#ViktorOrbán's speech at the Baile Tusnad summer university in bullet points
THREAD 1.
"Trump ante Portas"
Orbán's peace mission was an act of Christian duty. Image
2.
The EU is striving for peace through war.
It resembles the argument of Lenin that the withering of the state happens through the strengthening of the state, and Orwell's newspeak and the famous "war is peace".
3.
The US-Russian, Swiss-Russian and Ukrainian-Chinese diplomatic exchanges in the last two weeks were the results and outcomes of Hungary's peace mission.
4.
None of the warring parties want peace right now because they have legitimate reasons to fight:
a) Ukraine sees its fight as a defensive war against a foreign invasion
b) Russia is not ready to accept a potential NATO presence at the Ukrainian-Russian border
5.
Ukraine is much stronger and resilient than expected, because it found a new historic mission for itself: it redefined its role as the new border guard of the West.
Ukraine's demands to the West are based on this new self-perception.
6.
The West completely underestimated and misunderstood Russia's real economic resilience and strength. Russia has a capable and adaptive economy that managed well all war and sanction related challenges. This is the reason why EU sanctions does not and will not work.
7. The EU has abandoned his political autonomy and self-interest. It subordinated itself to the US democratic administration and Democratic Party. The EU is not a policy maker anymore, just a policy taker.
8.
This subordination is also well demonstrated by the fact that Germany did not even protest against the US-led terror attack against its assets and sovereignty when Nord Stream 2 was destroyed.
9.
The Franco-German engine ceased to exist and determine the strategic direction of European politics.
It became irrelevant and can be anytime bypassed.
10.
The Franco-German engine was supplemented by a London-Warsaw-Kyiv-Baltic States-Scandinavia axis which determines European security and geopolitics.
11.
Poland readjusted its strategy according to its new alliance system.
Poland's strategic goals are:
1) to become the largest US military base in Europe
2) to strategically weaken Russia
3) and to outgrow Germany, which is not unfeasible in light of German de-industrialization and Polish growth figures
12.
However, it must also be emphasized that actually Poland has the most insincere and immoral foreign policy in Europe. It condemns Hungary due to its existent economic ties with Russia, while in fact Poland also imports significant amounts of crude oil, via proxies, from Russia.
13.
This change in Polish foreign and security policy led to the abandoning of cooperation in V4 frames and Warsaw's reorientation to the London-Warsaw-Kyiv-Baltic States-Scandinavia axis.
14. The West should reconsider its position with regard to Ukraine in light of the fact that the whole World-and especially the non-Western part of the World - supports Russia in this conflict.
15.
According to the Western elites, nation states are not central categories of political thinking and policy making anymore. This is the reason why Central Europeans and Western elites are not able to understand each other anymore.
16.
Re European Parliament elections.
"Brussels" is occupied by a left-liberal oligarchy that looks down to the votes of blue collar workers or people without university degree.
17.
The left-liberal elites of Europe are not European elites, but international, because they don't pursue European interest but Transatlantic ones.
They are not democrats, because they don't care about the voice and vote of the people. They are oligarchs.
18.
Western soft power failed. Today Russia has effective soft power.
Western soft power failed because it was centered in the past decade around the "LGBTQ-culture" which is widely rejected around the world.
Russia's opposition to the Western LGBTQ-power strengthens Russian soft power at the global stage.
19.
The West will ultimately fail.
The West will lose the war in Ukraine, and will lose its economic, political and cultural power. The decline of the West will accelerate the change of the global order.
20.
The change of the global order will be bigger than anytime over the past 500 years. The time of Western dominance is over and decades if not centuries of Asian dominance will come.
Asia already has a demographic, financial and economic advantage over the West.
21.
And Asia will soon have the advantage in R&D and technology as well and will catch up with regard to military might.
Asian countries will soon have the best universities, best space research and best medicine as well.
22.
A Trump administration is the last chance of the US to keep its leading role at the global stage.
However, a Trump administration will try to preserve and strengthen US power by re-evaluating and streamlining the global positions and presence of the US.
It will abandon Europe.
23.
Ukraine won't be EU or NATO member, because the EU cannot afford this financially.
Ukraine will return to the role and status of a buffer state.
Poland's strategic aspirations will spectacularly fail, allowing Poland's return in the V4 frame of Central European cooperation.
24.
Hungary will remain in the EU, but on its own terms.
Western Europe won't return to the political fundaments of national states. However, they must accept and tolerate the fundamental political differences of Central European countries that are built on the principles of sovereignty and nation states.
25.
Hungary's future success requires a Grand Strategy.
This grand strategy will be built on the following principles:
- soft power (increased influence in Brussels and the global stage)
- connectivity
- rejection of any forms of global block building
- protection of Hungary's sovereignty in political, economic and cultural sense
- industrial production & full employment
- immigration of people from Western Europe who prefer a non-multicultural, conservative, family and nation based society to live in

No legal arguments at hand? Take your most political one and claim that it is actually a legal one. Or a sort of...
No, the fact that #HU24EU is already ongoing has actually no direct legal implications. #EUCO still has the discretional power to determine the presidency calendar.

2. Over the past days, arguments were repeated that cutting short Viktor #Orbán's Council Presidency aka #HU24EU is built on shaky legal basis & #CJEU would actually rule against the decision, in favor of Hungary.
3. There is one thing common in all these statements: they don't make any legal argument at all.

Following the first week of #HU24EU which 🇭🇺 PM #Orbán actively exploited to ridicule & troll the EU & spread instability, I would like to remind that it would be still possible to deprive him the #CouncilPresidency & move on with an extended #Polish one.
THREAD on why & how 1.
2. As correctly predicted more than a month ago, #Orbán actively uses and abuses #Hungary's rotating EU Council Presidency to demonstrate his political autonomy, undermine joint EU positions, support contenders & ultimately troll the EU.

3. However, last week's "peace missions" to #Moscow & #Beijing were only the beginning. More uncoordinated (and undesired) snap visits will come - SCOOP - to Donald #Trump in the US and to #Netanjahu in #Jerusalem.
And we are still far away from the 🇺🇸🇬🇪🇲🇩 elections.

We put pen to paper with @VeghZsuzsanna to provide you a readout of last week's #EUCO & its developments with #Ukraine & #Hungary.

We argue that the battle with the 🇭🇺 government over financial and political support for #Ukraine is far from over in the #EU.
3/4
The EU 26 must demonstrate that they are up to the task to circumvent a Hungarian blockade and put together an intergovernmental financial vehicle within two to three months.

#Slovak President @ZuzanaCaputova appoints #RobertFico's next government this afternoon.
While in balance of power #Fico made far reaching concessions to #Hlas, the composition of the government justifies all previous concerns.
THREAD 1/10

2.
Robert #Kalinak, Fico's right-hand man & minister of interior during the #Kuciak murder, will serve as #Slovakia's new defense minister. Together with Fico, early 2022 Kalinak belonged to the most vocal critics of the Defense Cooperation Agreement with the #UnitedStates. #DCA
3.
Its really hard to see how can #Kalinak represent continuity & not a fundamental break with the policy line of @JaroNad & how can he work toward a constructive role of #Slovakia in @NATO.

Democratic opposition most likely winning in #Poland, here are four takes of mine what to watch, what comes and what should come next.
THREAD 1/8
First, with #PiS losing majority & the #PO, Poland 2050 and Left coalition has a clear mandate to govern,
notesfrompoland.com/2023/10/15/exi…
2/8
president #Duda faces a tough choice between party political loyalty to PiS & his future career beyond his presidency term.
He might choose the first option, trying to win time for #Kaczynski. Hence the road to a new #Tusk coalition government might be long and bumpy.
3/8
Second, this government has the mission & the never returning window of opportunity to reestablish #ruleoflaw and #LiberalConstitutionalism in #Poland.
The #ConstitutionalTribunal being captured by PiS & Duda having the power of presidential vetos,

1. Strong start with a direct provocation to the #Romanian foreign office in response to an alleged 🇷🇴 demarche: "we have never stated that "Erdély/Transylvania" or "Székelyföld/Székelyland" would be Romanian territorial entities"
2. Followed by a cheep ideological cut: "nowadays Western values only mean three tings: 1) migration, 2) LGBTQ ideology and 3) war"
