The world should also see, the photos of Mariana lead by representatives of @UN & @ICRC to what they promised would be her safety. Instead she was given to those who illegally held her, starved & tortured her for 2 years!
How!?
2/9 Mariana Chechelyuk & her sister was sheltering in Azovstal during the battle of Mariupol, when on May 1st 2022 they were finally told a safe corridor had been set in motion to evacuate civilians taken to Zaporizhzhia. Instead they were taken to Bezymenny for "filtration".
3/9 A year later Marianas parents made a public plea: “our daughters were moved to Bezimenne, under the DPR control. The UN & Red Cross broke their promises and left them behind in that place. In the hands of russians filtration, Mariana was unlawfully detained”
4/9“Mariana was moved to a pre-trial detention facility in Donetsk, where she then was held in a SHU for 2 months in inhumane conditions. 2 months without sunlight or fresh air
- for what crime??”Her parents said praying for her release & answers to the wrongdoing of their child!
5/9 She was moved to the notorious detention center in Olenivka, where the horrific massacre of russian executed Ukrainian POW’s by locking them in the prison & burned them alive. In the first 10 months of captivity Mariana was moved & held in at least 5 Detention center.
6/9 When Mariana was returned home to Ukraine yesterday, she had been illegally imprisoned for more than 2 years, and the world saw the heartbreaking toll the russian captivity and the inhumane treatments had taken on the now 24-year old girl.
7/9 With the systematic abuse & torture she endured during the two years in detention, Mariana's health has deteriorated. Her mother said among many things Mariana now suffer respiratory diseases and untreated sickness that developed a chronic form of bronchitis.
8/9 For 2 years she suffered in the most horrific ways
For 2 years her parents tirelessly fought for answers, release & survival
Marianas life should NEVER have been left in the hands of russians yet she was handed to them by those swearing to be protecting civilians during war!
9/9 The @UN who documents russias grotesque war crimes, and stand for accountability: where is yours?
How many civilians have been promised safety, only to be left tortured, abused and murdered by the aggressors of this war because you walked away?
@UN when there’s a clear aggressor vs victim. Right vs wrong. Being “neutral” only benefits the ones doing the crimes.
You can’t claim you do it for safety & peace, when the most vulnerable is neglected & becomes the bargaining piece.
BL: support Ukraine, by support TO Ukraine.

1/20 Amongst the many types of russian terror in Ukraine, there is one in particular that’s both extremely dangerous & that will be a threat for many years to come.
russia has made Ukraine the most heavily mined country in the world.
Let’s deep dive into these grim details 🧵
2/20: Approximately 23% of Ukrainian land, meaning 174000 square kilometers, has now been contaminated by landmines and unexploded ordnance, something russia has been known to spread across many countries they trample on, including Syria and Libya.
3/20: russia is placing a huge variety of these mines in Ukraine. And have spread antipersonnel mines in multiple areas across Ukraine, including victim-activated booby traps. The use of antipersonnel mines violates international humanitarian law.
💙💛David Lynch has for years demonstrated consistent support for Ukraine through various initiatives, mostly with his foundation that works for mental rehabilitation of both soldiers & civilians.
In 2009 Lynch visited Ukraine to promote Transcendental Meditation (TM). During this visit, he planted trees as a symbol of growth and peace.

Mr Lynch returned to Kyiv in 2017 to assist Ukrainian war veterans, and focused on highlighting and bringing awareness to the importance of addressing and understanding post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
1: Today 25 Ukrainian prisoners of war returned home. All 25 with critical health conditions, serious ill and/or wounded.
Per the Geneva Convention these are soldiers who should be returned at the highest priority. Yet russia have held some of them for almost three years.
2: russia continues to commit war crimes by holding seriously ill & wounded Ukrainian POWs in inhumane conditions. Again & again we hear of how russia torture, starve, deny medical care, abuse & murder Ukrainian prisoners, and yet nothing is done to address & stop it!
3: Conditions and injuries of the released prisoners today include:
• Amputations
• Loss of vision
• Complex bullet and mine wounds
• Diseases like tuberculosis, cancer, and gangrene
These injuries are worsened by months of neglect, abuse, and starvation in captivity.
1/17 During the meeting of «The Ukraine Defense Contact Group» held at the Ramstein Air Base in Germany, a lot of statements and new announcements regarding support for Ukraine was made.
Here’s a short thread 🧵 of the highlights:
2/17 🇪🇺Kaja Kallas stated The EU would be ready to take lead in support for 🇺🇦 if US starts slacking; «EU is ready to take over this leadership if the US is not willing to.» Also adding: «It’s not in the interest of America that russia will be the strongest force in the world.»
3/17 To me, this statement feels bitter sweet. If the EU is willing & able to take the lead on support for Ukraine it should be done. Period. Don’t wait for one of the allies to jump off before you step up.
1/ Holodomor Remembrance Day, the man-made famine orchestrated by Stalin’s regime to destroy Ukraine’s people & independence through starvation.
1932-1933
25,000 Ukrainians died every day.
1000pr hour 17pr min.
10 million starved to death.
🧵Here’s what everyone should know
2/ Ukraine is not labeled the world’s bread basket for nothing. It has in fact an incredibly diverse and fertile variability of land making it ideal for farming. And it was exactly that Stalin used as a weapon to murder and force out the Ukrainian people.
3/ Stalin’s collectivization policy forced Ukrainian farmers to give up their land, livestock, and harvests. When they resisted, Stalin vowed to crush their defiance by starving them into submission. Over a million were evicted, exiled to labor camps, or executed.
1/ How can the world sit by and watch russia, a war criminal state, veto its own consequences at the UN?
This isn’t the first time, or the second, it’s a pattern! History has shown us what happens when we ignore evil.
Let’s talk about why the UN must be reformed 🧵
2/ Russia’s aggression isn’t new, it’s centuries old. From Stalin’s genocide-by-famine in Ukraine (Holodomor) to today’s full-scale war, the Kremlin has shown the world exactly what it is: an imperialist regime that thrives on terror. Why hasn’t this been stopped?
3/ After the USSR collapsed, the West called russia’s survival a “success.” But who paid for this “success”? Millions of lives lost, oppression, and land grabs. Instead of punishment, russias was given the Soviet Union’s power without being held accountable for its crimes.
