He's raging. At the beginning of the speech, Trump’s eyes were squinty/narrowed…his brow/forehead was tight/furrowed….and his mouth was very tight, especially at the beginning of the speech.
When he's feeling it/himself at rally's, he's usually very animated/loose with his mouth. Not today.
The one notable time when he was animated with his mouth was when he was talking about Federal Reserve Chairman, Jerome Powell, and it indicated contempt (1:04:30).

Trump's rage was channeled into inciting fear:
He repeatedly claimed Americans are not safe, that the economy would collapse into a depression if he's not president, and that there will be a world war.
Trump uses fear to scare people into self-preservationally voting for a “strongman”:
Trump said, "This is the most dangerous period of time for our country".
The fear he is mongering is likely projection because he knows that if he loses the election he goes to prison….so the wave of enthusiasm for Harris means….. "this is the most dangerous period of time for [him]”.
He's scared. He channels fear into anger. He channels anger into retaliation aggression (revenge). This thread analyzes the neuropsychological process of "revenge politics"
The repeated theme of Trump's speech was that everyone other than him (Biden, Kamala, Walz, and even a reporter asking a triggering question about Trump not doing a campaign event for over a week) is “dumb” and incompetent…..
......that they are "not respected", and that they are "laughed at".
Consider Trump's projective statements against the backdrop of @gtconway3d's mocking @PsychoPAC24 ad campaign….
.....and how effectively Democrats are defining/labeling Trump/Vance as being “weird”.....and all of the couch jokes (laughing) made of Vance.
Trump's repeated accusations of Harris being dumb and incompetent will not only make it more difficult for Trump to process/accept losing the election to her...
....but it will potentially cause his unhinged supporters to believe that the election was “once again” stolen from Trump...
....because, in their mind, there is no way the country would legitimately vote her in.
On election morning in 2020, I wrote this thread analyzing/the effect of Trump similarly creating "pathological expectations"....and predicting what ended up becoming the "Big Lie":
Thread analyzing how Trump's pathologically fragile ego precludes him from putting himself in an intellectually subordinate position.... which prevents him from having the capacity to learn.
Trump literally thinks like child. He sounds like a 3 year old telling a shopping mall Santa Claus what a good boy he has been.....and which neighbor kid has been mean to him.
Deciphered transcript of Trump's random stream of Narcissistic consciousness from the interview:
“One of the most famous/richest/influential people (Zuckerberg) in the world who runs one of the biggest/most important companies in the world……called me multiple times because I’m so important, and because he wanted to talk to me so badly….to tell me how amazing the media/TV event/show that I headlined (RNC convention) was…..to tell me how amazing I am….and to tell me how brave I am……and to tell me that because I am so brave that this really important influential person (Zuckerberg) cannot fathom supporting anyone but me because he respects me so much….because although this amazing grandiose thing (my amazing reaction to the assassination attempt) is so respected by this important person (Zuckerberg)….but to me it was a normal response because I’m so amazing that it’s normal for me to do amazing things….and because I’m so amazing I’m going to remind everyone again that this really important person (Zuckerberg) called me multiple times on consecutive days to tell me how amazing I am…..and to grovel to me with apologies……..but these bad people who don’t like me enough (Google) didn’t call me to tell me how amazing I am or to grovel to me….I do shows like yours (H)….your show is amazing because you have me on, and grovel to me because I’m amazing….and they (the rest of the country who loves me) show clips of your show when I’m on “all over the place” because I’m amazing….and then “you’re [I’m] all over those little beautiful cell phones” that have pictures/videos of me, because I’m amazing….you have a great product, a great brand because you grovel to me…..so you [“I”] have to get out….you [“I”] have to do things like your amazing show (because you grovel to me)….and other shows that grovel to me…..Google has been very bad, they’ve been very irresponsible because they don’t grovel to me….and if/when I’m president I’m going to take retaliatory actions [“I will be your retribution”] against them…..I will say this…..this really important person [Zuckerberg] that I used to hate, but am now repeatedly reminding everyone of how much he likes me and that “he called me a lot”…..he likes me….”
In fact, as people like @TimAlberta have written/analyzed, when separated from political consumption/discourse, most are still good people in just about every other aspect of their life.
When Trump feels betrayed, his pathologically fragile ego causes him to compulsively sabotage his long-term interests/goals in order to vindictively pursue his short term "wins" (revenge).
The Right isn't handling the abruptness of not just the change in reality....but the change in momentum of what felt like an inevitable election.
When people warn that the other side has to "be very careful", it's often because they're scared.
The fact that she calls Kamala, "the luckiest son of gun".....is especially telling.
We don't resentfully say someone is lucky unless we believe they are "unfairly" in a better position than us......or unless we believe they are "unfairly"......"winning".

The Left knows this well, because the narrative after Trump was shot was the Trump was the "luckiest son of b*tch" ever.
In the closing statements on @donlemon's post-convention, post-Trump speech show last Thursday, I discussed avoiding and accepting the inevitability narrative (and succumbing to a defeatist mindset) that the Right is now struggling to process:
Watching the convention up to this point has left me with several observations.
Trump now has a very professional organization. The convention was well thought out, well produced, organized, mostly disciplined, did an excellent job of storytelling, appealed to a broad group of people, and did an excellent job of relying upon and manipulating our collective short term attention spans (recency bias)....which create poor short term memories.
This parallels not only a collective "what have you done for me lately".....but a, "what have you not done to me lately" (January 6ht, etc.) mindset.

The convention hit all of emotional buttons...
...anger, hate, resentment, grievance...
...but also positive emotions......including doing a very good job of normalizing/humanizing Trump (and Vance) to/for those who don't understand his pathology.
One of my observations of Cluster B/Narcissists is that they tend to be expert at image creation/maintenance/preservation.
This convention…..especially the speeches by Sarah Huckabee Sanders and Lara Trump…..created a gaslighted image of Trump that is inconsistent with the reality of who he is.
But to the casual voter who doesn’t obsess over politics, this was likely very effective.
Especially just days after Trump was shot.

This convention frames the Republican Party/MAGA as embodying everything that the Democratic party claims and aspires to be....or at least did for much of our lifetimes:
A "big tent" party for many different, diverse groups of people.
Right now, or at least during this convention, the Republican party/MAGA is holding itself out as many different variations of the "little guy" from all walks of life
For example:
The black woman who angrily spoke of violence in her economically poor neighborhood, the mom whose son died of fentanyl.
…victims of crime (with an emphasis on undocumented immigrants)…
…people who can’t afford a house, or even pay their inflated bills…
….. families who lost sons to unnecessary “forever wars” pursued by the military industrial complex elites who profited from them...
….twenty-somethings who are still resentful over the infringement of their lives/freedoms during covid.....and who not only tend to have a general aversion/rebelliousness to authority (re: incumbents)….but also gravitate towards antagonistic figures who stick their thumbs in the proverbial eyes of authority/orthodox.….
