The thing I wasn't clear on from Israeli media investigations was when it started. BBC says 5am. I haven't seen that time anywhere else. I've seen 'in the night', 'early hours'. The earliest time I've seen is 'about 6.30am' which was in the Ynet report. #TheDarkestDays
IDF soldier. 'None of us knew about a festival'.
Because it was moved at the last minute. Only the people attending knew. IDF didn't, neither did Hamas. #TheDarkestDays
9 hours in a portaloo. Nine. We usually hear 7 hours till IDF turned up. I'm inclined to believe 9 hours. You'd count every minute in a portaloo. #TheDarkestDays
So if it started at 5am. Nine hours later would be about 2pm. The long delay wasn't incompetence on the part of IDF. Hamas took out the comms and the IDF Gaza headquarters. It wasn't a random attack, it was a coordinated military raid. #TheDarkestDays
😮 Festival goers called IDF, police, got no response or were told "Figure it out, you're in a war zone."
By 2pm, IDF had already gone full Hannibal Directive. First drones (killer robots) then Apache helicopters. IDF couldn't tell who to shoot. They were told "shoot everything".
Gun battle at the festival between IDF and Hamas. We've heard from investigations there was 'heavy crossfire'. People were killed, no way to know who by. BBC have testimony. Also video, or seems to? But this detail was missing from the Al Jazeera 7 October documentary.
So in the testimony, they're saying the gun battle started the moment IDF arrived. So that was about 2pm-ish.
The battle went on for many hours. A fresh wave of Hamas soldiers arrived after IDF did. The girls in the portaloo were still there.
So maybe IDF did arrive after 7 hours? But the girls say the battle went on for many hours. And were there for 9 hours. It's not adding up. ??
I can't get a handle on what happened when.
Why are there no timestamps on the videos? That would help.
I don't doubt the testimonies. We've heard the exact same from other eye witnesses. But it's odd there's no sense of timing.
The burnt out cars and dead bodies of the fleeing festival goers. IDF Apache helicopters, Hannibal Directive. Not Hamas, they don't have the weaponry. #TheDarkestDays
Post-battle is what the Al Jazeera doc showed, suggesting IDF arrived to find dead bodies, not that IDF had just shot a whole load of them. The Al Jazeera doc maker concluded Hamas killed the most people. Israeli media investigations all say IDF did. #TheDarkestDays #7October
I don't know why AJ missed out the battle? The AJ doc maker followed the evidence. There's no video or audio of a battle at the festival afaik, only eye witness statements. Could be that? He chose to stick with video evidence?
BBC say Hamas attacked more than 20 Israeli towns and kibbutzim. Fails to say why. It was bc they all have IDF bases there, close to Gaza.
BBC say more than 1,200 people were killed. Israel revised it down to 'over 1,000' in Dec 2023. And IDF killed most of them.
BBC says, 'largest loss of Israeli life in a single day'. Fails to say 'by IDF'.
'Israel vows to destroy those who brought this terror here'.
Yeah. IDF. And it's fair to say Israel is destroying itself.
It's over 30 mins now and we're still on Israel.
Now we're on Gaza. 'Gaza is so close. You can see it.' What's left of it.
More than 32,000 dead 'according to the Hamas-run Health Ministry'.
BBC saying 'Hamas-run' is Zionist propaganda. Israel uses the data from the Gaza Health Ministry. Everyone does. Have done for many years.
Palestinian Red Crescent videos and eye witness accounts. I've seen some of these on Al Jazeera TV. Now there's video and audio of bombs and shooting as well as testimonies. I'm going to struggle with these 25 minutes or so. 😢💔 These are the real #TheDarkestDays #GazaGenocide
The thing with *so much* carnage is there's no time to reflect. Not a moment to spare to be sentimental, sympathise, or watch people sit with sad tearful faces in long silences, the odd sniffle here and there. Unfolding genocide is *relentless*. #GazaGenocide #TheDarkestDays
Palestinian Red Crescent write down the name, age, etc of every person wounded or killed, which goes towards the data the Gaza Health Ministry collate. They also gather data from hospitals and funeral services. Since Israel took down the internet, it's been harder to track.
IDF don't have the first idea exactly how many they're bombing. Not with Gospel and Lavender AI systems making decisions for them. Drones that shoot don't have black boxes. So the best data is from the Gaza Health Ministry. #TheDarkestDays
Palestinian paramedic saying, "When you hold a child's body parts in your hands, you remember holding your own child. And that makes us..."
No time to finish the thought or even let emotions come up. Time to go. The ambulances are needed. #TheDarkestDays #GazaGenocide
The Palestinian paramedic's uncle's house was bombed the previous day, everyone under the rubble. His cousin was being pulled out. When he arrived, someone said they found a girl, or half of her. They had to figure out what to do with body parts they rescued. His family.
BBC aren't showing the carnage. It's Blue Peter. Some scenes of everyone in shock, traumatised, paramedics crying. #TheDarkestDays #GazaGenocide BBC should stop calling it a war. Babies don't fight back.
11 October, 2pm, IDF bombed an ambulance. Paramedics had to collect the dead bodies of their colleagues. #TheDarkestDays #GazaGenocide
Then IDF struck Al-Awda hospital and ambulances.
BBC: "On 22 December, the medics were forced to suspend their work in northern Gaza. They say their base was attacked by the IDF."
BBC creating false doubt. #TheDarkestDays #GazaGenocide
The paramedics BBC followed are still alive (at the time the doc was made)
BBC: "364 health workers have now been killed, according to a UN OCHA report published on 6 March quoting the Hamas-run Gaza Health Ministry."
'Hamas-run' again. Mealy-mouthed weasel words. #TheDarkestDays
That's it. Palestine got about 25 mins. Knew it would. Israel got 31 mins with a lot of long silences to elicit 'aww poor thing' responses from us. Barely had a moment to breathe in the 25 mins on Gaza.
Terrible presenter. 'Israel is now accused of war crimes. Even genocide!'
Gordon Bennett. We're back on Israel. Chilling in Tel Aviv. People in cafes have a lovely time. Sitting on park benches. Posters of the hostages everywhere. Not a word in this whole hour of the 10,000+ hostages Israel took from Palestine and held without charge. #TheDarkestDays
Vox pops of Israelis
'not sure anymore if Palestinians and Israelis can live together'
'I believe people want to live in peace'
Israeli protests against Netanyahu for not bringing hostages home.
Palestine.
"To end the violence, Israel must end its decades long occupation. That's what most Palestinians say."
West Bank
"Palestinians say hundreds of innocent people being killed in the West Bank too."
Closing remarks. US and allies. Talk of peace, two-state solution. "A grand bargain to remake the Middle East."
"Others say it's not the time."
"Israeli leaders say October 7 demands that they focus on Israeli security, not peace."

Right, stop being interesting. I want to crochet a lace scarf for my sister and I left it too late to start. I've got 4 days. And I can't go fast or my hands hurt. So save anything good till next week, please. And don't tell her. It can be our little secret. 😉🤫Ssshhh! Shush.
If anything good happens, put your hand up! ✋ Stop!
I'm watching #BadSisters with my crochet. Is the original on Channel 4? Anyone know?
I got lost in Spotify algorithms and now I'm here. No idea what this is but I like it.

How f'd up are the Iranian authorities. I say 'authorities', I mean weak spineless cowardly men who leverage religion for personal gain. They gassed little girls at school, then arrested their concerned parents. #IranianSchoolHolocaust is trending in UK. The world is watching.
Sometimes, I feel like I should tweet 'relearn how to care' every day, but I don't want to be 'preachy' or boring. But that is the biggest thing we all need to do right now.
Relearn how to care = focus on #empathy
We need empathy to tackle the crises we're in, incl climate.
Capitalism drives empathy out of us from childhood. We are taught NOT to care for ourselves or others around us. We are disconnected from our humanity. Why? In order to be 'good little workers' or 'good soldiers' when we grow up. And vote against our best interests.
Reverse that.
We are the only species that creates destructive environments. Look where it's got us.
