The DNC was in Chicago. The Uber driver, waiter, & worker is well aware of COVID risk. It’s an assumption to act as if they don’t & it’s irrational to place blame specifically on DNC attendees.
COVID doesn’t just spread at the DNC.
We agree, not that you asked for a productive conversation. There should be increased awareness & protections during this uptick in cases. Fact is many local and state authorities are doing so re advertising vaccines & encouraging masking (which costs a lot of tax dollars).
Clearly some need a reminder re the difference between Trump & Biden in handling COVID.
Trump’s Administration acted as if there was no threat. He himself ignored Dr. Fauci & leading doctors/scientists throughout.
Joe Biden ramped up vaccine distribution & education.
“Today the average of daily new COVID cases tally up to about 126,000, which is nearly three times what they were when Trump’s infection was disclosed in early October 2020. But the current number of average daily deaths is half of what it was at that time.” @sciam
The death rate has dropped drastically because of the attention to vaccine distribution & education under Joe Biden.
This doesn’t mean don’t take it seriously. But don’t act like the vaccine & boosters haven’t made a HUGE difference in likelihood of severe illness & death.
The reason we don’t have more protective herd immunity nationwide is because many people refuse to get vaccinated, in part because of Donald Trump’s rhetoric. Yes, it’s impossible to catch up to the new variants.

A small 🧵about Donald Trump’s pick for Secretary of Defense, the Senior leader of the military under the President & 6th in line of succession to the President. To the left is General Lloyd Austin….
Secretary of Defense Austin served 41 years in the Army & retired as a 4-Star General. His last assignment: Commander of Central Command, overseeing ALL operations in the Middle East (contains 560 million people & 25 ethnic groups in the most hostile area in the world).
The guy on the right (Pete Hegseth) - I’ll be fair. He’s a Major in the National Guard with combat deployment experience. I respect it. But that’s all he offers to the job.
He has no experience at a high level in national security OR in the ranks. Now he’s going to be the boss?
