so looking at ETH/USD data, we have some interesting observations
Chainlink is lagging most CEX data sources by 300-800ms, which seems kinda bad at first glance... chaoslabs.xyz/posts/oracle-r…
but compared with other oracles, Chainlink is actually really fast!
even Binance's own oracle moves slower than Chainlink
the real kicker is in this Granger analysis though, which is trying to measure how much a given oracle's output could be predicted by the benchmark oracle
and it's showing that Chainlink is highly predictive of Pyth (if you speak p-values, it's v v v statistically significant)
now, if Pyth data publishers were fetching 1st party data, i don't think they would be lagging so much behind CEXes and other oracles
however, (hypothetically), if Pyth data providers just reported whatever chainlink reported, it would fit the observations here
I'm still digging through the methodology section to make sure my interpretations are correct, but kudos to Chaoslabs for releasing this tool!
