🌡️🏅OLYMPIC WARMING: #ClosingCeremony in #Paris2024 is tonight & it may be too hot for the games to return there.

🌡️🏅OLYMPIC WARMING: This means that Paris has added ~120 more scorching days over 86°F & ~80 more sweltering nights over 68°F.
Extreme heat not only gets hotter during the day, but provides little relief at night for athletes & visitors.

@ClimateCentral @CNN 🌡️🏅TOO HOT TO HOST: New @carbonplanorg study shows past host sites will be too hot to host again by 2050.
Using wet bulb globe temp to measure heat & its impact on the body, heat stress becomes too dangerous for athletes over 82°F, ruling out many cities that are warming fast.
🌡️🏅TOO HOT TO HOST: So many red hot dots represent all the cities that will be too hot to host by 2050.
Solutions? Host in cities at higher elevations, or not in summer. To capture summer months, only cool season Southern Hemisphere cities may be a viable choice. @CNN
