Assassinating Haniya is an empty victory image that reeks of desperation & malevolence.
He was a politician not a militant leader. Israeli media themselves admit his killing will have minimal effect on Hamas' operations.
But it'll dramatically impact internal power dynamics🧵
2\ Haniya lived in the open & NOT in hiding like Sinwar. So reaching his head is NOT an achievement.
Why kill him now? 1- Ruin the ceasefire/prisoner swap negotiations 2- Kill chances of Palestinian unity after Beijing's summit 3- Push Hamas to become more hardline
3\ Haniya was a pragmatist & had a moderating influence on Sinwar & Hamas' military wing.
Khaled Meshal, Haniya likely temporary successor, is a moderate within the movement, but doesn't have as much authority over the militants & Sinwar. He's not a Gazan & not as well-connected to everyone on the ground as Haniya was.
4\ Israel assassinated Marwan Issa, the head of the Qassam Brigades in the Gaza Strip & claims to have assassinated the Qassam chief, al-Deif, (Hamas denies this).
This empties the stage for the heir apparent, Sinwar's brother Mohammed, further bolstering the Sinwars' power.
5\ Haniya was supportive of unity with the Palestinian Authority in the Beijing summit last week & held moderate & pragmatist positions in the ceasefire negotiations.
He would've been the best equipped person to persuade Sinwar of a deal & influence his inner circle.
6\ Haniya was on his way out already in Hamas' internal elections scheduled after the war, b/c he'd already served 2 terms in office (Hamas has a strict limit).
So, again, why take him out other than for a desperate victory image & to ruin the ceasefire talks?
7\ Ex-Top Israeli General Amiram Levin admits the assassination of Haniya is "madness" & says the "security forces should've strongly opposed" it
Israeli experts know behind this empty victory image is a deliberate attempt by Netanyahu to destroy the hostage/ceasefire negotiations!
Meshaal & Abu Marzouq are both considered moderates in Hamas & both served previously as heads of Hamas' political bureau. But both are not Gazan & that impacts their chances, since Gaza has become the centre of gravity for the movement.
9\ Haniya openly & officially offered Israel peace on the basis of a two-state solution last November.
I.e. He was willing to accept a Palestinian state on 22% of historic Palestine.

This is the same person, before & after the Gaza Genocide🧵
Mahmoud Hammad's wife & 5 children were murdered by Israel & buried beneath the rubble of their bombed home
He spent 100 days removing 360 tons of rubble with his barehands & sifting through sand to find their bones
2\ Every day, Mahmoud comes to the ruins of his home with a sledgehammer to clear the rubble & look for his family's remains. It took him a 100 days.
Mahmoud found tiny bones of his unborn son. His wife was 9-months pregnant when Israel bombed them all.
3\ Mahmoud, himself wounded during Israel's genocide, dug & dug to 9 meters beneath his home, hoping to find his family's remains
He found a few small bones, some belonging to his wife & some to his unborn son. He assumes some of his children where burned to ash by the Israeli airstrike (those closest to impact) & that some of his wife's remains were snatched by stray dogs
Throughout the genocide, starved dogs were seen devouring the remains of Gazans killed by Israel
🚨Netanyahu is promoting Israel's most genocidal commander to become the Prime Minister's Military Secretary
Yehuda Vach is an extremist settler from Kiryat Arba responsible for GHF massacres of starved aid seekers; flattening entire cities; & murdering scores of civilians...🧵
2\ Vach blew up Gaza's sole cancer specialist hospital, the Turkish hospital
He created his "private army" of extremist settlers & terrorist "hilltop youth" to demolish homes in Gaza & hired his brothers to lead the job to "flatten Gaza"
3\ Vach sought to "flatten as much of Gaza as possible" & is responsible for creating the "Netzarim extermination zone" that cut Gaza in 2 pieces by a giant deadly "corridor" where IDF soldiers were ordered to kill any child, woman or man that comes near the invisible boundaries of that area
NOT a reconstruction project: this is fraud grifting scheme 🧵
Read the small print to see:
70% of Gaza's coastline will be privitized & monetized to create a "glitzy riviera"
"Reconstructed" will be done in Gaza's fully depopulated & IDF-controlled half where only gangs live & run the place:
a) Israel shoots dead anyone who tries to get to that "New Rafah" area & even if that area opens up, the IDF wouldn't let anyone cross there under the pretext of "preventing Hamas infiltration". They'll blackmail & extort anyone who tries to cross to become a snitch/collaborator in return for passage into "new Rafah."
b) Who would want to move into a concentration camp run by ISIS commanders, drug dealers, thieves, predators & killers? Anyone moving into this area will be disavowed by their families, cast out by their communities & branded a collaborator.
2\ "Reconstruction" under Trump's plan does NOT mean rebuilding (Israel is still destroying homes in that every area until now)
It means at best sheltering people in "temporary" structures, e.g. shipping containers, which turn into baking ovens in summer heat. No infrastructure! nytimes.com/2025/11/25/wor…
3\ Anyone moving into "new Rafah" will be locked up there on the Egyptian border & prevented from returning to Gaza
They would only have one option, according to the Trump reconstruction plan: "enjoy greater freedom to leave Gaza"
🚨Why is Israel flooding Gaza with Gold-plated Iphone 17s while preventing medicine, reconstruction, tents or basic necessities?
Six reasons: mass surveillance 24/7, voice recognition technology, propaganda, propping up gangs, pure corruption & possibly another pager attack 🧵
1\ Mass surveillance: Every single phone Israel allows into Gaza is implanted with an Israeli bug that allows them a back entry door into everything on that phone (e.g. camera, microphone, internet traffic, passwords, chat history...etc)
Smart phones become portable intel gathering centres for the IDF. Any person carrying a smart phone in Gaza is unknowingly walking around with a possible recording device 24/7. They don't even need to be using those phones at all for the IDF to activate the recorder or camera.
Every single phone call made in Gaza or the West Bank from a "smart" or "dumb phone" is also recorded by Israel & stored in the cloud. This giant data base is analyzed by AI or the data of specific individuals is retrieved upon need by the IDF. middleeasteye.net/news/israel-ca…
2\ Dumb phones cannot be used as recorders outside phone calls. Smart phones, however, are connected to the internet & have a lot of apps or malevolent bugs that can be used to activate the microphone even when the phone is not being used.
This is Minority Report level dystopia! Imagine the amount of data Israel can collect on anyone in Gaza at any minute without regulations, rules, privacy rights...etc.
What's next for Gaza? 🧵
After the hostage release, Israel will hold onto a fully depopulated 58% of Gaza.
After an international force enters, Israel will hold onto 40% of Gaza where the IDF's proxy gangs will thrive!
Genocide or reconstruction? The devil is in the details!
2\ Right now, the 58% beyond the yellow line is not only under IDF control, it's fully depopulated. Any Gaza civilian that tries to enter is shot on sight. Israel killed 35 Gazans in the first 24 hours of the ceasefire.
Israel is planning to hold onto those areas for a long time
3\ Israel's proxy gangs (e.g. Abu Shabab, Husam al-Astal, Ashraf Mansi) are all currently hiding in the 58% of Gaza the IDF is stationed in
Israel cultivated those gangs to create "gated communities" (concentration camps) to push Gazans into.
Now with the ceasefire, Israel is using those gangs to launch attacks on Hamas deep inside Gaza without the IDF having to invade.
This is Israel's way of saying "we're not violating the ceasefire, it's Palestinians killing Palestinians."
Israel will also try to get Gazans to move into those areas with promises of a better life while the other half of Gaza remains reduced to rubble. kan.org.il/content/kan-ne…
This plan is significantly better than previous Trump proposals (e.g. no ethnic cleansing, abolishing GHF, no occupation or annexation, decommissioning not disarmament...)
Yet it's filled with negatives, explosive mines & loopholes that'd allow Netanyahu to occupy Gaza forever🧵
2\ Positives:
The infamous GHF would be abolished since the plan says aid will only be distributed by groups "not associated in any manner with either party" (GHF is an IDF front).
Full suspension of "all military operations" (e.g. bombing) & immediate end to the war
3\ Trump's plan now talks about decommissioning instead of disarmament. There's a major difference; the latter connotes surrender, whereas decommissioning is gradual, tied to a political process & includes reintegration of militants into security sector ecfr.eu/article/decomm…
