💙💛David Lynch has for years demonstrated consistent support for Ukraine through various initiatives, mostly with his foundation that works for mental rehabilitation of both soldiers & civilians.

Let’s do a quick summary 🧵 Image In 2009 Lynch visited Ukraine to promote Transcendental Meditation (TM). During this visit, he planted trees as a symbol of growth and peace.

1: Today 25 Ukrainian prisoners of war returned home. All 25 with critical health conditions, serious ill and/or wounded.

Per the Geneva Convention these are soldiers who should be returned at the highest priority. Yet russia have held some of them for almost three years.
Image
2: russia continues to commit war crimes by holding seriously ill & wounded Ukrainian POWs in inhumane conditions. Again & again we hear of how russia torture, starve, deny medical care, abuse & murder Ukrainian prisoners, and yet nothing is done to address & stop it! Image

1/17 During the meeting of «The Ukraine Defense Contact Group» held at the Ramstein Air Base in Germany, a lot of statements and new announcements regarding support for Ukraine was made.

Here’s a short thread 🧵 of the highlights: Image

2/17 🇪🇺Kaja Kallas stated The EU would be ready to take lead in support for 🇺🇦 if US starts slacking; «EU is ready to take over this leadership if the US is not willing to.» Also adding: «It’s not in the interest of America that russia will be the strongest force in the world.» Image

1/ Holodomor Remembrance Day, the man-made famine orchestrated by Stalin’s regime to destroy Ukraine’s people & independence through starvation.

1932-1933
25,000 Ukrainians died every day.
1000pr hour 17pr min.

10 million starved to death.

🧵Here’s what everyone should know Image
Image
2/ Ukraine is not labeled the world’s bread basket for nothing. It has in fact an incredibly diverse and fertile variability of land making it ideal for farming. And it was exactly that Stalin used as a weapon to murder and force out the Ukrainian people. Image

1/ How can the world sit by and watch russia, a war criminal state, veto its own consequences at the UN?

This isn’t the first time, or the second, it’s a pattern! History has shown us what happens when we ignore evil.

Let’s talk about why the UN must be reformed 🧵 Image

2/ Russia’s aggression isn’t new, it’s centuries old. From Stalin’s genocide-by-famine in Ukraine (Holodomor) to today’s full-scale war, the Kremlin has shown the world exactly what it is: an imperialist regime that thrives on terror. Why hasn’t this been stopped? Image

🧵 15 Ukrainian children were returned from the temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions.

I want all to read the stories of these children, how the russian occupier strive to erase Ukrainian identity & even force them into the russian army. Image

2/ it’s absolutely no secret how Ukrainians living under russian occupying forces are subjected to horrific torture, violence & oppression. We’ve seen it in every liberated area, and the stories of Ukrainian survivors are absolutely horrific. ineukraine.com/2024/06/06/ukr…

‼️Since 4am local time, Kyiv has been under attack of drones. For 9hours alarms have been going on and off, explosions & falling debris in several districts. 8 private houses, an apartment in a high-rise building, cars & power lines have been damaged. Image

This of course is nothing compared to what cities like Kharkiv, Sumy, Kherson & Zaporizhzhia goes through on a daily basis, not just under threat of drones but constant russian missile attacks. And non of this should still be happening. #RussiaisATerroistState

🧵1) My heart is numb learning about the death of Victoriia Roshchyna.

Let’s be clear, she didn’t just die in russian captivity. She was murdered by russia in captivity. We know russias horrific treatments of POWs

The lack of international outrage on this matter is terrifying. Image 2) Victoriia, as a Ukrainian journalist, should never have been in russian captivity in the first place. The last information russia has given about her is that she died during the transfer from Taganrog to Moscow, where she was set to be prepared for exchange. Image

Hello.
Whoever you are.
Reading this.

I didn’t really know how to begin this thread, I’m unsure how to even grab your attention anymore. Maybe we can make it personal?

If I asked you 3 years ago, what you fear the most, what would you answer?
Would it be the same today?

2) Were you afraid of a lost opportunity or losing a job? Not having enough time?

Did you fear your country would be invaded? Of missiles hitting your home?

Fear of losing a loved one? Maybe a parent or a child? Fear they’d be tortured & executed?

Do you fear it now?

🧵1/17 As autumn arrived, school started & cold weather approaches, russia continues their pattern of crimes, increasing targeted attacks on Ukrainian;
• Energy infrastructure
• Educational facilities
• Civilians

Let’s talk numbers of these russian war crimes & what’s next.

2/17 August 2024, russia again escalated its vicious mass attacks, killing 184 civilians & injuring 856.

*These numbers are never accurate btw, since russia deny international oversight in the areas they temporarily occupy, where we know russia both torture & murder civilians.

This year, Ukraine is represented by 140 athletes, a great testament to their resilience.

🧵1/ Dear anyone. I try to keep it informative here, but today I have to rant. I hope you see it but fear you won’t, Several Ukrainian accounts are shadowed & banned. And that’s the topic this platform, the claims of “free speech” is it Neutral? Biased? Controlled?
Let’s talk. Image 2/ It's honestly disturbing seeing what X-Twitter has become. Yesterday the news about the hiding of likes dropped, before that the green light for p0яn and bots was given. I don’t think I have to rant for long about how all that affects the platform.

1/9 The world saw Mariana return home yesterday.

The world should also see, the photos of Mariana lead by representatives of @UN & @ICRC to what they promised would be her safety. Instead she was given to those who illegally held her, starved & tortured her for 2 years!

How!?
