Tanks, APCs, fighters: More than 1000 personnel and dozens of vehicles have been redeployed to the border with Ukraine 1/9
In August, an increase in the number of contingent of the Belarusian Armed Forces deployed in the regions bordering Ukraine was recorded.
2/9
The reason for the redeployment of units to the south of the country was Lukashenka’s claim on August 10 about the alleged flight of Ukrainian UAVs into Belarus.
3/9
Defense Minister Khrenin said that the UAVs that entered Belarus from Ukraine on August 9 were detected and destroyed by the Belarusian Air Force, which was later refuted by Belarusian Hajun.
4/9
However, additional forces were indeed redeployed to the border area, and according to our data as of September 1, the number of the group concentrated near the border with Ukraine may be about 1420 people.
5/9
As for the equipment, the following were redeployed to Homiel region:
• 30 BTR-82A (the 339th Battalion);
• At least 20 T-72B (the 355th Battalion);
• 30 BTR-70MB1 (357th Battalion);
• 30 BTR-82A (382nd Battalion);
• 16 Tunguska SAM systems (the 19th Brigade);
6/9
• 4 Su-25 (the 116th Air Base);
• 2 Mi-8 (the 50th Air Base);
• 5 S-300PS SAM systems (the 15th Brigade).
It’s likely that EW, communications, UAV, and other units were also redeployed to the border.
7/9
It hasn’t yet been possible to confirm the claimed redeployment of some units of the Belarusian Armed Forces. We note that the number of troops redeployed to Homiel region doesn’t pose a military threat to Ukraine.
