In 2018, Mark Zuckerberg was one of the most hated CEOs on the planet.

6 years later, he wears chains, surfs in tuxedos and fights Lex Fridman.

Everyone seems to love him.

It's the most brilliant PR transformation of the century and everyone needs to understand why it worked: 🧵Image
Image
Remember this scrawny, awkward hacker?

Now, he’s a jacked CEO who fights Lex Fridman & wears chains.

Here’s what you missed about Zuck’s PR transformation:
Image
Image
2004: A nervous 19-year-old in flip-flops launches Facebook from his dorm room.

2024: A confident 40-year-old in gold chains wakeboarding while holding the American flag.

What happened in between?
It's not just about looks.

Zuck's gone from awkward Congressional hearings to scrapping with UFC fighters.

From "smoking meats" videos to receiving gold chains from T-Pain.

This isn't an accident...
Coincidentally, it's coincided with Meta getting its mojo back.

Meta stock is up 60% this year (& 160% in the last 5).

Zuck's transformation mirrors Meta's:

• Meta: From scandal-plagued social media to AI innovator
• Zuck: From robotic CEO to relatable tech bro

The secret? Image
Zuck's new strategy: Authenticity.

He's not pretending to be a normal guy anymore. He's owning his billionaire status.

• Wakeboarding in a tux? Check.
• Collecting designer chains? Yep.
• Training with MMA fighters? You bet.

Other transformations we're seeing:
Zuck's whole wardrobe got an upgrade:

• Out: Dishwater tees and hoodies
• In: Capri cabana shirts and Yeezy-esque sweatshirts

And:

• He's let his hair grow out into Gen-Z curls
• He's engaging with fashion designers in IG comments

The secret: Image
While Elon Musk picks culture war fights on X, Zuck's projecting a "whatever bro, I'm doing me" vibe.

By embracing his quirky billionaire status instead of hiding it, Zuck's become MORE relatable.

Now, he's just spending time with his family & spending his billions as we would.
The big takeaway:

Whether or not you liked Zuck before, you probably like him more now.

And it's all down to him just being himself.

This is what people get wrong about personal brand:
They think a personal brand is about being someone else.

That a personal brand = the LinkedIn influencer types.

But Zuck's transformation shows you:

Your authentic self is what leads to the best outcomes.

@iamjasonlevin puts this extremely well:
"If you want to be loved by masses, stop pretending to be normal and middle class and acting ashamed of your wealth (no one finds shame cool)."

This goes for whoever you are:
If you're just starting out to entrepreneurship, don't try and share lessons from a place of authority.

Those who ACTUALLY have authority won't respect you for it.

Be authentic. Share your journey & struggles instead.

Now, you're probably wondering what MY authority is here:
The reason I can share this lesson is because I work with founders to craft their personal brands online.

I KNOW Zuck's lesson applies. I see it in the results we get for founders we work with:

Authenticity sells.

People crave it, and they can see through the BS.

So:
Tell your real story online.

Share the successes, wins and wisdom.

The benefits are infinite: You'll attract people who align with your vision in the thousands.

Hiring, investment, sales — all become a breeze.

Just be authentic.

Personal Branding.

Since then, I quit my job to build @ThoughtleadrX — and now we're working with some of your favorite founders.

in 1979, Steve Jobs paid $1M to see Xerox's secret project.

Then Bill Gates found out through a former Xerox employee.

Within months, both were racing to copy what Xerox was working on.

It ended up sparking the biggest rivalry in tech history...

Here's the full story: Image
1979: A young Steve Jobs visits Xerox PARC.

What he sees changes computing forever: A revolutionary interface where you can point and click with a mouse.

No more typing commands. Just visual icons you can interact with.

But this story isn't about Xerox...
It's about what happened next:

Jobs immediately realizes this is the future of computing.

He negotiates a deal: Apple offers Xerox 100,000 shares of pre-IPO stock worth $1M to peek at their technology.

Then...

He called it the 'Tesla killer.'

Their stock hit $70 billion before they made a single car.

Then, their founder's lies unraveled—and they lost 90% of their value.

By 2023, their founder was in prison.

The unbelievable story of Nikola and his hydrogen truck scandal: 🧵 Image
2015: Trevor Milton had a vision.

Zero-emission semi-trucks powered by hydrogen fuel cells and batteries.

He founded Nikola, initially known as Bluegentech, with a $2 million investment from Worthington Industries.

The goal?
To do to trucking what Tesla did to cars.

But there was one key difference...

Milton's past was already riddled with controversy.

His previous company, dHybrid, was sued by Swift Transportation over a $16 million contract.

The allegation?

Donald Trump just said:

"I'm not looking to go back into the past."

His new strategy? Unite America through prosperity.

He just revealed his blueprint for the next 4 years in an interview with NBC...

And these are his 11 revelations that will define America's future:🧵 Image
1. A complete reversal on tariffs

Trump calls tariffs "the most beautiful word."

His plan? Impose tariffs of "about 25%" on Mexico and Canada unless they stop illegal immigration.

He's already tested this approach:
2. A radical shift in foreign policy

Trump's putting NATO membership on the line.

His exact words: "If they're paying their bills and if I think they're treating us fairly, I'd stay with NATO."

Currently, Europe contributes $100B while the US pays $350B.

This connects to his next move:

In 1981, McDonald's and Burger King went to war.

Burger King hired a 5-year-old girl for a tongue-in-cheek commercial.

McDonald's then sued that 5-year-old.

This kicked off the most expensive fast-food war in history.

Here's the full story🧵 Image
The year was 1981.

McDonald's dominated fast food with their iconic golden arches and Happy Meals.

But Burger King was tired of playing second fiddle.

So they launched an ad that would spark a decade-long war: Image
They hired a 5-year-old Sarah Michelle Gellar to do something unprecedented:

Attack McDonald's by name on national television.

In the ad, she compared McDonald's burgers to Burger King's, claiming they were 20% smaller.

What happened next would change fast food marketing forever...

Tesla just hit $25 billion in revenue.

But while everyone's focused on Tesla's cars, Elon's been quietly building something bigger...

A secret division that's growing 52% year-over-year.

Here's how Elon's master plan is unfolding: Image
The auto industry is struggling:

• Massive recalls
• Supply chain issues
• Profit margin challenges

Yet Tesla's maintained profitability through it all.

How? Because Elon's been building a secret weapon that's transforming their business:
Tesla's energy division.

In Q3 2024, this "side business" grew 52% year-over-year, generating $2.376 billion in revenue.

That's nearly 10% of Tesla's total revenue.

And they've already earned over $7 billion from energy in 2024 alone.

In November 2023, Disney tried to destroy X (Twitter).

They pulled their ads and cost Elon $75M in revenue.

But instead of backing down...

Elon told their CEO to go f*** himself.

Here's the unbelievable story of how one decision cost Disney $200B: Image
November 2023.

Disney's CEO Bob Iger made a decision that would spark one of the most explosive corporate feuds in history:

He pulled all of Disney's ads from X (formerly Twitter).

What followed would reshape the future of media forever... Image
The official reason? Content moderation concerns.

But beneath the surface, a bigger battle was brewing:

The clash between traditional media control and digital freedom of speech.

Disney wasn't alone in their move:
