The vital thing in this picture isn't the Russian. It's the truck trailer.

This is the...7th?...time we have seen one of these bad boys from RuAF social media on X.

They 2x the payload of trucks for a slightly higher fuel cost & slightly lower convoy speed

RuAF Trailer🧵
1/
The US Army swears by trailers for tactical trucks because of their logistical efficiency.

As this light armored combat team infographic makes clear.

H/T @battle_order

2/ Image
The Family of Medium Tactical Vehicle family I worked with 13 years of my career were absolutely all in on tactical trailers.

It taught me why they were so logistically important for military truck fleets.

3/
But Russian Army tactical truck trailers are rarer than gold hen's teeth

4/
I've been posting "be on the lookout" (BOLO) for
Kamaz & Ural tactical truck trailers since at least August 2022.

5/

Around that time, back in the summer of 2022, I went so far as to look up the 1984 CIA report titled "Soviet Military Rear Services in East Germany" trying to figure out what the heck happened to the Soviet Army tactical trailer park.

6/ Image
Anyone can look up that report, by the way.

See here:

I was tracking Wagner PMC in social media by their tactical truck trailers because the Russian Army never used them.

Trailers were a large reason why the Wagner "Truck stop thunder run" to Moscow from Rostov-on-the-Don went so far, so fast.

Note Wagner also used Loaf vans.
8/ Image
Nor was that trailer the only non-Russian Army logistical tool that Wagner used.

See the Wagner "Truck Stop Thunder Run" tank transports with a palletized fuel box that had to be placed there by a crane, forklift or telehandler.

9/

Image
Image
Logistically, Wagner simply was not the Russian Army due to years of fighting in Africa.

It's trailer park and mechanized logistics made Wagner long ranged and more operationally agile than any equivalent RuAF military unit.

10/
And that may well be the answer for the lack of RuAF tactical truck trailers.

The removal of Soviet trailers from the Russian Army looks to have been an "Anti-Bonapartism" measure by Putin.

RuAF was stripped of its trailer park logistics for "Coup Protection" reasons.

11/
In other words, Soviet tactical truck trailers were removed so Russian Army units couldn't do to Putin what Wagner PMC successfully accomplished...

...a long and very fast road march to Moscow.

And it also means no trailers will appear with Russian trucks in the future.

One of the things about flashes of insight, like the Truck Trailer - Coup one below, is you have to go back later and explain the logic chain behind them.

This chain requires explaining the Soviet state, when the RuAF lost its trailers & why Putin was blind to Wagner's coup.
1/
The Soviet Union's state was built on three legs.

1. The Communist party (CCCP)
2. The NKVD/KGB Secret Police
3. The Red Army

The CCCP played the Army against the secret police to keep power.

2/ Image
Part of that structure was to remove non-commissioned officers from the Red Army as a "anti-Bonapartism" measure and fill the Red Army with CCCP political officers and secret police informants.

Macron strikes back!

1. At Russia for it's GRU operative from Donbas bombing Charles De Gaulle airport and

2. At the USA for slow rolling F-16 pilot training.

1/
For the airport bombing see this link:

I guarantee you that Ukrainian Mirage 2000-5 will have all the necessary pilots for peak sortie generation before NATO F-16's.

If only because France will allow non-Ukrainians to fly and fight for Ukraine.

Which the Biden Administration has forbidden for NATO F-16's.

Ukrainian media is reporting on the withdrawal/movement of Black Sea Fleet ships from Novorossiysk.

The following units are on the move:

Two Project 22160 patrol ships;
Two Buyan-class corvettes;
Two Ropucha-class landing ships;

1/

One Ivan Gren-class landing ship;
One Tapir-class landing ship;
Two Kilo-class submarines;
Two Project 266M “Aquamarine-M” minesweepers;
One Project 12700 “Alexandrite” minesweeper.

The composition of the units involved reminds me of the UK Royal Navy's "Operation Pedestal" resupply convoy to Malta in August 1942.

The costly battle that resupplied Malta and saved the British position in North Africa.

The collapse of VKS missileer competence compared to Soviet training and doctrine is so stark I don't know what to say.

The post-strike videos in Russia & Ukraine show no attempts to conceal or disperse SAM batteries or TELARs.

1/
This lack of tactical dispersal was the very thing that Soviet trainers of Arab regimes screamed their heads off about.

Yet VKS missileer's are repeating all the mistakes we have seen with Syrian SAM batteries fighting the Israelis.

2/
There are cultural/Regime security reasons for Arab regime SAM forces to be bad.

Air Forces are the seat of coups in Arab nations because you have to use the educated middle class to operate and maintain aircraft.

This @DanielR33187703 thread on the Loaf/UAV/Scooby Van reminded me it is now time for another visit to the Russian logistical vehicle fleet.

RuAF Truck logistics when Lanchester comes calling🧵

1/
Back in October 2023 did a thread where I laid out the operational patterns of Russian truck logistics and how attritional losses were changing the composition of the Russian logistical vehicle fleet.

2/

The 1st RuAF Army with 4,000 tactical trucks and contract soldiers lasted 6-to-9 months.

The 2nd Russian logistical vehicle army, from Sept 2022 onward, was made up of a trickle of new Kamaz trucks, reactivated Ural trucks...

The US Army supposedly converted all its M30 cluster munition GMLRS to unitary warheads pursuant to an executive order by Pres. George W. Bush..

The only remaining holder of cluster munition armed M30 GMLRS stocks (780) was the United Arab Emirates.

US munitions policy🧵
1/
The UAE bought the M30's in 2007 before the US cluster munitions sales ban.

This link has a tolerable story of US cluster munitions policy at the date of this publication.

2/
justsecurity.org/81363/u-s-poli…
This is former President Trump's FY2017 policy decision on cluster munitions revising Pres George W Bush's policy of uniform disposal.

Possibly some of the M30 GMLRS in US service hadn't been converted in 2017...

...but it's unlikely.
