Parshat Ki Tavo
Deuteronomy 26:1–29:8

PARSHAT KI TAVO, like much of Torah, operates on several levels.
1) Image
On one level, the literal surface, it gives instructions, but then looks deeper and it communicates how the performance of Mitzvoth creates sociological and psychological civilizing and humanizing consequences in the creation and continuation of a moral nation.
2)
Moses instructs the people of Israel: When you enter the land that G‑d is giving to you as your eternal heritage, and you settle it and cultivate it, bring the first-ripened fruits (bikkurim) of your orchard, and declare your gratitude for all that G‑d has done for you.
3)
What does this mean below the surface? It means the creation of a society that understands deferred gratification, which is a key element in building a future-oriented & moral nation in contrast to a people who is narcissistic & care only about instant gratification today.
4)
And Parshat Ki Tavo shows the choices the people have — between complying with the teachings of Torah with those leading to a positive, high quality of life in society and what can happen if the teachings of Torah are ignored -
5)
an account of the bad things—illness, famine, poverty, and exile—that shall befall them if they abandon the lesson of Torah.

Notice it is not that HaShem will punish anyone.
6)
Rather, it is a prediction that if you do not do the right thing, that lapse will have negative consequences all by itself. If you do not follow traffic laws and you have an accident and damage your car and maybe someone dies,
7)
it is not HaShem doing something to you, it is you being responsible for the bad results of your choices.

Finally, Moses tells the people that only today, forty years after their birth as a people, have they attained “a heart to know, eyes to see and ears to hear.”
8)
Now, what does that mean? It means that after 40 years of isolation, education, & a change of generational leadership, the people finally could think, act, and be, a mature nation that does not look over its shoulder at Egypt or any other nation for approval, for validation.
9)
Can we really say we are anywhere near that state of cultural maturity and confidence today?

I don’t think so.

Instead, I see our people too often looking at Torah through a lens of other cultures as if Torah and the lessons in it are on trial,
10)
through a lens of the consequences of 2000 years of persecution and adaption to survive persecution, all producing contradictions to the purpose of Torah.
11)
It’s as if we are still the generation that has just left Egypt, unready to think and act as a free nation, not yet having our 40 years of learning and adjusting to think like a proud and free people.
12)
Our institutions and politics, our rates of loss through assimilation, or arguments of what law should be in Israel, all demonstrate that we are still at the level our people when they just left Egypt, not thinking as a free people, vulnerable to the arguments of Korach.
13)
It is time to move forward and change that."

1)
Friday, the openly anti-Israel and anti-Jewish and antiu-American head of the UN Human Rights Committee, called the exploding communications devices in Lebanon a “CRIME” AND “ILLEGAL ACT” under International Law, claiming that it was an attack against innocent civilians.
2)
Note that the beepers, telephones, and Walkie-Talkies were in the hands of Hezbollah operatives and soldiers who all are terrorists as defined by International law.

And nowhere in International Law is there any protection for terrorists or those who are with terrorists.

There are a few realities that must be faced. (1). Russia will not be defeated by Ukraine or NATO. (2). Ukraine will not be defeated by Russia.
1)
(3). When this is over, all there will be to show for the war is lots of damage and a lot of dead Russians and Ukrainians, and the same problems that existed in January 2022 will still be in place.

The New Reality once the fighting stops?
2)
(1). Russia will have lost a lot of soldiers and equipment, but overall, Russia will be better off than before the war started. Why is that?

Conflation is the merging of two or more sets of information, texts, ideas, or opinions into one, often in error, SOMETIMES INTENTIONAL, - two similar but disparate concepts as the same - OFTEN TO MISLEAD, CONFUSE, LIE.
1)
And much of what the Democrats with the Kamala campaign do is conflate to lie to the American people.

EXAMPLES TO LOOK FOR:

1. The USA is producing a record amount of oil, more than ever before.

The Truth - The USA is using and refining a record amount of oil,
2)
but a large part of that oil volume is being imported from Venezuela and other foreign nations rather than being produce in the USA, and making the USA subject to world market oil prices,

Roger Froikin @rlefraim wrote, "A DOSE OF HISTORICAL REALISM FOR JEWS.

We Jews have a bad habit. The habit is that we have become accustomed to and accepting of the Western Wall (formally the Wailing Wall) as the central place of veneration,
1)
of connection to our heritage. In that context, the area adjacent to the Wall has been cleared and beautified and made into a gathering place for prayer, celebrations, and nice pictures. My son had his Bar-Mitzvah at the Wall, as have many others.
2)
But, I want everyone to pause and think for a moment. WHY IS THE WALL IMPORTANT TO US?

After all, all it was and is, is a retaining wall built supporting the platform constructed on which to place the Temple.

One thing is very clear. The accusation that a person or political party is a “Threat to Democracy” seems to be used everywhere,
1)
as if there is one Hollywood script read by and repeated all over the world by the “Left” and its allied media, though anyone can see that it is the “left”. That has advocated censorship, banning opposition media,
2)
and using the courts to make free and honest elections doubtful, in short what those who want to end democracy actually do.

There has now been 2 assassination attempts against a Presidential Candidate.

In an atmosphere in which the President of the United States, his VP, and the members of his party and the affiliated partisan media have painted a bullseye on the candidate,

calling him a danger to democracy, some going so far as to say he must be eliminated, including the President who said there is a Bullseye on the Republican candidate.
