The European Parliament's refusal to recognize Putin's presidency is a turning point.

Here’s why it matters 🧵👇 Image
MEPs today voted overwhelmingly to pass a resolution denouncing last month’s sham election and rejecting its falsified results. Of the 522 members, 493 voted in favor of the motion
The resolution points to the lack of competition and the atmosphere of fear and repression created by the regime before the election, as well as the fact polling stations were open in occupied Ukrainian lands
It also explicitly refers to Alexey Navalny’s death as a murder, holds the regime – and Putin personally – criminally and politically responsible, and demands the immediate release of all political prisoners held in Russia
Most importantly, the resolution urges EU states to support Russian civil society organizations, and issue humanitarian visas to Russians who face persecution for their opposition to Putin
This is a first public result of the campaign to delegitimize Putin, launched by the Russian Anti-War Committee in October of last year.

This step serves as a signal to Putin that the days when he could unilaterally declare himself the legitimate president and receive universal recognition are over
While he may hate to admit it, Putin needs foreign approval, particularly from the West, because despite all of his best efforts, Russians still place a lot of stock in Western recognition
I want to extend thanks to the MEPs who supported this resolution, as well as my friends and colleagues in the Free Russia Foundation and the Russian Anti-War Committee, whose collective efforts made this possible

President Biden has finally signed the next tranche of aid to Ukraine.

Too little, too late for victory.

🧵What does this $60 billion decision mean for Ukraine, for the world, and for the United States? Image
In reality, it's not $60 billion, but only $40 billion ($20 billion to replenish the already spent stocks of the US army). And of the $40 billion, only $20 billion is for weapons.
Putin is spending $140 billion a year on the war. His weapons are much cheaper, but not radically worse.

An innocent man locked up for speaking the truth.

Today marks the second anniversary of @vkaramurza's unjust imprisonment.

🧵Here's the truth behind the charges of "Discrediting the armed forces": Image
What exactly did he do to deserve imprisonment? He gave a televised interview for CNN, during which he criticized Putin’s illegal war in Ukraine. He called it what it is. And for that, he received a 25-year sentence
Putin treats Kara-Murza as a traitor, but he is one of Russia’s greatest living patriots. He had the opportunity to carry out his political activities overseas, but time and time again he chose to return home, regardless of the risks

This is the picturesque Norwegian village of Moen. Nearby are fjords, waterfalls, a ski resort, and a NATO military base.

So it’s a little concerning that Kremlin officials own much of it, as @dossier_center has revealed 🧵 Image
This is Igor Morar, the mayor of the Russian city of Murmansk, an ally of Putin and vocal supporter of the illegal war in Ukraine. He also owns a beautiful cottage in Moen, a stone’s throw from Bardufoss airbase, where Nato troops train Image
While the lack of flights and ban on Russian-licensed cars crossing into Norway make it difficult for Morar to go to his home away from home, that does not stop him from renting it out for a modest profit of $460 a night Image

Putin's Message: Torture Now 'Acceptable'

The suspects in last month's Moscow terror attack appeared in court beaten and unconscious. This public display marks a shift, where the Kremlin brazenly reveals its brutality.

Here's what it tells us about the regime's state ⬇️

Firstly, let me say this: it seems that these people are indeed the perpetrators of the attack against civilians, and I have no sympathy for them. Here, I am not defending them personally. Rather, I am defending a type of legal system that is capable of carrying out justice.
Of course, torture is not a new phenomenon in Putin's Russia. We've all seen the harrowing images of Ukrainian soldiers returning home emaciated and scarred after being released from Russian captivity.

Belarusian dictator refutes claims that Ukraine was behind the Moscow attack

Lukashenko embarrasses Putin and the heads of Russia's Security Council & FSB by alleging terrorists were headed to Belarus, not Ukraine.

🧵Here's why this matters:thehill.com/policy/interna…
Lukashenko claimed the four terrorists had originally wanted to escape to Belarus, but changed direction to Ukraine because Belarus closed its border and put its forces on high alert
This is quite possible. @dossier_center analyzed the route the gunmen took, and found that it was impossible to tell whether they planned to head for Ukraine or Belarus before police began their pursuit: dossier.center/night-run/

The deadly terrorist attack in Moscow could have been prevented. Facts point to the authorities' utter incompetence—if not deliberate sabotage.

Let's examine how this could happen 🧵

Russia's security services were well aware of the threat posed by the Afghan "Vilayat Khorasan" group, linked to IS. This gang had already attempted massacres in Europe & Central Asia, but were thwarted there.
Putin's Security Council even received a specific warning that militants of Tajik origin could be used for attacks in Russia, according to a security service source who spoke to @dossier_center dossier-center.appspot.com/teract/
