This week I presented the 2024 Product Strategy for two of our products to the engineering teams.

For the meeting I had three goals.

Get a same understanding and alignment on:

Since we had some new people I started broad with the vision and mission of the company.

Additionally, I showed how the things come together, e.g., how we derive business goals, how we derive product goals.

For Product Manager working on one product is quite a task, but overseeing multiple products is next level.

It can be quite a challenge to get all of this together.

A very helpful method for this is the Growth-Share-Matrix.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗮 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘄𝘁𝗵-𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗲-𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗿𝗶𝘅? It is a strategic tool that categorises products or business units based on market growth and share.

PMs can use this when they oversee multiple products (for example I'm currently responsible for three different products).
𝗪𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗵 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗹𝗲𝗺 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝘁 𝘀𝗼𝗹𝘃𝗲? It supports the strategic portfolio analysis and supports decision processes.
