will be introduced from mid-2025.”
“According to Putin’s decree , the Cabinet of Ministers was instructed to take measures to “reduce the outflow of population” from the country.
