It’s sickening watching ISIS destroy these statues, some of which date back thousands of years before the Romans
But that’s more or less what the left wants to do to America as it destroys
statues and history
It’s also my pet conspiracy theory for why Obama aided them
🧵👇
First, this is mainly just idle speculation based on what similarities I see between the woke left and history hating Islamists, namely their willingness to destroy artifacts of history they now see as heretical. There’s no hard evidence Obama supported them for that reason
But remember, under the Timber Sycamore program, Obama did have the COA provide weapons to Islamist groups including ISIS
Relatedly, there’s a 2012 DIA report that indicates Obama and allied countries provided aid to the groups that became ISIS, one about which @GenFlynn was damned for speaking
He also nixed at least one operation that would have destroyed them early on
So Obama was involved in ISIS’s rise, though the degree to which he was is debatable and subject to much speculation given America classifying everything
And what did ISIS do with the weapons “we” gave them?
Atrocities used to justify American involvement in the region, murders of Christians that Assad and Russia eventually stopped, and an utter destruction of historical artifacts, including the ancient statuary in the video at the top
The statuary aspect was particularly tragic as it was irreplaceable.
Like older versions of the Buddhas destroyed by the formerly CIA-supported Taliban in Afghanistan, no one’s making more statues from ancient Babylon of the other Bronze Age Kingdoms, nor is anyone making another Palmyra
The Palmyra case is similarly tragic
One of the best preserved Roman cities, an excellent example of Roman city building and beauty and a center of history given the role Palmyra played in the late Roman Empire period
Yes ISIS was allowed to destroy it because it was fighting the Syrian government for the city. Our bombers were invading Syrian airspace anyway and could have decimated ISIS before it destroyed one of the great relics of history
Instead ISIS destroyed Palmyra until the area was liberated by Assad and Russia, who saved parts of it like they saved the surviving Christians
And as the terrorists his program directed arms toward destroyed irreplaceable artifacts in Iraq and Syria, Obama declared a similarly total, if less bloody, war on American heritage
The battle flag that Nimrata Haley tore down outside the South Carolina capitol was attacked by Obama, for example
Further, Obama was generally hostile to and ignorant of real American history and heroes, and promoted that myopic worldview
@BrionMcClanahan wrote an excellent essay for the Washington Times that touched on how Obama’s election shows the sorry state of knowledge and attitude in America as regards our history and heroes
Further, his legacy has been used to justify other attacks on American history and memorials to it
That could be seen in 2020 and 2021, where Obama’s presidency and legacy were used to justify statue removal and hostility to history
He also cheered the statue-destroying protesters
And it’s hard not to see the statues destroyed by (Obama supported) BLM thugs in much a different light than those destroyed by (also Obama supported) ISIS thugs
In both cases, the statues were destroyed for ex post facto heresy; their views from and why they represented about yesteryear mean they can’t be tolerated in the radical, extremist present
So ISIS destroyed statues of gods and kings it despises for their heresy to Islam as BLM destroyed statues it despised for their heresy to modern race communism and egalitarianism
I have no real proof that Obama and the CIA supported ISIS because they wanted to further the war on history, it’s just speculation
But it’s at the very least a strange coincidence that the man who waged war on American history and aided those doing the same likewise contributed to the radical war on history abroad
At the very least, his acolytes are motivated by the same impulse
One of the most pervasive and insane lies of the past few decades is that the American Indians were living in peace and harmony until those nasty Europeans showed up and killed them while “stealing” their land
It’s nearly totally false, and is rooted in Cultural Marxism 🧵👇
First, as to the peace loving part, it’s probably the most idiotic myth
While an occasional tribe here or there might have been less violent than others, on the whole they were quite violent
And that’s not just in conquering and subjugating other tribes, though they did that too. Its also in the bloody, sickening tortures they carried out as a matter of course
Burning people alive, raping and torturing to death peaceful European women and children, hacking apart prisoners with sea shells, bit by bit, flaying them alive, etc
And that was widespread. As @njhochman pointed out in a recent tweet, while death by homicides was the cause of 2% of deaths across Europe at the time (17th century), in some native tribes it was 50%. And that often meant being tortured to death, not just stabbed
So it wasn’t for nothing that the American Declaration of Independence called them “merciless Indian savages”
In both their dealings with Europeans and dealings with each other, stomach churning violence was a matter of course and something they developed independently, not as a result of Europeans
The Last of the Mohicans does a great job of showing just how merciless and brutal they were
They’re waging a war on smoking and drinkingbecause they want you alone and atomized
It’s not really a health thing, as shown by what else the same sorts of people allow and promote
A very short 🧵👇
First, yes there are of course health aspects to smoking. It’s awful for you (though it tends to keep you skinny and nicotine itself is a nootropic)
But these same anti-smoking activists promote marijuana, which is the green about as bad for the lungs and can lead to schizophrenia issues
Further, they promote needle issuance to drug addicts, trans surgeries including for minors, claim exercise is bad for you, and promote all manner of similarly anti-health advice
So if they were pro-health, they’d care about all that in addition to smoking and drinking
But they don’t. They just despise those traditional Western vices and promote all manner of Oriental and African degeneracy, from ganga to eunuchs
The constant refrain when you question the current state of things is that “the world is improving” and “poverty is decreasing”
That’s true, but civilization is obviously falling apart. From the perspective of human progress and flourishing, things have gotten far worse
🧵👇
First, it is true that poverty, in many respects, has decreased noticeably
The slums are still around and awful, but rarely in the way that was once common
Similarly, famine is less of a blight than it used to be and more often a result of local gangsterism and fighting than natural disaster or chance
But in pretty much every other realm things have gotten far worse from a civilizational perspective
In fact, aesthetics and caring about what they represent show why and how things are now declining
Much of the Regency and Victorian period was dominated by improvement in terms of creating an aura of grandeur through each and every aspect of life
In dress, in architecture, in art, in sculpture, in imperial possessions and the garb, literal and metaphorical, in which it and its agents were clothed, all of it was meant to create a sense of grandeur
More than that, it was meant to show refinement and accomplishment. They had come far from the Dark Ages and Wars of Religion and were proud to show it in their frock coats and country house palaces
PM Meloni of Italy now says she wants to take on the migrant crisis: "We risk becoming Europe's refugee camp . . . We need a naval blockade in Libya and to start sinking NGO ships"
NATO made the invasion happen...Gaddafi was killed to ensure migrants flow into Europe. A 🧵👇
For one, her whole rant is just absurd. The Italians have a modern air force and navy with 184 vessels, as @Babygravy9 immediately pointed out
If she really wanted to blockade Libya and sink NGO ships, 1) she could and 2) she'd have the Mandate of Heaven and eternal love from her people, who want the migrant crisis to stop
It's that she just doesn't want to do it or is to scared to do it...if she had a spine and the intent, she could just stop the migrant invasion in like a week, if that, and begin remigration
Regardless of Meloni just not wanting to solve the problem, the issue is that NATO murdered Gaddafi in 2011 in brutal fashion so that the flow of migrants from Africa into Italy and Europe would continue
Clinton infamously said "We came, we saw, he died," but she should have appended, "and so Europe will be invaded" onto the end of that, as that is what happened and she wanted to happen
First, as a reminder for those who didn't read the previous 🧵, the reason the governing regimes of the West despise @nayibbukele is that he shows citizens and subjects of such nations that the reason their countries are crime-infested hellholes is government policy, not some inexorable force of crime turning them into that despite government attempts to rectify the situation
The media hates him for a somewhat different, more ideological reason
To them, remember, "our democracy" is sacrosanct
What matters is not outcome; the regime lackeys couldn't care less if their neighborhoods are swarmed with fentanyl addicts breaking into cars
Rather, they care only about means. What they care about is that, if anything is achieved, it is achieved by "democratic means," meaning liberalism and an open society.
How did Mugabe destroy Rhodesia, turning the breadbasket of Africa into a starving hellhole wracked by hyperinflation and famine?
It's a pretty simple story, as things went just how you'd expect, but it holds a good number of important lessons for America
So, a 🧵👇 on this
Mugabe, for those who don't know, was Zimbabwe's "One Man, One Rule, One Time" dictator who came to power shortly after Rhodesia fell and then ruled for decades
He "served" as Prime Minister from 1980 to 1987, and then changed titles and ruled as President from 1987 to 2017
His presidency and prime ministership saw the formerly thriving country of Rhodesia turn into the hellish Zimbabwe, so it's worth understanding how he did that, how he turned the breadbasket of Africa into a starving disaster zone
It took about four steps. Four steps to turn a paradise into hell on Earth
