ESTROGEN isn't the happy female hormone like they made you believe.

It is a SHOCK and TRAUMA hormone that screws up your life.

ESTROGEN DOMINANCE made my existence miserable.

As it does to MANY.

THREAD🧵on what I’ve learned & how I fixed it.

(A guide for women AND men). Image
Estrogen dominance is a state where there is an excessive amount of estrogen in the body relative to other sex hormones, particularly progesterone.

This imbalance can occur due to various factors, including but not limited to, increased production of estrogen, decreased production of progesterone, or difficulties in metabolising and detoxifying estrogen in the liver.Image
Even if your estrogen levels come back as ‘normal' in lab tests, you are estrogen-dominant if those levels aren't balanced by 5-10 times the amount of progesterone, and that 'normal' estrogen will still cause serious issues. Hence, it is important to measure both at the same time.Image
If your body temperature / thyroid function are low, you'll most likely have high estrogen and low progesterone levels.

If you have excess body fat, ditto.
If not balanced by an abundance of thyroid, progesterone and DHEA, estrogen is TOXIC. Image
The physical signs of estrogen dominance include:

1. Water Retention + bloating + heaviness + swelling in various parts of the body. This can manifest as puffy skin and swelling of the feet while standing + shifts to the face during the night.

Left: estrogen dominant
Right: fixed

I'm 15lbs lighter in the left pic (I ate low sugar, low kcal, and literally starved myself, 3 week long fasts back to back, but the face was still puffy).Image
Image
Hair Changes: Estrogen dominance can affect hair growth in several ways:

• Thinning of the hair on the head = a consequence of hypothyroidism induced by estrogen's suppression of thyroid function

• Hair follicle inactivity + male pattern baldness (estrogen can convert male hormones into estrogen in the skin)

• In females: growth of whiskers and chest hair, by stimulating the adrenal glands, estrogen can increase the production of "male" hormones, especially when combined with progesterone deficiency (like in PCOS)Image
Inability to lose weight / increased fat storage:

• Estrogen interferes with thyroid function slowing down metabolism

• Impairs insulin sensitivity and glucose metabolism, leading to INSULIN RESISTANCE (this was me)

• Low thyroid + excess estrogen + low progesterone lead to polycystic ovary syndrome (also me)

• Stimulates the adrenal cortex, increasing the production of cortisol = increased appetite

• Cravings for unhealthy foods, accumulation of abdominal fat

• Increases the number of fat cells which then produce more estrogen estrogen = vicious circle of hellImage
Estrogen's effects on the female body, from scientific and medical publications, via Ray Peat: Image
Polycystic ovary syndrome: it is caused by progesterone and thyroid hormone deficiency, along with excess estrogen. It affects around 10% of women in reproductive age worldwide. Image
Other effects of estrogen:

• inflammation
• aging
• reproductive issues
• cardiovascular issues
• osteoporosis
• metabolic disturbances
• fatigue, low energy levels
• hormonal imbalances
• memory impairment
• water retention
• high adrenaline
• loss of muscle mass
• suicidal depression
• regular depression
• lethargy
• irritability
• aggressiveness
• anxiety
• confusion
• verbosity
• tendency to cry easily
• postpartum depression
• insomnia
• nighttime worrying
• blue veins
• migraines
• excessive or low sex drive
• excitotoxicityImage
Estrogen's anti-thyroid and anti-metabolic effects:

• inhibits thyroid function
• inhibits the thymus gland (immunity)
• redox catalyst / generation of toxic free radicals / drain on the NADH system / impairment of cellular respiration / cellular processes
• impairs the way cells handle oxidative stress

= where you find all of the problems of life.Image
Signs of estrogen dominance in men:

• Chronic fatigue
• Mood swings
• Thinning hair: estrogen dominance can contribute to hair loss or thinning hair on the scalp or male pattern baldness
• Anxiety
• Low muscle mass or difficulty in maintaining muscle tone
• Lack of success in business ventures
• High fat mass, especially in the areas of the chest, leading to the development of gynecomastia (enlarged breasts), as well as increased fat deposition around the abdomen and hips
• Erectile dysfunction
• Passive aggressiveness
• Puffy skin: estrogen can cause fluid retention, leading to a puffy appearance, particularly noticeable in the face and extremities
• Lack of a sex life
• Prostate enlargement: symptoms of an enlarged prostate, such as urinary issues, can be a sign of estrogen dominance
• Low sperm count
• Fear of androgen-dominant men
• Dysfunctional relationships
• Lack of respect from their children or colleagues/friends
• Skin changes: estrogen can affect skin health, potentially leading to a softer, less firm skin textureImage
Image
How to address estrogen dominance:

No, don't cut out / down milk, lol.

Milk has the "optimal content of calcium, protein, progesterone, thyroid and vitamins."

Thus has the ability to prevent or CURE osteoporosis (caused by estrogen.)

Milk contains only small amounts of estrogen and it is balanced by progesterone.

Moreover, most of that estrogen is attached to either sulfate or glucuronic acid, which prepares
it for excretion in the kidneys = the body can detoxify and eliminate the majority of the estrogen found in milk.

There is also a HUGE difference between the estrogens in milk and those found in other products like soya milk substitutes.

Estrogens in milk are in a detoxified form. The soya ones are concerning.
Adequate milk consumption reduces stress and supports thyroid function = great for addressing estrogen dominance.Image
Most important: support thyroid function (thyroid issues often lead to estrogen dominance) and liver function (liver plays a key role in detoxifying estrogen):

• Remove all unsaturated fats, switch to saturated fats

• Eat tasty, easily digestible foods

• Eat small, sugar and mineral rich foods (example: sip sweet delicious orange juice every hour or so)

• Consume enough sugars: a litre of OJ + 2 litres of milk a day will keep stress at bay and thyroid happy

• Good quality (gelatinous) proteins and adequate B vitamins (supplementing B vitamins and grass-fed gelatine powder can be crucial)

• CALCIUM: milk, egg shells, calcium carbonate

• Vitamins ADEK

• Include shellfish (oysters, shrimp, squid, etc.) or low-fat fish for trace minerals, or supplement zinc and selenium (and molybdenum) if good quality seafood isn’t available

• Several pasture-raised eggs per week, especially for choline that supports the liver function

• Add well-cooked potatoes with butter or cream, fruit, and well-cooked greens (like kale broth induction) for vitamins and minerals

• Coffee with sugar and cream (or on a full stomach)

• Poop, keep the flow: cascara sagrada, well cooked mushrooms, carrot salad, bamboo shoots can help

• Carrot salad (daily) will help sweep out excess estrogen

• Avoiding certain foods like soya products: soya milk, tofu and tempeh, which contain phytoestrogens that can contribute to estrogen dominance

• Optimal light environment: ~ 2 hours of daily sun; grounding

• Stress management: have silly goose time, hugs, stimulating experiences, novelty, purpose

• Avoid ALCOHOL, environmental toxins like hormone disruptors / xenoestrogens in your skincare, personal care, household products, and other chemicals, pesticides, herbicides, heavy metals, plastics, etcImage
Image
• Milk thistle, NAC, taurine / TUDCA, zinc, selenium, phosphatidycholine, vitamin C will also help the liver

• Aspirin reduces the formation of estrogen and breaks the cycle of inflammation and estrogen production

• Bio-identical progesterone and pregnenolone

• A small supplement of Armour thyroid or its equivalent, or synthetic bio-identical thyroid medication like Cynomel/Cynoplus, will help

• Regular, pro-metabolic exercise: concentric exercises helps build muscle, while exercises that involve the muscle in a downward lengthening stroke can produce cortisol and damage mitochondriaImage
Bio-identical progesterone supplementation can be used to balance the effects of estrogen.

Before considering higher doses of progesterone to combat high estrogen, one should look into thyroid and liver health first. Image
Things that lower estrogen:

• Aspirin
• Thyroid
• Vitamins ADEK
• Carrot salad
• Progesterone
• Coffee (caffeine)
• High protein intake
• Orange juice, marmalade, grapefruit (naringenin)
• Well-cooked white button mushrooms
• Parsley (apigenin)
• Methylene Blue
• Cyproheptadine
• Vitamins B1, B2, B3, B6
• Coconut oil
• Selenium
• Zinc
• Calcium
• Gelatine
• Salt

Avoid environmental estrogens, also known as endocrine-disrupting chemicals:

• Oral contraceptive
• Pesticides and herbicides
• Plastic products (like bisphenol A or BPA)
• Personal care products (like phthalates in cosmetics)
• Industrial chemicals (like polychlorinated biphenyls or PCBs)
• Food additives and preservatives
• Some medications
• Household cleaning products

These substances mimic or interfere with the natural hormones in the body, including estrogen, and have been linked to various serious health issues.Image
The above helped me correct my estrogen dominance.

I got my period back after 7+ years, completely reversed my insulin resistance, depuffed my face, got rid of (clinically diagnosed) depression and anxiety, brain fog, fatigue, corrected impaired thyroid / metabolic function, insomnia, amongst a plethora of other issues.

Life became beautiful and enjoyable for the first time since I was a child.

Anything is possible when you focus on metabolism :).Image

Listen to me diva and listen carefully:

What you’re experiencing isn’t JUST terrible skin! This one is a systemic INFLAMMATORY RESPONSE showing up on the face.

Let me help you.

Those deep painful bumps and clusters come from internal stress signals, especially:

• Gut irritation / endotoxin overload
• Hormonal imbalance, especially high estrogen, serotonin, cortisol and histamine
• A liver that’s overwhelmed and can’t fully clear those hormones
• Low metabolic / thyroid function which slows healing and increases inflammation

When the gut leaks endotoxin into the bloodstream, the immune system responds aggressively and the skin (one of the first places inflammation shows up) reacts with swelling, redness, clogged pores and cyst-like breakouts.

This is why topical treatments alone rarely solve severe acne: the skin is a mirror of inner stress, not the source of it.

What actually helps

A. Calm the gut: this is the biggest lever for clearing skin

The fastest-acting gut tools for acne:

• Daily raw carrot salad (grated carrot + coconut oil + vinegar and salt)
—> binds endotoxin and estrogen, lowers inflammation, improves bowel movements
• Avoid foods that bloat you (they feed bacteria behind the breakouts)
—> e.g. beans, oats, raw leafy salads, excess starch, nuts/seeds
• Eat easy to digest carbs: ripe fruit, orange juice, honey, well cooked roots
• Cook your vegetables well or choose low-irritant ones (mushrooms, zucchini)
• 1 bowel movement per day minimum
—> magnesium glycinate/citrate or cascara sagrada can help safely
• Coconut oil (1–2 tsp/day)
—> antimicrobial, pro-thyroid, reduces endotoxin

Lower gut inflammation —> lowers estrogen, serotonin, histamine, cortisol —> skin rapidly calms.

B. Support metabolism and liver function. A strong metabolism = strong skin healing

• Get enough protein (80–100 g/day)
Best sources: dairy, eggs, gelatine, shellfish, white fish, beef/lamb; 150g of liver a week
• Avoid all PUFA oils
—> no seed oils, vegetable oils, nuts, nut butters, margarine, avocado oil, fish oil, fatty fish
They slow metabolism, increase inflammation, worsen acne, just cut off
• Eat saturated fats instead: butter, coconut oil, dairy fat, tallow
• Don’t undereat because calories help the liver detox estrogen
• Sunlight / tanning shop daily to raise vitamin D and lower inflammation
• Sleep 8–9 hours —> cortisol drops, skin heals

C. Balance hormones. Most severe acne involves estrogen dominance + high cortisol.

What lowers estrogen safely:
• Raw carrot salad (again, it’s huge)
• Adequate protein + low-PUFA diet (crucial!!!)
• Good thyroid function (all my tips will help you with this)
• Daily bowel movements
• Avoiding soy and excessive alcohol consumption

What raises protective hormones:
• Orange juice / fruit sugar
• Dairy
• Enough calories
• Saturated fats (esp. coconut oil)

Supplements:

Niacinamide (Vitamin B3): 50–100 mg, 2× per day
• lowers inflammation
• supports metabolism
• decreases cortisol
• helps “oiliness” and skin healing

Magnesium glycinate: 200–400 mg nightly
• helps bowel movement regularity
• lowers stress hormones
• supports sleep

Vitamin E (mixed tocopherols): 100–200 IU/day
• anti-estrogen
• anti-inflammatory
• helps with cystic acne specifically

Use: Tocovit by Idea Labs, Skin.Food, ZENEMENT or LifeBlud

Activated charcoal (occasional use, 1–2×/week)
• binds endotoxin
• great during flare-ups
Take far from food/supplements.

Aspirin (low dose: 81–300 mg/day)
• anti-inflammatory
• mild antibacterial in the gut
• anti-estrogen
Take 1mg of vitamin K with every 300mg of aspirin

Bio-identical Progesterone (like Progest E complex)
• opposes estrogen
• reduces oil production
• fights inflammation
(Use only high-quality bioidentical!)

Helpful topicals

Nizoral (ketoconazole) 1–2×/week
• reduces fungal involvement
• anti-inflammatory

2.5% benzoyl peroxide
• kills acne bacteria
• use sparingly to avoid irritation

tbc👇🏻
Azelaic acid 10–20%
• anti-redness, anti-inflammatory
• excellent for hyperpigmentation afterward

Gentle cleansing only. Use:

• Cetaphil gentle skin cleanser
• CeraVe hydrating cleanser
• The INKEY list salicylic acid cleanser
• Vanicream gentle cleanser
• PanOxyl Acne Foaming Wash (stronger option, for more severe acne)

No scrubs. No harsh acids. No over-washing.

Skin needs its barrier intact to heal.

Squalane and E oil like Skin Food Squalene DHEA E oil (1–2 drops)
• non-comedogenic
• helps skin repair without clogging

Shwally methylene blue + C repair balm
• non-comedogenic
• repairs without clogging, seen great results for acne

Love you, bye xxx
Ps:

Lowering stress is also about protecting your emotional energy. Sometimes that means letting go of relationships that drain you or partners who don’t value you; your skin (and your whole body) relaxes when you feel safe, respected and supported.

Spend more time around people who lift you up: good friends, warm family, the ones who make you laugh and help you feel more like yourself.

Gentle, grounding activities help the nervous system shift out of “fight or flight”: walking in nature, listening to music that soothes you, spending quiet moments in church or prayer, cuddling with pets, doing hobbies with your hands, light stretching, dancing or slow enjoyable movement. Do you like Pilates or dancing? Do that.

These aren’t small things at all and in my experience they quite literally lower cortisol, histamine and adrenaline, giving your body the signal that it’s finally allowed to heal.

Skin health is inseparable from overall physiology. When you restore balance within the whole organism, the skin naturally returns to clarity and resilience.

I wish you all the best xx

Not a *single day* passes without someone asking me for topical cures for ECZEMA, PSORIASIS, ACNE or PERIORAL DERMATITIS

…and I always show them these photos of myself…

So sit down & LISTEN to me.👇🏻

A couple of months ago, I had the worst eczema flare-up of my life. The kind brought on by relentless, soul-crushing stress.

Three (3!) separate doctors told me the same thing: this will not go away without corticosteroids. I was in pain. My whole body was covered in lizard skin scaly tiny blisters. Burning, itching, unable to sleep. And I refused the steroids.

I tried everything. Nothing worked.

Until I remembered the jar I had sitting in my cupboard: a tallow balm infused with methylene blue, CoQ10, calendula, and vitamin C, made by my friend’s brand, the one and only SHWALLY.

I remembered women messaging me about this cream months ago, saying it erased their eczema. Cleared their acne. Healed their skin.

So I used it.

Two days later: no eczema. The MB tallow balm literally DELETED IT.

None. Gone. Cleared. My skin was calm again. I have the photos to prove it. I genuinely couldn’t believe it.

This isn’t a product pitch, it is so much deeper than that. This is a warning: do not sleep on this brand. Do not ignore what this blend can do. If you’re dealing with skin issues of any kind, if you’re one appointment away from steroid creams, please try this first. It saved me.

I’ll never go without it again.

PS: it works best when it’s applied to MOIST skin. Big one I discovered… tallow really wants a wet face / body :)💙

I’d personally say RUN, don’t walk!!! 💙💙💙

Okay, love you, bye xxxImage

I can’t lie to you guys, it was pretty rough. I was in so much pain and distress and look at the swelling. And the METHYLENE BLUE TALLOW BALM healed it in 2 days!!!😭💙 Image

Before and after war: The Ageing Soldier

1 face—4 years apart—aged 30 years.

What changed? Chronic stress collapsing his biology.

Stress isn’t some „woo-woo.”

It is a biological force driving ageing, degeneration, and disease at the cellular level.

A mini guide to stress🧵: Image
What is stress?

Stress = A mismatch between the demands placed on the body by its environment and the energy it can produce to meet them.

When energy fails, function fails.

When function fails, structure collapses — cells, tissues, organs.

(Think: Skin issues, hair loss and thinning, gut inflammation, slowed wound healing, PMS, infertility, cancer metabolism, accelerated ageing, disease, all of the horrors of life.)Image
“Energy and structure are interdependent at every level of biology.” — R. Peat

➔ Without adequate energy, biological structure degrades.

➔ This degradation underpins ageing and disease processes. Image

SKINCARE STARTS WITH BIOLOGY.

Glowing skin, strong nails, and luscious hair don't start with topicals.

(You can't out - moisturise terrible nourishment.)

These nutrients support skin, hair, and nail health from the inside out — by nourishing your cells, lowering stress hormones, and promoting tissue repair.

Let's go. 🧵Image
Image
CHOLESTEROL

Cholesterol is the raw material for your steroid hormones — like progesterone, DHEA, and
pregnenolone — all crucial for beauty and youth.

Low cholesterol = low hormone production = dull skin, brittle nails, shedding hair.

Eat: pasture-raised egg yolks, butter, liver, full-fat dairy, shellfish, ribeye steak.

If you're on a lower-fat, higher-sugar diet, prawns are a cheat code — ultra low in fat, while relatively high in cholesterol!Image
LACTOFERRIN

Found in colostrum and raw milk, lactoferrin is antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and pro-metabolic.

It improves iron metabolism (prevents iron overload: an ageing marker), protects the gut lining, and calms immune stress— which shows directly in the skin.

Glow starts in the gut.

Eat: raw colostrum, raw milk, raw dairy in general.Image

You don’t have “acne-prone skin”; you have gut issues, a sluggish liver, poor thyroid function, and are a walking stress ball.

Here’s how to tackle ACNE without needing to visit a dermatologist (spoiler alert: they’ll most likely make things worse).

A GUIDE: for women & men🧵: Image
This guide combines insights into gut health, inflammation, hormonal balance, and nutrition for addressing acne holistically.

By focusing on systemic health, this approach targets the root causes of acne, including hormonal imbalances, gut dysfunction, and chronic inflammation.
I) Fix gut health and reduce inflammation.

The gut plays a central role in acne by influencing systemic inflammation, nutrient absorption, and hormonal balance.

Why gut health matters:

• Endotoxins: Harmful bacteria produce toxins that trigger inflammation, disrupt hormones, and impair skin health.
• Leaky gut: An inflamed gut lining allows toxins and undigested particles into the bloodstream, worsening acne.
• Nutritional deficiencies: Poor gut function reduces absorption of skin-critical nutrients like zinc and B vitamins.
