Fine, I'll pay ALL emergency remediation in the report.

Call my bluff.

You won't and here's why:
On March 19, 2019, Aspen Ridge Homes - owned by the De Gasperis Family - purchased a 60 acre development site on the corner of Don Mills and Eglinton.

The same corner as the Ontario Science Centre.

In April 2019, ONE MONTH LATER, the Ford government announces the new Ontario Line, whose last stop is - you guessed it - Science Centre at Don Mills and Eglinton.

What a lucky investment. Image
This is the same De Gasperis Family who owns thousands of acres of land in the Greenbelt.

Where Ford decided to build Highway 413 - a highway no one except the land owners want.

The land value increase is estimated at $8.3 billion.

Back to the Science Centre.

Red is the De Gasperis/Aspen Ridge Crosstown Towers development.
Yellow is the Science Centre site. Image
Science Centre was designed to last for 250+ years, and the government's own engineering report say it does not need to be closed.

Yet, it was condemned on a Friday while the Premier is on vacation until October (!!)
Why the urgency?

It's obvious: construction equipment is already on site. It's literally across the road.
Next, we'll see the Ford public destruction playbook:

1. Fence off the cite.

2. Begin demolition before the public can intervene (Ontario Place).

3. Run a opaque, biased process to select a new use for the site.
Anyone want to guess who's going to win that process?

Dollars to donuts it's the developers who Ford has already given $8.3B in public land to.

Whose construction equipment is ACROSS THE ROAD.
For the record, I'm in great physical and mental health, so if I suddenly stop being, can you look into that?😂
Why do I care if some "old building" gets turned into condos? Isn't that NIMBY?

Our few remaining grand public spaces should stay in the hands of the public.

Once they've gone private, they're gone forever.
Don’t be mislead with headlines about costs. We’re spending $225M to get out of alcohol contracts a few months early. We could find $10M for a roof.

This is about reallocating AAA public land, full stop.
