1/ The rifle regiments of Russia's 51st and 3rd armies (formerly the 1st and 2nd Army Corps of the LPR and DPR) are facing a "catastrophic shortage of people and material support", due to losses and disorganisation, according to a source in one of the regiments. ⬇️ Image
2/ The Russian 'Ghost of Novorossia' Telegram channel reports the account of a signalman from one of the regiments, with whom it says "we have been working for a very long time". The man's identity is not being disclosed in order to protect him from retaliation by his superiors.
3/ "If you have the opportunity, help raise the following SYSTEMIC PROBLEM of the former regiments of the mobilisation reserve of the people's republics, and now separate rifle regiments. They have a neutered STAFFING table, both in terms of people and material resources.
4/ "If we adhere to the formal staffing table according to the law, then these regiments were created and continue to exist with very limited combat capability. Specific examples:
5/ "1. There is no regular artillery in the separate rifle regiments at all, not even mortars. What is available is freelance and can be withdrawn from the unit at any time. Supplying ammunition to freelance artillery is a separate semi-legal quest.
6/ "People are accordingly officially listed as who-where and are in limbo.

2. There is no UAV service at all. What is available is freelance and comes from volunteers and personal funds of servicemen. People - see above.
7/ "3. There is no air defence service and means at all. People - see above.

4. There is no NBC protection service at all. (But at least they issued gas masks here - the only bright spot).
8/ "5. The regimental command is neutered - there is no operations department (all the work is at the General Staff and the Defence Staff).
9/ "6. Communications at the regimental command level should be provided by only a few people - and this is instead of a communications company or at least a full-fledged platoon. The material base according to the staffing is from the times of Afghanistan.
10/ "Everything else is unstaffed and comes at the expense of volunteers and personal funds of military personnel. People - see above.
11/ "7. With the medical service - the situation is similar according to the staffing.

And such examples can be dug up even more than both for the STANDARD material base and for the STANDARD of people.
12/ "If this problem is treated with more or less understanding, then the holes are plugged by seconding people from the line battalions, but this also does not completely solve all the problems - a catastrophic shortage of people and material support.
13/ "People who are engaged in freelance work are actually in limbo. If a situation develops, as in the 87th Separate Rifle Regiment, then the result is very sad."
14/ Although the source doesn't go into detail about the causes of these problems, the former 1st and 2nd Army Corps of the LPR and DPR were only recently converted into regular Russian combined arms armies. They were previously subordinated to Russia's 8th Combined Arms Army.
15/ This process of consolidation would have included (in theory) increasing the staffing of the former corps by adding additional regiments, brigades and divisions. However, it seems from this account that there is a critical shortage of staffing across the two new armies. /end

1/ Corrupt Russian HQ troops are reported to be selling drones and other equipment donated by volunteers at a market in Donetsk city. Drone operators often have to buy drones with their own money, and fear being sent into suicidal assaults as punishment if they complain. ⬇️ Image
2/ The Russian Telegram channel 'Interbrigade 2022' says that Mavic drones and other items of military equipment are being sold openly at the Mayak market in Donetsk city. Representatives of the 'DPR Ministry of Internal Affairs' are said to exact 'tributes' from sellers there.
3/ The drones appear to be donated ones being resold for corrupt personal gain. DPR drone operators complain that "birds handed over by volunteers centrally through the headquarters of regiments and brigades disappear somewhere, and are given out clearly less than they receive."

1/ Russian regions are spending hundreds of millions of rubles to equip schools with life-size mock weapons and 'combat wound simulators'. Children will be taught battlefield medicine and basic military drills, as part of a plan to create Russia's next generation of soldiers. ⬇️ Image
2/ 'We can explain' reports that from the start of the current new school year in Russia, children are being taught a new 'Fundamentals of Security and Defense of the Motherland' (OZBR) course. At least 177 million rubles ($2 million) has been spent on equipment for the course.
3/ This includes combat wound simulators and life-size realistic models of automatic rifles, pistols, grenades, anti-personnel land mines, and even light machine guns, intended for children at grades 5 to 11. The procurement is being funded by Russia's individual regions.

1/ France is reportedly putting pressure on Pavel Durov's older brother Nikolai and Telegram vice-president Ilya Perekopsky to come to Paris and testify. This could speed up the resolution of the legal case against Pavel, but it also has risks for Nikolai and Perekopsky. ⬇️

2/ The Russian Telegram channel SHOT has interviewed "a representative of Pavel Durov's inner circle" about the pros and cons of Durov's agreement to cooperate with the investigation, such as a relaxation of Durov's judicial control that would allow him to travel within the EU.
3/ While the ongoing investigation could take at least a year, it could be resolved more speedily if Perekopsky and Nikolai, who has also reportedly been charged with storing and distributing child pornography, come to Paris to give testimony.

1/ Badly injured Russian soldiers are being denied recuperation and are sent into frontline assaults on canes and crutches. Outraged Russian milbloggers blame field commanders for refusing to allow medical leave, but the blame likely goes much higher. ⬇️
2/ As the video above shows, wounded soldiers who have to rely on crutches and sticks to walk are being used for frontline duty. Ukrainian drone footage shows a Russian stormtrooper who appears to have been killed while attempting to assault Ukrainian positions with a white cane. Image
3/ Previously, wounded soldiers have made video appeals to Vladimir Putin asking that they be allowed to recover from their wounds. The men in the video below had their crutches taken away after recording this and the speaker was sent to a torture camp.

1/ At least 100,000 tons of Russian fuel is estimated to have been destroyed in Ukrainian drone attacks. The attacked fuel depots were built underground for protection but were moved to the surface to save money. Now they may have to be buried again. ⬇️
2/ In August 2024, Ukrainian drones attacked two fuel storage facilities in Russia's Rostov region – "Base No. 7" (also known as "Atlas") in Kamensky district and "Flagman" (formerly "Kavkaz") in Proletarsk. The attacks caused massive damage. Image
3/ Satellite photos published by @MT_Anderson show the extent of the damage to Flagman – 15 fuel tanks destroyed, 3 partially damaged, and the status of another 33 unknown. At least 3 tanks were destroyed at Atlas.

1/ Companies involved in schemes to export sanctioned coal and metals from Russian-occupied Ukrainian regions reportedly invested about 10 million euros in Telegram, despite its CEO Pavel Durov's process of supposedly carefully personally scrutinising and selecting investors. ⬇️ Image
2/ 'Important Stories' reports that a Dutch company, Stiron BV, invested about €10 million in the Telegram Open Network (TON) blockchain platform in 2018. The company is interconnected with another Dutch firm, ME Property Invest, but the ownership of both is obscure.
3/ The investment was funded through targeted loans provided by three other companies, two from the UK and one from the Czech Republic. Important Stories describes them as having "the hallmarks of being fictitious". It notes:
