In a listening session last night, young people confirmed what was clearly the DNC’s thesis in bringing creators to the convention: many watched the convention via clips on social rather than cable/by reading traditional news. 🧵
"It was interesting to really watch it in the time of TikTok, I think, and see different clips of it show up throughout the next day. I had several friends tell me, 'you know, I'm not going to watch it. I'll just find the clips on social media tomorrow,'" said one 24-year-old.
"None of my friends really watched it, like on traditional Cable or Cable news, but they saw it all on Instagram or Facebook or Tiktok or on Snapchat," said another 27-year-old.
"I'm a college student, and I was packing for school. So in my mind, I instead of watching the full thing... I did see clips of it on Instagram and TikTok. I used social media to see the convention clips and the highlights," said a 20-year-old.
