This Ukrainian drone tactic of trailing Russian drones home is what the Imperial Japanese Kamikaze corps did to US Navy air strikes returning to their carriers in 1944-1945.

WW2 Kamikaze tactics, 2024 drone edition🧵

This 2020 USNI article details some of those Imperial Japanese 'follow the enemy home' Kamikaze tactics in WW2.

The Imperial Japanese Kamikaze's also doxed and spoofed WW2 US Navy radars and associated identification friend or foe by staying close to USN planes in the last 18 months of WW2.

Drones are seeing these tactics repeated 80 years later.

What the Palyanytsia drone-missile brings that other Ukrainian OWA drones lack is _SPEED_.

They are moving at better than 300 knots indicated, compared to about 100 knots for a propeller OWA drone.

AFU Jet OWA Drone impact🧵
1/
In 30 minutes, a propeller OWA drone reaches 92 km versus 277.8 km for a Palyanytsia drone-missile.

This makes a huge difference for the VKS scrambling jets to avoid Ukrainian drone attacks.

2/

While Russian VKS jets have moved back out of the 300 km ATACMS range.

VKS Attack helicopter forward area refueling points cannot.

This also complicates VKS attempts to shuttle bomb through forward air fields.

Russian animal labor logistics hasn't changed going into the 3rd year of the Russo-Ukrainian War.

This captured RuAF ammo supply point had no pallets or forklifts, just two man lift wooden boxes and straining backs.

RuAF animal labor logistics & Western intel🧵
By way of contrast, the US Army had by 1945 fully made the transition to mechanized logistics pallets and forklifts for the Operation Olympic invasion of Japan.

The 1945 supply list below includes:

"Trucks, forks 108", lift, 6000lb"
"Trucks, forks, 72", lift, 4000lb"

The utter 'mirror imaging unto death' of Western mechanized truck truck logistics - to the exclusion of all other cultural and visual evidence - is one of the major & continuing institutional failures of Western logistical intelligence.

The continued decay of Russian field artillery continues apace.

The WW2 era M-30 Model 1938 122mm gun has a maximum range of 11.8 km (7.33 mi).

That compares to the 18 km of a D-30 towed gun.

Lanchester smiles🧵
1/
Resurrecting the M-30 Model 1938 122mm gun into Russian service either from museums or North Korean caves is not easy.

The Russians had to invest a lot of man hours of work for a gun with 2/3 the range capability of the one it replaced,

2/
...and it died quickly in combat to a FPV drone once it began to be used.

More industrial capability invested for less & less military utility is the essence of a Lanchester Square Collapse.

Frederick W. Lanchester smiles.

The arrival of AFU jet engine powered OWA Drones in the $100K to $300K range humbugs the Contractor/Flag rank big/few/expensive/accurate missile cult.

A mix of a few dozen platinum bullets & 100's of OWA drones is how 21st century wars are fought.

Suppose you have 100 each $3 million missiles.

What is the warshot trade off it 40 of those $3 million missiles are traded out for $300K jet OWA drones?

($3 million/$300K) * 40 = 400 OWA Drones.

So, 460 shots.

The is is where the big/few/expensive/accurate missile cult wigs out and says there are targets only a platinum bullet can reliably engage that a OWA drone can't.

This is overblown.

Imagine 45 lb/20 kg warhead drones hitting factories, oil tanks & ammo depots with napalm.

Pay attention to the RuAF heavy equipment transporters (HET) in this video - 13 - carrying tracked vehicles and one front end loader backhoe.

RuAF tracked vehicles can't make long road marches w/o 60%(+) breakdowns & track wear.

Russo-Ukrainian War operational level🧵
1/
HET's & Flatbed train cars rolling stock are how the RuAF moves tracked vehicles to operational and strategic distances.

Soviet practice was to have a large HET fleet in Western Russia to move the 2nd strategic echelon of ground forces to invade NATO.

2/
The Soviet Red Army anticipated NATO would down a lot of railway bridges, plus a HET were also useful for moving lots of artillery ammo tonnage as well as vehicles.

Henry Schlottman' Nov 2022 substack lays out a 300 km road march sees 60% to 70% of

This is a WW2 US Army tank transporter/HET being used to move ammo & supplies rather than a tank.

This is a quote by Lieutenant General Mykola Oleshchuk, Commander of Ukraine's Air Force (PSU):

"We see and know everything. Our precision bombs will get you anywhere!"

PSU Drone swarms versus VKS GBAD

pravda.com.ua/eng/news/2024/…
The Russian VKS (Aerospace Force) can't protect its own bases inside Russia with SAM's against Ukrainian drone strikes.

Putin's dacha's, Army logistics & HQ's in occupied Ukraine & the Kerch bridge have priority for the remaining VKS SAM batteries
2/
Social media accounts talking about the continuing strength of Russian ground based air defense are persisting in their delusions since this is about their faith in ideology, not evidence and facts.
