@HarrisonGarlic1 the First Amendment is non-negotiable. There is to be no establishment of religion. Therefore, any argument for the passage of a law based on spiritual concerns is a non-starter.

@HarrisonGarlic1 In a secular society, when a clergyman tries to save a soul, all he can use is persuasion. This might seem limiting, but for the genuinely godly, in the long run, it is anything but, because both the piety and the good sense of the true man of God will draw others to him.
@HarrisonGarlic1 Even those who had been without faith before. But all an agent of the State needs, should he be inclined to dish out his own brand of salvation, is brute force and the fear it inspires.
