Just a short thread to cheer you all up this Monday. It’s very tough emotionally doing the dogs but this is the part that makes it worth it.
This is King Whacker of Scotland and today was a very special day for him… (1/6) 🧵
It’s well over a year since I got the call out to a dog that had been split open with a pick axe. It came within a millimeter of killing him. It was a long road to recovery and I was very new to helping dogs but he made it. (2/6)
I called him Whacker in a rush as he got a whack to the head. He then become King Whacker as he looked and acted so regal with his cone and in general. He was a street dog who I promised would never go back to the streets (3/6)
His full title was extended to King Whacker of Scotland when he was adopted there last year. I met him in the summer and I was so happy when he hadn’t forgotten me.
I always worried about Whacker as he was a proper street dog and never knew a home or any love but.. (4/6)
I log in today after a long hard day helping other dogs and I see he’s been thrown his very own birthday party. It’s his 1st / 7th birthday party all in one. My heart very nearly exploded with happiness (5/6)
King Whacker of Scotland was a street dog with nothing in life who someone wanted dead. Look at him now as proud as can be being spoilt and sharing a bed with his adopted brother. I’m so proud of him. Not everything is bad in this world 🥰🥰🥰 (6/6)

Today we were able to go and get Rusty’s little friend off her chain. She has also been on it for over 14 months.
Shes in good shape as volunteers have fed her daily and given her medicines during this time (1/5) 🧵
She’s very nervous of the real world. Her muscles in her legs are also very weak from lack of movement.
She got a full vet check up and some small issues but fixable (2/5)
We called her Liberty or Libby for short as she now finally has her freedom. She’s incredibly gentle and a tad nervous. Its a totally different area but she could nearly be Cindy Crawfords little daughter we joked (3/5)
This boy has been on a chain for the last 14 months. Some local volunteers feed him daily and even negotiated (yes that’s a real thing) to be allowed take him on the odd walk.
Today he got his freedom and the hope of a new life… (1/5) 🧵
This has been his life to date. It’s very rural and some neighbours shot his sister because they played on their land. Thats why he had to be tied up.
There is a 2nd dog also chained up. It’s 40C or 95F here at the moment. A horrible life (2/5)
There’s a huge lack of knowledge and much education needed locally. Unfortunately he has picked up a couple of injuries from the child sitting on his back and the chain constantly getting tied up in his legs. (3/5)
Today I’m over in Sri Lanka rolling out the 7th partnership we have in 3rd country for sterilising street dogs. Its an incredible operation that we are funding and part of the 2200 dogs a month well now sterilise. The scale is starting to get exciting… (1/6) 🧵
I figured the quickest way to help dogs at scale was find world class partners. We focus at what we are good at…
💰 Providing funding
📈 Marketing and awareness
The wonderful Partner is WeCare. A charity founded by a vet called Janey… (2/6)
The lorry is state of the art and can sterilize 30 dogs a day and provide education to locals. This is very much a pilot. I want to get more of these trucks on the road ASAP.
So much more can be achieved for the dogs by working together (3/6)
A little check in on some of the dogs. Only good news today…
Chance is drastically better. The eyes tell you everything this week versus last. Her skin is healing, her bloods are fixed and her tail is wagging. Shes not the only one… (1/4) 🧵
Remember when little Eve was red raw after getting burnt and couldn’t walk? Well this is her today. She is like a 🚀 and her leg is fully pain free (2/4)
Little Billy is doing wonderfully. He loves cuddles and has calmed down completely now. He loves walking and Eve is his best friend and she shows him around as he struggles.
He even walked through 20 cows today like a boss but not sure her even saw them 😅😅 (3/4)
Some rescues are quick but this one has taken about 8 months so far… the ending today is beautiful though. Worth all the pain and suffering these 2 girls have been through.
The trauma for Lina and Sophie started when we were warned to move them “or else” (1/6) 🧵
They were so traumatized that we couldn’t touch them. People had been throwing rocks at them. After our fairly rough catching of them (we had to act fast) they really didn’t like humans at all. 4 were rehomed and we were left with 3 (2/6)
Things then went downhill so fast. They all contracted parvo. The little brother sadly died super fast. I still don’t know how the 2 sisters survived. It took 15 days in the vets hanging on for dear life on a drip (3/6)
The first is that he got groomed today and is feeling unbelievably good. ✂️ 🧼
He says it’s the youngest he’s felt in years and thinks it shows off his beast feature lovely… his ears.
But Billy has even bigger news (1/4) 🧵
Billy was incredibly well behaved and trusting. His health problems are all nearly fixed and he is looking superb.
He doesn’t have any signs of stress or PTSD which he had when he arrived. He’s a very relaxed dog again. Next up are his eyes 👀 (2/4)
The big news is that Billy just got an appointment with an eye specialist and to have his operation on the 27th April. It’s in the big hospital 800km away but he’s all booked in.
Thanks to the generosity of a kind person online Billy should regain full sight (3/4)
