The Kursk invasion exposes some very serious issues within the Russian military.

That is the lack of quick reacting air-support from fixed-wing fighters.

The main issue is the lack of precision guided munitions like the American GBU-53 or the Chinese YL-14.

Su-34s can easily carry dozens, and release it at an safe distance of ~80km away, recreating the highway of death for Ukraine.

Crucially, the lack of C4ISR coupled with the lack of responsive smart munitions, caused the slow reaction from Russia.

Russian command became way to comfortable with their pace of combat (partly restricted by their arsenal of weapons).

The change of pace caught them off-guard.

War is about industry and its ability to use available components to create the most suitable weapon for your doctrine.

Russia in this regard is not fighting against Ukraine, it's fighting the entire industrial might of NATO.

The UMPK glide bomb kits helps with the rolling thunder type of push against fixed position, which is a good start.

But they are of little use against pop-up and moving threats, such as the surprise invasion of Kursk.

For Russia, this war must be won on the factory floors too.
