Florida media malpractice, example #27648: @pbpost
journalist asserts that Gov. DeSantis somehow spent $577 MILLION to create an "anti-immigrant" (?) online dashboard to measure the burden that illegal immigration imposes on taxpaying citizens. In reality, the dashboard cost only $5,000 to create.
Apparently the same journalists who wildly exaggerated COVID risks have not learned from their mistakes and remain proudly ignorant of data & statistics.
@pbpost Here is the response from @AHCA_FL correcting this error. Let's see if @pbpost retracts their falsehoods! #Misinformation
Note that @pbpost published an incendiary, false headline about @AHCA_FL without reaching out to the agency for comment or fact-checking. This behavior violates basic principles of journalism.
Journalists like this make a mockery of their own profession, then they lament that WE are responsible for destroying their industry's reputation just because we NOTICED their malpractice.

🧵THREAD: Yesterday’s piece by @jasonrileywsj starts with a pathetic headline and only gets worse.
That the Governor of Florida is a “Florida Man” who stands up for his fellow Florida men is nothing to scoff at. In fact, it’s the very reason @GovRonDeSantis is so popular in Florida.
Moreover, taking action to stop discrimination against American citizens does not imply “animus” toward H-1B workers or anybody else. In fact, American elected officials have the duty to put the interests of Americans first – and that’s what Gov. DeSantis has done by ending the H-1B scam in Florida’s university system.
Riley’s criticism of Gov. DeSantis rests on the flawed assumption that mass immigration can only be harmful for America if it is illegal. @GovRonDeSantis view is that all immigration policy ought to be crafted with the best interests of our nation and our citizens at the forefront. As Biden’s destructive policies have proven, the fact that an immigration program may be “legal” does not necessarily make it good for Americans.
Biden’s expansion of TPS, for example, allowed dictators like Venezuela’s Nicolas Maduro to exploit our immigration system to send countless foreign criminals into our country, who enjoyed legal protections against deportation at the expense of our safety. And when Zohran Mamdani was elected mayor of NYC last night, he credited his victory to legal immigrants hailing from third-world countries (where ideologies like Marxism, “decolonization,” and political Islamism are more widespread).
Likewise, H-1B workers have legal status – but the H-1B program is deeply flawed and has had a net negative impact on Americans over the past 35 years.
Riley points to Florida’s low unemployment rate as an argument for H-1B visas, but his numbers don’t tell the whole story. 2025 has seen a significant rise in unemployment for young college graduates, with STEM degree holders (including computer science majors) among those facing especially high unemployment rates.
Bright young Americans who are just trying to start their careers are being forced to compete with the third-world for an entry-level professional job. And experienced American workers across the country are falling victim to mass layoffs, which have coincided with corporations hiring thousands of foreign H-1B workers – especially in tech and finance.
As for Riley’s claim that H-1B workers are paid more than Americans working in similar jobs, other studies have shown the opposite. A 2020 EPI report found that 60% of all H-1B jobs are assigned wage levels that are well below the local median wage. This translates into salaries that are significantly lower than local median salaries—17% to 34% lower on average for computer occupations, which are among the most common H-1B occupations.
Moreover, the H-1B program makes foreign workers into a class of indentured servants. They cannot switch employers for better opportunities like an American can. The H-1B program has thereby created powerful perverse incentives for American corporations to discriminate against American citizens.
It’s just plain wrong if American companies – which owe their existence to and benefit immensely from the American consumer market, rule of law / court system, and infrastructure that we taxpayers fund – are “legally” empowered to discriminate against US citizens at scale and participate in a replacement of American high-skilled professionals.
🧵🚨Changing the constitution cannot be taken lightly. As Floridians, we have a duty to make informed decisions about proposed amendments on our ballots. So with 10 days to go, I'm compiling this mega-thread to share reasons why many conservatives are voting NO on Amendment 3!
Our great governor @GovRonDeSantis has been speaking out against Amendment 3 because it's not about freedom. It's about corporate greed. A handful of corporations should not be able to write their revenue strategy into Florida's constitution.
@GovRonDeSantis First Lady @CaseyDeSantis has been a leading voice in opposition to Amendment 3. In this roundtable, she explains why she's voting NO on 3:
Last night, at least a dozen mainstream media reporters were wined and dined by members of Team Trump and given talking points to parrot leading up to, and during, the debate he isn't at...
🧵Let’s see how their coverage has gone today:
Up first, @DanaBashCNN. Hmm, this doesn’t seem suspicious at all!
By the way, who decides where the "spotlight" shines? Does the media not make decisions about whom they cover and how?
@DanaBashCNN How about NY Times reporter @ShaneGoldmacher?
Surely, the publication that Trump hilariously nicknamed “The New York Slime” won’t run to his aid?
You open-border advocates live in a bubble & IDEALIZE 3rd world nations, like everyone who lives there is an angel — so they can all come & live here unvetted.
I’d LOVE to see what happens if an American liberal shows up in a foreign country without required documentation.
I say this as an American, daughter of an immigrant, and I’ve lived half my adult life in foreign countries including places where a lot of refugees come from. I’m for genuine political asylum seekers, but I know how even our “legal immigration” system is abused by bad people.
For example, you’re from Venezuela & fleeing political persecution for being anti communist? Great, go to Mexico (safe country) & apply for asylum here. But not everyone from Venezuela is a political refugee. The refugees are running from other Venezuelans…
Underrated aspect of Martha’s Vineyard meltdown today: The funding for transporting illegal aliens to sanctuary jurisdictions was a highlight of the budget @GovRonDeSantis signed MONTHS ago. Dem legislators performing outrage today voted for it 🤡
Promises made, promises kept.
Always one step ahead 😎
“Context” = Democrats desperate attempts at PR spin.
Almost every Dem, from Lauren Book to Anna Eskamani, voted for the budget & funding for the transport of illegal aliens out of Florida. Now they’re pretending to be PUZZLED and SHOCKED that it actually happened 🤡
