In my address to the Global Peace Summit I emphasised that this gathering marks a significant step towards a just peace. I thank all leaders, teams, and states for making this possible.
One hundred and one states and international organizations have registered for the Summit. This is our common success, of all those who believe that a united world, united nations, are stronger than any aggressor.
The first Peace Summit is a step toward a just end to Russia's war against Ukraine. When we end it justly and fairly for Ukraine based on international law, every nation will be able to count on the same justice and fairness, reinforcing the effectiveness of the UN Charter.
The UN Charter's words will regain their full power: “We, the peoples of the United Nations, determined to save succeeding generations from the scourge of war...”
The first words of the UN Charter are also the words that describe the essence of the Peace Formula, which became the basis for the Peace Summit and encouraged different nations—with equal respect—to participate in our joint work, the Peace Summit.
Our unity here proves that the very idea of international law remains alive and effective. The presence of different nations today proves that the UN Charter and the basic conventions are the real foundation of coexistence among peoples.
Our principles are clear. No one has the right to wage an aggressive war against a neighbor and undermine one of the UN Charter’s basic principles: territorial integrity. No one can threaten with nuclear weapons, undermine food, energy, or other security of the world and regions.
No one has the right to kidnap the children of another nation. No one has the right to undermine peace. We are able to ensure the effectiveness of such principles. They are globally important.
I am grateful to you, distinguished leaders and representatives of states and international organizations, for proving that the world may not fall into total war anymore.
Such as the war that Russia, unfortunately, brought to us—to Ukraine, to our homes, to Ukrainian cities and villages—and hundreds of them were unfortunately completely burned by Russian bombs, artillery, and missiles.
Putin has taken the lives of thousands of our people to take over a neighboring country. I wish this to no one. I wish all the peoples of the world, every child, and family to live without war. I want this for all Ukrainians. Ukraine has the right to peace. Just like all of you.
We must stop this war based on the UN Charter, respect for international law, the just interests of the Ukrainian people, and the idea of the undeniable value of human life. Life, not war.
We will focus on three points, on what is useful to everyone in the world without exception: radiation and nuclear safety, food security, and the release of prisoners and deportees, adults and children, military and civilians, whose lives have been broken by war.
And in the process of working on these initial points of the Peace Formula, we can reach an agreement and create an action plan for each point of the Peace Formula.
This inaugural Peace Summit includes three panels where each country can demonstrate leadership. The Peace Formula is inclusive, and we welcome all proposals and ideas on what is really needed for peace and what is important to everyone.
All continents are represented at the Peace Summit. We have avoided dividing the world into opposing blocs. Here, there are representatives from Latin America, Africa, Europe, the Middle East and Asia, the Pacific, North America, and religious leaders. One hundred participants!
And no one has the privilege of deciding for another. This is true multipolarity. Every political pole on Earth is represented and influences solving global issues. The global majority supports the principles of territorial integrity, sovereignty, and equality between peoples.
The world majority definitely wants to live without bloody crises, deportations, and ecocides. And so every nation that is not represented now and that shares the same values of the UN Charter in deed and word, will be able to join our work at the next stages.
The Peace Formula encourages all powers to think about ending the war and to propose how to end it, and therefore the very idea of war has already lost. Putin should switch from the language of ultimatums to the language of the world majority, which wants a just peace.
What can this Summit deliver? First, it can prove that the return of security is indeed possible. We will work out the steps together.
Second, it can provide a real plan to make every step for peace work—from nuclear and food security to the release of prisoners and deportees, and to the complete end of the war without the threat of its new outbreak. I believe it is possible.
Third, there’s no need to reinvent the wheel when the UN Charter already defines the foundations of peace and co-existence of people. We need to decide how countries will cooperate, who will be co-leaders to fix and implement an action plan. These are clear and achievable goals.
Now there is no Russia here. Why? Because if Russia was interested in peace, there would be no war. We must decide together what a just peace means for the world and how it can be achieved in a truly lasting way. The UN Charter is the basis for us.
And then, when the action plan is on the table, agreed by all, and transparent for the peoples, – then it will be communicated to the representatives of Russia. And so that at the Second Peace Summit we can fix the real end of the war. Now we are starting this path.
Together, we must prove that the united world is a world of peace, a world that knows how to act correctly. Thank you for your attention! Thank you for participating in the Summit! And I hope for fruitful work together. We all need peace.

I thank all participants of the first Peace Summit for taking the first steps towards peace together.
We are responding to Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine not only with a full-scale defense of human life but also with full-scale diplomacy. These days united 101 countries and international organizations. Our fair objective is to get all countries to join this noble cause.
Previous generations left us the UN Charter as a basis for cooperation of peoples. We will pass to the next generations an effective mechanism to implement it. The communiqué adopted at the Summit fully reflects our intention, and remains open for all who respect the UN Charter.
🇺🇦🇺🇸 Today is a truly historic day. We signed the strongest agreement between Ukraine and the United States since our independence.
This agreement is about security, protecting human life, fostering cooperation, and strengthening our nations. It includes steps to guarantee sustainable peace and benefits everyone globally, because Russia’s war against Ukraine is a real global threat.
I thank President Biden for his leadership reflected in this agreement and for his support for Ukraine throughout the years. I also thank our teams for making sure that the details of the agreement are really good.
Today, I addressed the Bundestag and emphasized that the German people's humanity has shone through in their unwavering support for Ukraine. We are deeply grateful for your compassion and assistance.
Germany did not stand aside from the pain and suffering of Ukrainians. Ordinary people, different German cities, states, and communities – all have helped and are helping.
We remain faithful to the dream of a peaceful Europe – a continent of culture, people, and without war. A Europe that will be a happy home for our children and their children. A Europe that won’t allow hatred to take root and will do everything to correct the mistake of this war.
I addressed Ukraine Recovery Conference #URC2024 and emphasized the importance of comprehensive efforts to defend Ukraine, ensure societal resilience, and preserve our common European way of life against Russian aggression.
This war has various levels of confrontation: the frontline where our people defend against military strikes, our economic defense to maintain normal social life, and political resistance against attempts to divide and weaken the democratic world.
Withstanding and winning this confrontation requires comprehensive efforts. It involves defending Ukraine from Russian aggression, ensuring the resilience of our society, and preserving our shared European way of life, which Putin's Russia seeks to destroy.
I addressed the National Assembly to thank France for its support.
Yesterday, we honored WWII victors who defended Europe. Today, we must defend it against the Russian regime, which does not recognize borders.
We must prove the power of our unity, alliances, and shared ideals.
These days, we honor the bravery of the people and the mutual support of the nations that won the Battle of Normandy. The ones who won. And it is the victory that is still being felt on Omaha Beach, where we were yesterday with the President, with Emmanuel, and other leaders.
It was precisely such victorious battles—in Normandy and Eastern Europe, in the northern seas of our continent, and in the skies of Britain, in Southern Europe, and in the underground resistance movements in the countries occupied by the Nazis—that returned Europe to humanity.
I addressed the Shangri-La Dialogue #SLD24 and stressed that the last few decades have seen diplomacy fail to achieve its tasks.
Ukraine has found a way to restore the force of diplomacy.
We propose peace through diplomacy: an inclusive and fair format, the Global Peace Summit.
It’s often said that brutal force should not dominate the world. Similarly, attempts by various power centers to impose something on other nations against their will in politics, economy, or security should not dominate either.
Diplomacy should be those caring and strong hands that prevent international disputes from turning into fights, restraining the most aggressive parties. This is how diplomacy often worked in the past.
