In a sample of 2883 Covid survivors from California 🇺🇸 interviewed at least 30 days post Covid, 20.9% reported "incomplete recovery" and 4.9% "severe" LC. Severe acute Covid and being unvaccinated appeared to be predictors of #LongCovid in the study sciencedirect.com/science/articl…
The study leveraged "survey responses from a large serosurveillance study, [to] assess prevalence estimates [of #LongCovid] using five different long COVID definitions among California residents."
The study, thus, assessed "the prevalence of long COVID across five different definitions including, 1) persistent COVID-19 symptoms, 2) incomplete recovery, 3) sought healthcare for long COVID, 4) functional impact on daily activity, and 5) severe long COVID"
A note: study with limitations (e.g. survey-based, not addressing pathophysiology). It's however interesting because it shows that when a very straightforward way to tackle LC numbers is used (like: did you fully recovered from Covid), numbers are high. Many don't recover

In a sample of 205 patients with COPD and SARS-CoV-2 Omicron, 2022, COPD did not independently increase the risk of COVID-19 mortality. However, COPD patients were more likely to require oxygen and noninvasive ventilation than non-COPD
The retrospective cohort study investigated the association between chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and the prognosis of COVID-19 patients infected with Omicron variant.
The study found that "COPD itself was not an independent risk factor for COVID-19 mortality. Age, sex, vaccination status, comorbidities, and long-term oxygen therapy use were important predictors of mortality."
We need some clarity here, based on the scientific and epistemological evidence 1. What does Jha mean by "very high level of population immunity" to SARS-CoV-2? We know scientifically people can be infected again and again with the virus, even if vaccinated
2. The US alone, where Jha was Biden's Covid "czar", is currently experiencing over 1000 official Covid deaths a week, with limited surveillance. SARS-CoV-2 was spreading at the Democratic National Convention (DNC) and even Hillary Clinton has Covid
We know scientifically that, while acute Covid remains fatal in a number of individuals, one of the biggest dangers is #LongCovid (prolonged disease from SARS-CoV-2 infection), which can often present even in non-hospitalized patients
Covid isn't the "common cold". Covid=common cold/flu is an argument that some policymakers, pundits, and so-called "experts" have been trying to make since much earlier in the pandemic. They can do it directly, or indirectly. It happened with Omicron, for example. Some examples:
Tony Fauci in late 2021, Omicron, we likely learn to live with Covid like we do we do with common cold and flu (to note, Fauci has expressed varying and in my opinion inconsistent views on Covid, see various media)
"I’m just going to let you know, there were a lot of people in the village who had COVID that just didn’t say it. I’m just the most popular person who got COVID and actually said I had it."
"Now looking back, there were signs on the day of the final of the 100m [which Lyles won] that this was taking too much energy to produce what I normally produce. I just threw it to the side."
Lyles said
"Then, I wake up the next day and it’s Monday now after the finals and I have a sore throat. I’m thinking, ‘OK. Maybe I just cheered a little too much. Maybe I was yelling a little too much.’ .. Lyles said
"I was just taken to the emergency room by ambulance after vomiting blood twice. I'll update you all. I dreamed for this day except living a nightmare like this"
Tokyo's gold medal Gianmarco Tamberi, hours before ending 11th in the Paris high jump final
Uncomfortable to have watched the final live (at the time I knew Tamberi was ill again with suspected kidney problems/kidney stones; but I didn't know about the reports about vomiting blood). It has been concerning to see so many people competing ill like Peaty or Lyles
An Olympic, World and European gold medallist, Tamberi was the flag bearer for Italy at the Paris Games opening ceremony. Shortly after, he reported to have been at the hospital for fever and kidney issues. He delayed his return to Paris to try recover
