‼️ “In three Russian regions, grocery shelves in stores are empty after migrants were expelled”

🍿🥤 I did warn them!

moscowtimes.ru/2024/07/30/s-p…
Image
Shelves have gone bare in the following regions

👉 Yaroslavl
👉 Ivanovo
👉 Kostroma

These are connected to Pyaterochka stores. Remember when Russia started messing with them. It was part of the X5 company
Image
“the problem with deliveries of bread, cereals, flour, spices and bottles of water arose last week.” Image
“As Mash writes, the reason was a failure in the operation of the X5 Group distribution centers, from where goods are delivered to stores. Following anti-migrant raids, as a result of which some employees were deported from Russia, the centers are short about 1,000 workers.” Image
“Pyaterochka said that it would take about a month to resolve the problem.”

Again the corporate structure of X5 has lost control of the Russian subsidiary, months ago, and this is what happened.

There is NO LABOR LEFT TO PULL FROM.

Enjoy your bare shelves

‼️ Russian OFZ Federal Bond Update Thread

👉 for Q3 Auction Day 5 (31 July 2024)

The Key Rate increased to 18% on 26 July 2024.

The Ministry of Finance chose to only have an auction for the variable rate coupon this time.

They placed 38.001 Billion Rubles this time.

I made some new charts! But first, the usual:

If you have no idea why we watching this, please read this long thread that explains the economic situation Russia is in
And this thread will explain all the bits for how the table was made.

I STILL can’t access the Ministry of Finance’s website.

DO NOT FALL FOR THIS KIND OF NONSENSE

I cannot express to you, how wrong some of these forecasts have been in the past. ESPECIALLY if you go back to beginning of July 2023 and track the progress.

NOBODY predicted the massive key rate hikes (in Russia)

kommersant.ru/doc/6864645
Image
Actually, I want to make a point here. This is a chart of Russia’s key rates over time. The data matches my bar graph below, but it shows the time better.

You can see the knee jerk reaction following the invasion

rbc.ru/economics/30/0…

Image
But then it went down to 7.5% & normalized for a while. Until the July 2023 Central Bank meeting

Leading into that meeting, there were predictions of rate would increase to 8.0% “All economists interviewed by Kommersant FM are confident of this.”

WRONG

Words of Caution:

The Russia Government is heavily increasing their oppression on the Russian population.

I would warn you that their reactions may be different to what you might expect.
There is little expectation that protests will result in change or that people will band together to fight for change.

Instead you may see alternatives. More people may choose to leave Russia IF THEY ARE ABLE TO. Debts, for example, may block their exit.
Some people may just attempt to dissolve into the wilderness.

You may begin to people turn to self harm as an escape mechanism. Either something as extreme as suicide or less extreme like drugs or alcohol.

‼️ Russia: “The State Duma has adopted a law banning trash streams”

They have given a definition for “trash streaming”

rbc.ru/society/30/07/…
Image
Trash streaming is “information that insults human dignity and public morality, expresses obvious disrespect for society, contains images of actions with signs of illegality, including violence, and is distributed out of hooliganism, selfishness or other base motives.” Image
That sounds like…most of the videos that come from Russia.

Is anyone else getting heavy 1984 vibes?

‼️ Russia: “Perishable goods shipments grow due to exports”

But not as much as they could if there weren’t logistics issues.

kommersant.ru/doc/6863796
Image
The article gives some statistics, but Association of Food Sector Organizations (ASORPS) says that the main thing that’s reduced in shipping is beer.

A decrease of 184,000 tons or 24.3% year on year. Which seems…weird. Image
And they said that transport beer long distances could be profitable if it was going to remote regions and that transnational companies used to do it.

So why the big drop? (alcohol intake is increasing not decreasing) Image

‼️ Elevators in Russia: They’re old & dangerous

According to the Article

👉 581,000 units total
👉 72,000 have been in service over 25 years
👉 8,200 were purchased in the first half of 2024 as part of capital repairs.

*Prepare for a thread*

kommersant.ru/doc/6862354
Image
I think the article is going to maybe distract people from the bigger picture understanding of the problem.

And I’ve actually seen this problem frequently with Russian data.

So I think it’s time for a lesson on interpreting data in these articles. So you don’t fall for a trap
In an *ideal* situation the elevators demand would be smooth with a gradual increase over time as population centers grow.
