It's been nearly six months since we launched the Canadian Covid Society in March, and we’ve made great progress in this short time. From hiring a coordinator and engaging teams of volunteers, to setting key priorities, we've laid the foundation for (1/13)
our vital work. After our launch, more than 400 people reached out to offer advice, funding and support. It was an incredible response, and as you can imagine, it has taken a while to match the skills, availability and interests of individuals with the work we need to do (2/13)
as an organization. We’re pleased to share that we have started to gather into key volunteer committees, including Communications, Fundraising, Long Covid, Science Content, and Legal. As a very new organization, we’re going to be heavily reliant on our keen volunteers (3/13)
for the foreseeable future, and we hope to engage with more of you who have reached out in the near future. At the moment, we have just one paid member working with us: Nancy Delagrave, one of our co-founders, who has stepped down from the Board to support all the work (4/13)
we are doing as our coordinator.
Our Key Priorities
After much discussion, the Board has identified three key priorities, which we will focus on in the coming year and into the long-term future:
Clean Air in Schools
Safer Health Care
Long COVID Resources & Awareness
(5/13)
These evergreen priorities are important and achievable. We can and will work hard to move the needle on them.Of course, as unmitigated infections and new research continue to shift the landscape, we will be there to respond and provide the information you need. (6/13)
Refreshed Website That’s Growing With Us
As you may have noticed, our web developers, designers and communications volunteers have been working hard to expand our website. Our goal is to be the trusted source of up-to-date, science-backed COVID-19 information for people (7/13)
across the country. In the coming weeks and months, you can expect to see:
The launch of our Clean Air In Schools campaign (coming soon!)Advice on preventing COVID-19 infections for you and your loved onesTip sheets to help you encourage health care workers to (8/13)
mask.
Resources for people living with Long COVID
You Can Help Us Make an ImpactWe are grateful for the incredible outpouring of support that came on the heels of the Canadian Covid Society’s launch. Thanks to generous donors, we have been able to begin funding our vital (9/13)
work, including covering our coordinator’s salary for a few months. But we need your help to keep this momentum going. Donations from folks like you will help us continue building the organization everyone needs. If you can give even $10, $20, $50 or $100, it will make (10/13)
an impact. Every dollar adds up. We recognize that this may be a big ask for some of you, especially because we’re in the process of becoming a registered charity — which means we’re not yet able to issue charitable tax receipts when you donate. But the application (11/13)
process can be lengthy, and we can’t let that delay the important work that needs to be done now.If you’re in a position to give, please visit or to donate today. (12/13)covidsociety.ca/donate societecovid.ca/faites-un-don/
Thank you so much for your support! It means a lot! (13/13)
